Yep, here it is, the annual "I'm getting beat by guys using directional/timing/analog/RNG input methods"...
Only one method allows you to hit pitches at the ankles or near the ears for a bomb on a consistant basis: zone.
Use timing for 10 games and see how you do... I bet you won't get past the 3rd inning of your first game before reverting back; it sucks.
Fake news. My friend uses it and makes CS every season for years. Some of you simply don’t understand that the hitting in this game relies a ton on luck.
Sure there's luck involved. No one said otherwise.
Then why is OP getting blasted? He wants directional removed because there’s no skill and 100% luck….which makes no sense during competitive online.
Why is OP being blasted? Have you not been reading his comments?
You are really going to die on a hill of making him just some person who wants balance?
Everything he said about directional is true, it’s pure luck. Why is that allowed during competitive online. Everyone’s trying to twist things around and skate around what this post is about.
Why is a pure luck hitting system a thing in competitive online and why can’t they match them together if they don’t want to remove it from online?
First of all, you make luck sound like a good thing,
It's not, being at the mercy of only RNG with no control means more bad luck.Yes, sometimes they'll win a game, but most likely the opponent they were playing was pretty bad at zone and/or was using directional also. Maybe they'd win 2 out of 100 times against a really really good zone hitter.
And I know you'll come back at me and say "Well they should win 0 out of 100 times" and I'll tell you I really don't care. That's a good enough ratio for me while making it more inclusive.
Copy that. You can win online competitive games on TS with the push of a single button and some good old RNG/luck going your way.
Sounds like legit gameplay to me.
Sure, and you can win the lottery to, you could get struck by lightning, you could inherit something from your long lost relative. All these things could happen, but it doesn't make them happen all that often or enough to matter to the overall picture
We’re talking about video gameplay in which they claim user skill reigns supreme, you said luck can win you a game so which is it? User skill or luck. I don’t care if someone wins 1 game out of 100….if they won by luck against an opponent who had better skills…they’re claim is false, period, and why do they keep saying it?
If a team wins 99 out of 100 games, they are reigning supreme.
Except for that 1 game lol.
1 game is nothing, it's white noise, it's not statistically relevant.
In the overall game, the big picture, stick skills reign supreme.
To you 1 game may be nothing. But to others who take the game seriously, or that 1 game was to move up a rank or 1 win away from whatever reward….it can be frustrating and hence this is a place to vent/ask questions/make suggestions.
1/100 games IS irrelevant. If you are on the cusp of WS and you lose to a directional hitter ( which has never happened because they aren’t in the CS) you have between 99-199 games before that happens again, it takes two wins to get back to where you were. So yeah what happened during the other 197 games? 197 Ls against directional hitting isn’t bad luck, it’s dog water.
Don’t sit there and pretend you are asking questions or making suggestions, a suggestion would be “try to get better or go play fortnite if you lose to a directional hitter then get banned cuz you can’t take it like the scrub of a comp video gamer you are” you aren’t comp…you’ve never been comp…you’ll never comp.
My buddy makes CS every season and has so for years using directional, he even gets into the high 800’s…your claim is false.
Anything else you want to make up?
Alexa, what is anecdotal evidence?

You know what, I wish SDS would match zone with zone and timing with timing, just so I never have see another thread about this topic. It's a fact that directional users are actually at a disadvantage, but if people don't want to believe it, there is nothing more that needs to be said about it.
Yea but then they’ll complain that it’s not very they never get matched with the inferior “stick skills” of the directional hitter for that easy win. Arguments change easily when they’re made of straw.

I'm sure he stopped posting because he was trying to get his stream working so he could show everyone how easy it is to win using directional in ranked.
Or he got suspended for comments targeting a certain demographic that has nothing to do with the subject of this thread. I got suspended for something that wasn't even inflammatory or directed at someone here, so it's probable.

I got suspended for a yo mama joke....a bad one. Will Smith didn't even slap me for it. Mainly because it was one he used in 1992 on Fresh Prince.....

Ok serious question. How do you even know what your opponent isnusing? The Pci feedback is broke. Please explain
You don’t. These two completely different and in no way the same “individuals” don’t know what they’re talking about.
Once again, if it’s so unfair that someone might be using timing or directional against you, then why aren’t you switching to get that sweet sweet luck?
Now I’ll wait for the purposefully obtuse answer.
I'd like to thank you on behalf of everyone for this post. LMFAO. I'm really hoping for an answer to this.

Here’s the answer and it’s been said before.
Nobody has said “WINNING” is easy (as in majority of your games) with directional.
What they are saying: It absolutely sucks to play a directional hitter who is consistently getting good RNG throughout the game and putting up runs with half the effort/skill of his zone opponent. That directional hitter is more than likely using directional because he/she doesn’t have the skill to compete with using zone but due to luck/RNG can still beat an opponent who is better at the game. If online is meant to be competitive then opponents should be using the same interface. You don’t see auto aim in shooter games or cars that steer themselves in racing games, right?
Everyone is twisting words around and skating around the issue that as of right now, you can use a handicap in a competitive online game and win….NOT ALL THE TIME but still win, and when you get that win against an opponent who is better than you skill wise but the game didn’t play that way, it’s frustrating for the better player and they voice that on a site dedicated to the game.

Not true. Directional Hitting is much more difficult to achieve successful ab's compared to Zone....I would much rather face a Directional Hitter in an online game. Also, you failed to mention that the timing windows are ridiculously short in timing hitting methods, as compared to Zone.
Regardless, if you perceive a hitting method to be better than the other, than use it!

But the question that everyone keeps asking you is, why don't you use it?
If you want an answer to why it's used in competitive online play you'd have to ask the devs or more likely their bosses. While you're at it, can you ask why they got rid of Team Affinity, why I can't get a Robbie Alomar card in 21 and most importantly....how to change my icon on here.
As many have stated in this forum, while directional does rely on some luck, it is a disadvantage and therefore, any player worth his or her salt will not be using it. It is a blip, an anomaly. Is it lame that you can lose a game or two to luck? Yes. It's also lame luck that a squirrel ran across the plate in the 2011 NLDS and somehow the Cardinals started hitting again. (wait, no that was awesome). It was also luck that the Tigers had a 9 day layoff (due to their dominance in the first 2 rounds) before the 2006 WS and their pitchers made like 5 errors which helped the Cards win in 5 games (actually that was awesome too).
Luck is a part of the game. Luck, weather, human error (no Jim Joyce I'm not looking at you), momentum, shadows from the sun, fans who catch baseballs instead of Moises Alou or Tony Tarasco. Birds, cats, squirrels, rocks, sprinklers that rob Mickey Mantle of his knees, these are all a part of the game. Did you know that until 1954, players use to leave their gloves on the field when they went in to hit? So there were 9 gloves scattered around the field every inning, every game for the first 78 years of MLB? I bet that never had anything to do with an outcome.
You may think I'm skirting around the issue. But what everyone is trying to tell you, is the results of a directional hitter beating a zone hitter due to pure RNG luck are negligible. It happens so infrequently, it doesn't warrant an investigation. If you really want to be a crusader for change, find out why someone who is 8-41 lifetime in RS can't be matched up with players his ability level? Like a sleeping
. Or a toaster? And most importantly, and I can't stress this enough.....how do I xhange my icon on here?????

I’ve already told you why I don’t use directional, a couple times actually. Zone rewards you better/more often….directional is pure luck and I choose not to play that style.
Do you know what RNG means? The magic word in there is RANDOM….. so absolutely a directional player can RANDOMLY get good numbers CONSISTENTLY, again it’s all about LUCK. On the flip side, they can consistently get bad numbers and produce nothing….either way they’re just swinging away with half the effort of a zone player and if the numbers go they’re way….they’re golden. How is that play style competitive? They’re literally playing with not skill but LUCK…..while using half the effort.

Just more humble bragging. We get it your “stick skills reign supreme” and you’re so incredible at the game that you should never lose, especially to lowly directional swinging losers.

LMFAO. I'm really hoping for an answer to this.
.....6 years later......still waiting.
All of this word salad and yet not even close to an answer to the question. Not even in the ballpark. Not even in the same league.
If directional users are getting all of this RNG luck, then why aren’t you switching to it to compensate?
You won’t answer because you would rather construct straw man arguments about “directional hitters getting consistently good RNG”. You have no way of qualifying a statement like that.
Argle bargle…
Just more humble bragging. We get it your “stick skills reign supreme” and you’re so incredible at the game that you should never lose, especially to lowly directional swinging losers.
Interesting response. Have a great day!

The one fault you obviously are missing is online you don't get rewarded consistently. If you throw pitches in bad places yes, you can get lit up but that is kind of how it should be but if you paint the lines and corners, these directional hitters rarely get anything. I would love to see real evidence that you can crank homers on balls in thw dirt that people claim using directional. I would love to see anyone try to do a good solid run in ranked using directional and have real success. It doesn't happen, plain and simple and there is a reason people use and try to master zone.

You went 4 for 4 in a game and that's consistent? My buddy plays zone and makes it to world series every time, so what? A one off is not consistency. You do not get rewarded as much as you do as putting the pci on the ball, plain and simple. It's been that way for years and will always be that way but keep telling yourself that youre right, it certainly seems like you believe it.
I mean if it's so consistently good, I just don't know why people don't use it, they must be just wanting the game to be harder for them considering how good directional is.

Jesus Christ some of you like to twist words around to fit your narrative. Go back and read what I said, I’m not typing it again. I never said “it’s so consistently good”….seriously read what I said, word for word and come back to talk to me if you want.
