So I've been playing offline since release, grinding all the programs and what not. So during that time I always keep my opinion to myself, because we all know offline usually plays fine and you don't really run into the issues that could spoil your experience.

Today I've been playing the event all day long. And it started out okay I guess, some slugfests here and there and just getting my feet wet. Nothing out of the ordinary. But the more I played, the more recurring themes I encountered.

First and foremost, the amount of bloopies/flukies or whatever you wanna call them are simply ridiculous. I understand that it is a part of baseball and it is totally fine if they happen occasionally. But the volume of bad swings that get rewarded are just out of hand at this point. We all like hit variety and we all want contact hitters to be usable, but not if this is the trade off. And that's what I feel is happening here, these hits are a thing because of the complaints regarding lack of hit variety in the past in my opinion.

What I also noticed is that the game, once again, forces my perfectly executed pitches into the strike zone. This was a thing in 18 and it feels the exact same to me in that sense. I have given up staggering amounts of homeruns on offspeed pitches that I spotted almost in the dirt and executed perfectly, yet somehow ended up in the bottom of the strike zone. Why are perfectly executed pitches being punished? What's the point of mastering PPP, which was introduced to widen the skill gap mind you, if you're gonna reduce that skill gap once more by adding randomness to the pitching outcome?

Then I've noticed that contact hitting is broken. Again. Try it for yourself to have a laugh. I played 5 games in a row swinging with the contact button exclusively and I hit 430ft homeruns and got 110+ mph exit velocities all the same. We can no longer see our opponent's feedback, but I wouldn't be surprised if many of the players in this community do the exact same thing. Since it widens the timing windows, allows for more solid contact and still gives you the same exit velocities.. why would you ever normal swing or even power swing?

Then there is the overall performance of the game in terms of fluidity and choppiness. I play on PS5 on performance mode and I played in a handful of created stadiums and major league parks that once again induce frame drops and choppiness all around. As if I'm playing on my vanilla PS4 all over again. Try playing an online game at Target Field and you'll see what I mean.

Another thing that seriously irritated me is the amount of weak flyballs and even pop ups on swings where the ball is entirely in my buckshot, albeit in the top part of it. But that's what the game wants us to do, no? Lift the ball with power hitters? So that's what I'm aiming for and I get okay hits for weak pop ups. Again, this reminded me of MLBTS 18.

Last but not least (for now) is the amount of freeze offs STILL HAPPENING. Like how on earth can you not find the issues to this problem for all these years? I can't help but think that these people just don't care or have given up on this problem like "it's part of the game, get used to it". That's unacceptable and laughable in a sense.

I have tried my hardest to find some good things to say as well. I guess I do like the sound off the bat, especially during a perfect/perfect. I also like the fact that fielders have more urgency and you're able to gun a lot more people now with good throwing input. But that's about it.

I'm sorry, but the game is just not very good. Again. I hate that it gives me MLBTS 18 vibes, but that's really what it does. Hopefully the upcoming gameplay patch that has been confirmed will fix many of these issues. If not, I probably won't play very long.

    Edit:
One thing I forgot to mention, the PCI anchor. This feature was brought because people wanted to be able to have a sensitivity slider for the PCI. This is not that! The feature is terrible because it is basically guess pitch lite. People can just sit in a certain part of the zone and take away a whole part of the plate. I noticed that some people do this and don't swing until the ball comes into that part of the zone. I don't see how this has anything to do with skill and I think it's a terrible feature that should be removed asap or should be barred from online play.

Everything you mentioned is on point and there should be no rebuttals.

Thank lol, not sure if you're being sarcastic though because of how this thread turned out to be. If you are, like I said multiple times already it's totally fine for people to disagree.

No sarcasm here. I’ve noticed everything you’ve talked about and it’s annoying. Especially the high pop ups with good contact and the PPP accuracy this year.

The person being the most arrogant and argumentative here doesn't seem to have a fraction of the analytical prowess as the OP. Sheep in wolf's clothing who had to claim he knows more but can't begin to back it up.

May not agree on all points but overall a very robust and accurate analysis here. 👍

    Appreciate it.

I stopped reading after you mentioned the only online you’ve done is playing event games today.

No kidding right? Lost me too

I've played enough RS innings to know the OP thoughts are on point. You obviously can't pitch with PPP, can't hit, or can't do either. Which would make sense why you wouldn't even agree with some of his points. Pitching has taken a step back from last year. And the hitting style is all about the bloop and a blast this year.

Im lagging about no diamond players . Its solid although Im not impressed with mini season at all , extra innings mode was much better especially pe 21 versions Like every year seems if it aint broke they wanna FIX it . Online play is way overcatered to ,mostly because its Stubsville and sells. But its The Show baby!

I struggle to get people out too. Strikeouts are very rare. Again, this is exactly like 18. Some people I played are fouling everything off, pitches at the back of their heels that they can somehow foul tip. And of course this all will lead to that one pitch that hangs where you give up the homerun.

Man, I played like 4 event games and everything I squared up was a lineout. This is the first time I’m seriously considering requesting a refund to Sony.

I’m starting to become annoyed when I see hits rated from 7-10 with JL timing… Must be contact swinging all over again

Just lost a br game to a guy who had 1 hit in the first 2 innings. Bottom of the 3rd with me up 3-1 he pauses the game (changes hitting settings) comes back and proceeds to get, I [censored] you not, 7 hits. All were weak little bloopers or ground balls my pitcher missed on. He did have one good hit after fouling off a bunch of pitches out of the zone. I lose. If you play enough online this year you will see somthing sketchy is taking place. It's just not fun

Online is terrible. I had one game in RS where I had to throw 20 pitches in one at bat to Tyler O'Neill because he fouled off everything I threw no matter the location. Up and in, mid and in, down and away...didn't matter. None of them were close to the zone. The guy finally decided not to swing and walked. There's no way we should have ever gotten to that point. He should have struck out long before that.

I'm not a good hitter, but I've made it up to CS in prior years and usually do well in ranked because I can pitch fairly well. Can't even do that this year with the contact BS so I guess I'm focusing on offline play.

Regardless of what year or title it's like, there's always some stupid exploit for people to be first class pr1cks about and simply wreck the game for others. Yet they seem to welcome this behavior because it seems to make the title more popular. I just don't get it!

Played a guy earlier who took giant leads off of 3rd base, when I tried to pick him off he stole home. Next time he did it again, I stepped off the mound and he was back to 3rd in no time, without time to pick him off. He kept doing this and stole home 3 times against me and I felt like a giant idiot. Could not stop him from doing so for some reason.

So how is everyone enjoying the game so far?

Let you know when I get to HOF on RS. My assessment will have nothing to do with whether I win or lose. Am I seeing laggy warping pitches? That will determine.

Well, STL Cardinals and Chicago Cubs logos and team names are laggy games like 7 games out of 10 for me, I always pray to find people in NY or NJ… considering your location you probably see those guys a lot. I support your theory of servers and P2P, especially when you play people gaming in the basement via WiFi and the router is extremely far away.

It's crazy because I see a lot of team names near the alleged servers and they games are usually the worst. Boston, NY, Chicago, Florida, Colorado, TX, West Coast.

Haven't played many RS games but a lot of east coast players I have seen. This event has been some St Louis and yes they lag on my screen too because St Louis internet is trash. Not quite as bad as Chicago.

I don’t believe you are playing the next Gen version if you are able to choose performance mode. I could be wrong since I’m on xbox, but on the xbox side you can only change the graphics settings on the old Gen version.

I don’t believe you are playing the next Gen version if you are able to choose performance mode. I could be wrong since I’m on xbox, but on the xbox side you can only change the graphics settings on the old Gen version.

You can't do it in game, but in the PS5 settings menu. Why would anyone lie about this anyway?

Something is wrong with your brain if you take that comment as an attack accusing you of lying.

Read it to yourself again slowly and please point out any portion of that which would lead you to interpret that comment as an accusation of lying.

You're either inferring he is lying or is confused (less likely). What other way is there really to take it?
