SDS Ruined Pinpoint Pitching

Again and again I start a pitch on the edge of the zone, perfect input with pitchers that have good control ratings and what happens time and time again? The pitch leaks over the plate
My god, PPP was one of the improvements they made last year and they’ve gone and COMPLETELY butchered it this year
Yet again, let’s force more randomness into H2H play and force pitches over the plate
The more I play this game the worse and worse it gets, and I have 0 faith in their patches to get this right
I know it’s early, but 22 is already looking like a complete failure for H2H play

Can you show me your complaints last year about non-perfect inputs (all 3 of them) resulting in perfect dots?
We all know you got perfect results from less than perfect inputs so if you didn't complain last year then don't complain this year.

I doubt I complained about PPP last year because the results of your input were actually consistent…
I praised PPP last year because it actually made pitching a more viable skill to lean on
This year? They obviously nerfed how accurate you can be with it even with highly rated control pitchers
Have no idea what point you’re trying to make

I'm glad they nerfed PP [censored] was stupid OP last year

I agree that pitchers with low control rating were able to dot a little too easily with PPP, yes
But if you have a highly rated control pitcher, place a pitch on the corner, perfect input, it should not leak over the plate at all
That’s happening over and over again this year

My point I am making is that PPP was stupid easy last year to dot with ANYONE and there were crickets from the masses that benefited greatly from it (we won't talk about the stupid endless stamina from it as well). This year, it's less forgiving and people are complaining.
It people didn't [censored] about it being too easy with less than compete perfect inputs then people shouldn't be bitching when it's harder/bit more random.
But, throw up videos of these completely perfect inputs resulting in gravity balls down the middle so we can see for ourselves what you're referencing l.

Alright I can agree with you to an extent. 100% agree on stamina being broken and that shouldn’t happen
The reason I made this post, had the gold O’Day on the mound. He has high control on his sinker, I started the pitch on the outer half where part of the ball indicator is on the outside line of the zone itself
100% perfect input and the pitch ended up in the middle third of the plate. Stamina wasn’t low either
How do you defend that? And when I say middle third I mean no part of the ball ended up on the outer third
That’s awful
But I do appreciate your point
-
The worst is sliders 6-12 balls outside that leak middle middle.

I don’t think you can really use the word skill to describe using PPP.
In my opinion you are wrong on this a little. It still goes in the right spot 9/10 times. If you are facing a great hitter, just like in real life you have to aim a little further from the zone to make sure it doesn’t leak back over the plate.
I enjoy hitting, not making circle gestures with my right stick. I welcome this change personally. Hopefully they can find a balance one day. If you want to see skill in pitching force everyone to use meter.

To the people saying that PPP was OP last year: maybe so, yes if you mastered it then it was really accurate. Which is the reason why they introduced it in the first place. But hey, I would support a slight nerf to how accurate it was as well.
But what they did is not a slight nerf. Throwing a pitch with perfect input, with all the blue lines and text and where it even says "perfect", should NEVER go into the strike zone if you spotted it outside of it. NEVER should it even come close to the bottom part of the zone if you spotted it in the dirt.
If you cannot see how much of an issue that is, then I don't know what to tell you. I guess the only people who benefit from this are the ones who struggle to recognize pitches and have no plate discipline whatsoever. Because they can swing away and more often than not can get a decent result doing so.

My point exactly
And I honestly don’t mind a small nerf to PPP, but like you said, SDS went to far in this aspect and now there’s too much randomness
I guess we’ll just have to learn to play with it

Pinpoint is much better this year.

Better how?
The change to PAR size adaptability and it not being a dot every time with every pitch. I enjoy these changes.
As for the complaints made about it in this topic, I haven't seen it. With good input I've noticed it tends to happen and I've hung a few pitches, but it wasn't perfect execution so I deserved it.

Fair point
Like I said, I agree that low rates control pitchers shouldn’t be able to dot again and again like last year
My gripe is pitchers with high control rating on certain pitches. If I have perfect input with that individual pitch, why should the ball end up in a different/hittable location?
Thats fine if it happens rarely (even maddux missed his spots sometimes) but it’s happening way too often for my liking so far
I’ll learn to adapt

I’ve been using meter pitching for years and I’m struggling to locate anything this year.

You think that’s bad? I’ve pointed a slider low and away out of the zone with perfect input and the ball just breaks right in the bottom middle of the zone resulting in a smashed home run.

Doesn’t matter if it’s 9/10 times. In a 3 inning BR game, that one time can make or break a run. Perfect input with a pitch outside the zone should never be near the zone 10/10 times.

I disagree with this and no pitcher in real baseball can hit his spots every pitch or would be unhittable in every game and that's not the case at all. Even the absolute best pitchers in the game give up a couple runs per 9 over the course of a season or career... why should this be different if it's a Sim game? If you are using the easiest pitching method in the game and dotting every single pitch... to me that's not Sim and is not enjoyable for us that choose to use more skill based pitching... I don't want to use pinpoint because it's super boring to me to play all year like that. I know I am getting hit more often because I choose meter, but for me I want to enjoy a challenge when I play and not have every thing automatic for me. I don't play to get self gratification for beating others I play to relax and have fun... I like having randomness in a sim game based on a real game that is at least 30% luck in real life. Baseball is all about law of average and the videogame should be too. It's often a pitcher pitches a good game and gets hit around because balls aren't falling where they normally do and hitters are even smashing balls well out of the zone, but the law of average will see better results from the same pitching in a different match up for him. I'm happy they nerfed pinpoint a little and I pitch better with pinpoint, but choose not to use it because I have more fun when I pitch well with meter even though there's a way smaller window for success with it.

Isn't that what the PAR was for though? Good control pitches should be able to dot with perfect input. Sounds to me like the PAR was broken for bad control pitchers.
