Heads UP! Ballplayer Conflict
-
You are about to load a ballplayer into a Road the Show save that has a different position.
This is the THIRD time I've hit this. It's the only player I have. Was a pitcher and it shifts me to RF. Nothing changed, I was just going from Play Next to Play Next then this hits.
I've tried quitting the game, bouncing the XBox, but the same thing each time. Getting really [censored] tired of starting over.
-
I think this is now fixed.
Previously, I was not able to start my 4th game in the majors. After the third game, there was a Russo cutscene, in which he said he was sorry, didn't believe there would be "another Shohei Ohtani". This cutscene was bogus, as I was a pitcher, not two-way player.
Now, on my 4th career file (first with a second starting pitcher), there was a Russo cutscene right after I was called up to the majors, which I don't recall seeing in any of my previous runs. After the third game, I had no cutscene. -
The problem is I can't get into that RTTS, gives me the error above and boots me back out to the main area.
-
I know. That career file is now broken and can only be continued with a position player.
Time to start over: create a new career for your pitcher, start again in the minors, and hopefully you will be able to progress into the majors this time.As I said, I've been in that situation before: my first pitcher started a new career three times, and each of them ended after 3 games in the majors, when the game erroneously changes the career file from pitcher to position player. In all three cases, it happened right after that Russo cutscene, in which he mentions Ohtani.

I’m on my 3rd time having to start over again as a pitcher. How this is a bug and wasn’t realized before release is unbelievable. They need to rename rtts to road to Groundhog Day. You make the majors play a few games then start your career over with all your accumulated stats.
-
I may have a solution. Make a Two-Way Player and load him into the RTTS save that's giving you the error message. Then simulate until you're called into the Manager's office for poor batting performance. When this happens you are given the choice to be sent down to AAA or to only be a pitcher. When you choose to only be a pitcher you then manually save and exit to the main menu where you can change back to your pitching player. Finally, load back into your RTTS and the error message should be gone.
P.S: You may have to sim multiple times because if your pitching is poor while simulating they'll send you down to AAA. Also, I have only pitched one game so the error may just come up again. Hope this helps though

I made an account just to ask about this and I am also on my third attempt. Same thing just happened again. How this got through QA and is still not fixed is insane. Legit makes a pitcher only RTTS unplayable.
-
It is not just a pitcher problem, it happens to my position player as well. It seems that every time I change to a different RTTS ballplayer the game does not reset the settings to the new player.and causes this error I never had a problem playing multiple players before they screwed up RTTS by tying it to DD. I have been playing an SP, CP, and a position every year since my PSP days on The Show 07 and never had a problem switching to a different game save.
Maybe they could add an offline-only mode for RTTS to swap easily without getting all these errors. I buy this game every year specifically to play RTTS, I dabble with the other modes now and then, but this is the reason I buy it annually.
-
A week later and got the error again playing a SP. This error makes me not want to play this [censored] game.
-
I have run into it twice now. No response on multiple attempts to reach the studio. Super disheartening. What a bummer
-
In order to work around this you will have to start over with that same archetype and sim until the start of your second season in the majors. Do not come out of the calendar or it will kick you. When you get to spring training going into your second year make sure you hit sim spring training and not advance to regular season or it will kick you. Just keep simulating and eventually you’ll talk to the manager and he’ll ask you if you want to stay a two way player or become just a starting pitcher. Hope this helps. Just in case you mess up I would save as soon as you get called up to the majors under a new save file.
