USA Conquest Map

Don't bother. Takes a little longer / few more turns to get going and building up your fan amounts but I didn't waste my time "stealing" fans.
-
I’m not sure if it’s the game or the PS5 console, but I am also loving the quickness to sim games when taking over hexagons, seems like it less than 3 seconds as opposed to 10+ seconds for each in the past
-
Stealing fans is never a waste of time, because it gives you the amount of fans you steal. Which especially early on, will double the amount of reinforcements you can use. I cleared the USA map last year in no time by stealing fans on legend every single turn. It allows you to clear almost half the map without most of the strongholds having a lot of reinforcements and most hexagons are still empty.
The only downside to this is that you have to be able to win on legend consistently. But even then, stealing on AS or HOF will still net you 3 or 4 fans per turn respectively which is still worth it.

To me, it is only worth it if you are trying to finish the map in the fewest possible rounds. Otherwise the time spent in the Steal Fans games negates the benefits, at least for me.
I finished on turn 23 and only ever steal fans once, and that is against the Rockies early on so I can play them on Veteran (I play all games on Vet)

I think most people who repeat the map for the packs do want to finish it in the fewest rounds possible. If not, then I guess it doesn't really matter but it will make simming a lot harder because all of the strongholds will have a lot of reinforcements. Especially on the final part of the board.

Not in my opinion, especially doing it on rookie since you get only one extra. I just immediately take over the Rockies in two turns, use all that empty space in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho etc, and build a wall from there.
Take the west coast, move south and take Kansas/Texas, and then use that wall to move east
Yeah; I'm torn right now.
I beat Colorado and Minnesota of All Star and have some territories; but I have a feeling I would be better off restarting and doing what you said.
Only thing is I would have to play Colorado and Minnesota again and I don't know if that will mess up those Prospect packs????
I would assume not because I haven't got any yet.
No it won't mess up the prospect packs if you restart and they are repeatable so you can get as many of the prospects as you want.
I will say i normally play 2 steal fans games. One against Minnesota and one against Colorado from there you can play every stronghold on Veteran or above. With simulation improved you can fly through the map this year.
My only trouble came at the end with having to win 4 games against Boston (easy enough) and 4 against Cincinnati (who i could not beat to save my life)
When i got to the east coast, the Yankees had 7 strongholds lol. Last year, i couldnt hit Cole to save my life but it wasnt so bad this year.
-
I had to restart. The CPU is way more aggressive this year about attacking. I had taken pretty much the entire east side except for two Red Sox strongholds. But the As had taken the whole rest of the map and were just reinforced out the [censored]. I couldn’t make any headway.
-
No Stealing.
Start by building a wall that runs N-to-S splitting between Rockies and Royals. I work my way east and build up forces on the western wall to prevent push from Colorado, Arizona, etc. Once I take out the East, I finished the entire westside in about 5 turns after.
I like going to the east first because there are more territories to acquire. If you do not act fast, you end up playing BOS or NYY 4-5 times, which gets boring.

When the game dropped I started off east cause the prospects and jerseys were expensive and picked up so extra stubs. Going back west sucked. I had to probably sim 2.5 hours and played the Rookies 12 times cause they took over the west. At this point I suggest taking out the west first.
If you go west first, the Redsox dominate the east. That should seem like a problem but their 5th starter is Rich Hill and he pitches softballs for batting practice.

First time ever doing the USA map. I’m just interested in finishing, not necessarily in the fewest turns. It’s been a grind. Went West first, stealing from Rockies and mariners to play all games on Vet. (I’m not that good)
I’m at the point now where I have a 12 game series versus the RedSox to finish up the map!!
I’ve enjoyed it. The CPU is definitely more aggressive in moving around the map and in actual gameplay.

I rolled through the conquests last year so easily. So far this map is killing me. I seemingly can’t get guys out when I am tying to close out the game.
Also I Have lost a majority of my sims! Last night I lost repeatedly when summing 5-1 or 6-2 etc in my favor! That never happened last year.
Also there does not seem to be all the packs that were in the maps last year.

That’s what I’m saying. It didn’t seem like the AI was as aggressive before but now they routinely attack with 3-1.

I do steal fans on All-Star and it still pays off for me.

I think it's already been said, but you want to encircle Colorado first and beat them on all star, then take all of the space in the north west to build up reinforcements. From there you want to head south and then push east. The first few after Colorado will be veteran and then it's all rookie from there. Stealing fans in definitely a waste of time.
-
Just capture territories and stack fans until you can play strongholds on veteran or rookie. That’s the only games you should ever play
-
Hell no, don't steal. The map is a huge grind as it is.
- Take Colorado on turn 1. They'll fight you first; restart if you take losses. Play on AS and win.
- Alternately reinforce E and SE while expanding W and SW. This is the bulk of the work.
- When a perimeter you have formed, start filling in.
- Take out teams from NW going down the coast. Always on Rookie. At this point it's just grind.
About 1/2 through second grind, will probably NOT do another for a long time (until these cards spike in value).
-
If you want to do it in the fewest turns maybe stealing fans is worth it, If you want to do the map in the quickest time though it is quicker to take one turn to just reinforce only (not saying you should) than to play the steal fan games.
Every 3 Hexes controlled gives you 1 fan for reinforcement
-
Don’t forget to fortify your strongholds after you capture them, sucks to have to defend them with extra games.
-
I don’t think it’s a waste of time because I’m playing the game lol. It’s just as much of a waste of time in any mode really.
-
Thanks all.
Just two more questions:
To anyone that completed, or anyone that wants to answer:
Do you try to get the strongholds out of the way before you fill in/attack territories of strongholds that you already beat?
Like if you go after Seattle but they have about 10 territories left after you take the stronghold; do you sim those, to get extra guys, or just head straight to the next stronghold in a line that's fast as possible? Then sim after you captured all 30 strongholds?
I keep reading about walls. And reinforcing strongholds that you already captured.
Naturally if you captured a stronghold and you already have a majority of the hexagons around them; you don't need to keep guys there.
But say I capture Colorado; before I head West, how many should I keep in that stronghold or should I put 2-3 fans in each hexagon around the eastern part of Colorado?
