What’s your download / upload speed?
-
I played two games this morning between 9am-11am UKT tethered off my 4G iPhone and both games were perfect.
The point of my story is when things get busier US side the issues start.
Your connection helps but the servers need to be better.
If anyone cares. An hour playing the show only uses about 80mb in data online. Nothing at all really.

489mgs download and 22mgs upload.

I am curious to know how your opponents felt about the quality of those match connections? I imagine they were horrid, regardless of their network setup. SDS should implement a ping notification before going into an online match. Without dedicated servers, game sessions can have major lag and latency issues for at least one of the p2p participants, especially in matches over a large geographic area.

Why would they notice anything? The ball is smooth off the bat when it goes in play whenever I pitch or bat.
When I play Rocket League my ping is 60 - which is better than numerous others playing with me.
As long as my 4G is smooth and doesn’t drop. The other play will not notice he is playing someone off their phone. Like I said. 80-100mb per hour for ranked is not a internet connection thing. It’s a server thing if it goes bad.
-
I hope these people with dialup internet speeds are truly stuck in the sticks and unable to get faster internet instead of buying a game, paying for online play and just going online to make it suck for everyone else not living in Antarctica.

So internet speed doesn’t really affect the quality of you and opponents connection-actually the person with better speed can sometimes be the only one noticing the lag correct?

Yep, the game will slow down to lowest connection. So he's making the game miserable for his opponent.

I get 200 down 30 up With wifi its 57 down and 5 up
-
But aren’t both teams then playing under same conditions or are you saying the person with the worse connection actually has an advantage here?

While your internet speed is part of the issue, ping time is a very important factor in match quality. If your opponent is hosting the match, who is geographically many miles away from your connection, latency issues can be very noticable. In addition, if your opponent, who is hosting, has poor upload speed for whatever reason, you may experience more noticable game lag than them.

Speed test showed this:
15ms Ping
991 down

I have Comcast xfinity also and my download is typically in the 800mbps range. I have the 1GB service though.

But it's often the connection between you and your opponent’s the problem... or maybe if you don't put your PS to 1080p and the game in 1080p ( faster in the game video option ) it could help a lot -

I played on 12 down 2 up for years because it was all I had available and game played great. Now I am at 1000 down 25 up and it isnt any better. All your speeds are good for is downloading large files, and balancing out the bandwidth if you have a bunch of people using your connection at the same time. Ping and the quality of your service will play a much larger role than Up and Down speed.
