USA Conquest Map

I rolled through the conquests last year so easily. So far this map is killing me. I seemingly can’t get guys out when I am tying to close out the game.
Also I Have lost a majority of my sims! Last night I lost repeatedly when summing 5-1 or 6-2 etc in my favor! That never happened last year.
Also there does not seem to be all the packs that were in the maps last year.

That’s what I’m saying. It didn’t seem like the AI was as aggressive before but now they routinely attack with 3-1.

Stealing fans is never a waste of time, because it gives you the amount of fans you steal. Which especially early on, will double the amount of reinforcements you can use. I cleared the USA map last year in no time by stealing fans on legend every single turn. It allows you to clear almost half the map without most of the strongholds having a lot of reinforcements and most hexagons are still empty.
The only downside to this is that you have to be able to win on legend consistently. But even then, stealing on AS or HOF will still net you 3 or 4 fans per turn respectively which is still worth it.
I do steal fans on All-Star and it still pays off for me.
-
I think it's already been said, but you want to encircle Colorado first and beat them on all star, then take all of the space in the north west to build up reinforcements. From there you want to head south and then push east. The first few after Colorado will be veteran and then it's all rookie from there. Stealing fans in definitely a waste of time.
-
Just capture territories and stack fans until you can play strongholds on veteran or rookie. That’s the only games you should ever play
-
Hell no, don't steal. The map is a huge grind as it is.
- Take Colorado on turn 1. They'll fight you first; restart if you take losses. Play on AS and win.
- Alternately reinforce E and SE while expanding W and SW. This is the bulk of the work.
- When a perimeter you have formed, start filling in.
- Take out teams from NW going down the coast. Always on Rookie. At this point it's just grind.
About 1/2 through second grind, will probably NOT do another for a long time (until these cards spike in value).
-
If you want to do it in the fewest turns maybe stealing fans is worth it, If you want to do the map in the quickest time though it is quicker to take one turn to just reinforce only (not saying you should) than to play the steal fan games.
Every 3 Hexes controlled gives you 1 fan for reinforcement
-
Don’t forget to fortify your strongholds after you capture them, sucks to have to defend them with extra games.
-
I don’t think it’s a waste of time because I’m playing the game lol. It’s just as much of a waste of time in any mode really.
-
Thanks all.
Just two more questions:
To anyone that completed, or anyone that wants to answer:
Do you try to get the strongholds out of the way before you fill in/attack territories of strongholds that you already beat?
Like if you go after Seattle but they have about 10 territories left after you take the stronghold; do you sim those, to get extra guys, or just head straight to the next stronghold in a line that's fast as possible? Then sim after you captured all 30 strongholds?
I keep reading about walls. And reinforcing strongholds that you already captured.
Naturally if you captured a stronghold and you already have a majority of the hexagons around them; you don't need to keep guys there.
But say I capture Colorado; before I head West, how many should I keep in that stronghold or should I put 2-3 fans in each hexagon around the eastern part of Colorado?

I take the strongholds as I come to them, as long as I have enough fans to play at my preferred difficulty. I try to plan out my path so that situation happens and so I don't blockade myself in or leave myself at risk.
Just a few other things about the way I play.
- I always encircle my strongholds with one or two hexes if possible.
- I take Colorado first but not on turn 1. I may steal from them on turn 1 or 2.
- I head West first. There is just too much uncontested territory out that way.
- I keep an eye on the Twins when they are encroaching on my stronghold I reinforce there next round to hold them off.
- I never leave more than a single fan in a stronghold. If I have the surrounded by my own hexes then they do not need more

This should never be an issue if you're reinforcing smartly.

People object to how much time the tile game occupies and how it gets in the way of playing actual baseball. That's fair, and it's why this map per se is so ugh. But once you break through the first phase, it's really easy to crush your enemies and hear the lamentation of the women.

1, 3, and 4 are key. I build a wall close to home to keep the Twins, Cubs, etc., at bay but take out the Rockies immediately and then head west.
I swallow territory first. I don't play a single game (other than Colo) until the entire map west of my starting point is mine. Then I crush the west coast while still marching like Sherman to the east coast (should have enough reinforcements to do both with moving fans too).
-
I'll be honest I don't even care about reinforcing my stuff. When I finished it I only lost one stronghold from all the ones I took. I basically just put all my reinforcements on one territory and take as much land as possible every turn. I also only play games on veteran as changing difficulties throughout messes with my timing.

So 1 fan in each hexagon and make a circle or two around Colorado?

I start by building a buffer around my home base before I go after Colorado but yes, I will usually put a buffer around Colorado as well. Arizona seems to close in from the south and others from the west.
-
I have no desire to do this just so I can get a 88 Piazza. Maybe if it were a better card.

Ok. So just go clockwise/counter clockwise around your home base for 2 rounds and then go after Colorado and do the same. Thanks!

You get the diamond jersey for each team which sell for 1000 stubs. Plus the prospect packs from each division. Then all the hidden packs. Worth it imo.
