I played quite a bit last night. When I finished it hit me…..The improvements are minuscule, I could really not even notice them for gameplay.

Makes me wonder if I really want to spend a ton of time rebuilding my team. I feel like a major mark right now.

This is why I didn’t buy, felt that way in the tech test. I’ll continue to check for gameplay reviews before I decide if it’s worth it to start all over

same here buddy - so happy i dodged a bullet here - SDS is a joke - feel sorry for the guys who were excited on early access

Yeah if your going to listen to a review of the game, don’t get it from guys complaining there is no POTM programs on April 1st.

you are right - i can just listen to literally this whole forum going on about all of the problems to justify my decision

Even then I would be leery. The forums for almost every game released are full of complainers and naysayers on day 1. People love to come to forums and complain. Not nearly as many come to share good feedback.

absolutely mate but i would absolutely love to hear what is so good about the game come launch day - reading this forum i am seeing none of it minus some small QOL updates like flipping packs and how they open up now etc.

The format has changed there is no question about that, I think it's for the better cause after 3 years it was stale. Is there less "content" then last year at launch sure but I find it interesting that some of those who cry cards aren't content are all of sudden worried there are less content.

It's a good change it feels like getting cards will be a grind and not everyone should have the best possible roster right away unless they drop serious $$

I am enjoying what's there and it's alot of things to do what seems to be missing is multiple of the same thing to do like instead of having 4 conquest maps there is only the US map which was what it was like in 17, 18, 19 and 20

You're right, of course it's too early for any POTM of TN content. Perhaps I'm naive but there isn't even a section to put it in. I'm assuming that's because it's not going to be the same.

My point is simply that they've consolidated a lot which is great for people who play multiple games or just want to grind as fast as they can. But for offline players, which I mostly am, it feels a but thin. This could all change when I actually start playing g games and missions and learn more about what's entailed.

I am probably in the minority but I liked to take my time with Team Affinity and do full roster builds and then play only games and player missions to earn points. It kept me occupied for 2 months in TA5 alone. Of course I could have skipped through with exchanges and showdown. But why would I pay for a game that I skip through?

I'm obviously a bit jaded. Last year I started in May and there was so much content it took me a while to get caught up. I'm in no rush to build an RS team. I just don't want to run out of things to do.

But, you are right, I have no idea what's coming in the other programs tab. Or what the featured programs will entail. I've already read some things on here that I didn't explore yesterday and perhaps I'm being way to judgy.

You are asking valid questions and concerns i am laffin at the sky is falling doomsdayers. They don't usually add a section until there is something to put in it. If it was overhauled it wouldv'e been announced.

I would venture to say it's b/c there is alot to do. I think they want people to play other modes so people get full experience. I know RTTS and Franchise is not alot of peoples forte but game exp is night n day in alot of ways imo.

21 spoiled people...you are right. Shouldn't that be the standard now?

I really truly think I'm in the minority when I say, the fact that cards will require more work is not the problem..there is simply less to do as an offline player. At least at first glance. But, you pointed some things out that I hadn't noticed or explored. Tonight, assuming the servers are working. I'll get to really dive in. And I really hope I laugh at myself for being concerned. Some of things you mentioned sound cool like the gold cards pxp missions.

I’m about as harsh on SDS as anyone, but again, they have the best content team across any Create your own Dream team sports mode and I play them all. Instead of a few good days of TA content every few months and the exact same programs it will be more constant and more importantly, like they’ve said more diverse. Which is what I’m actually really excited about. They’ll have themed programs based around different eras, different styles of players, they just have tons of options now.

Day 1 hasn’t always been the biggest content drop, I doubt it will be this year. The packs are limited now, but every single program path isn't going to be the same this year. There won’t be the same “classic show pack” at tier 10 for 9 straight programs. They’ll probably have an entire program based on “Classic” MLB the show cards and you might get to choose 12 bosses from POTM programs you’ve never even seen before. I really do think it’s going to be a good year for content.

Yeah, I’m still undecided. Trying to play the long game here and be smart, usually after 1 or 2 months the game starts to show all the flaws when the good cards start coming out. We’ll see then if it’s really worth it

I finally woke up in the middle of the night to check the game out.

Mini Seasons looks cool. Great addition.

Otherwise, we have an innings program and a few repeat conquests. Team Affinity is truly gone. Not changed, gone. They made the innings program more interactive but this game is missing a huge chuck of offline content.

I do think Online content looks more inviting to the offline player, but wow...it's just so disappointing.

Before you all jump on here and argue which is welcome of course, my main beef is not that you can't get all the cards. I'm sure in time we will be able to get all of them. But they reduced the grindable content by a vast margin. Instead of 6 huge rewards paths for Team Affinity, 1 huge innings reward path + the daily moments reward path(again, not focused on the rewards part, but the path...the grindable content) and reduced it all to 1 that's shorter than the innings program. Plus, there doesn't look to be weekly moments and there's no section for monthly programs, maybe those will be in other programs?

I'm hoping in the coming weeks we get "other programs" to supplement what's missing, but for now....this is basically a much smaller version of last year's game.

Most of you know, I'm really not a negative poster. I'm still hoping I'm proven wrong. If Mini Seasons turns out to be a ton of fun and time consuming, I'd happily walk back these comments. It also remains to be seen what featured programs are on the horizon.

Anyway, I know nobody asked...I'm hoping to jump in here in the coming days and weeks and say I'm wrong, but thus far I'm just mourning the loss of my favorite program.

And no, I don't take this all too seriously. Of course there are bigger problems in life than a lack of video game content. But I was hoping to be a hermit and grind The Show all weekend but there isn't much to do.

Can I play this without spending any money?

    RTTS: untouched from 21

That is just untrue. They did multiple things to RTTS to try and improve it from last year. Jury's out on the quality of those changes, but saying it is unchanged is not honest.

What did they change about RTTS besides adding more podcast scenes that most people skip?

I'm sure you can. And I'm sure there will be more opportunities to get the cards. But for now it just doesn't seem like there is much content for offline only players. I'll spend some time (if the servers allow) on the game exploring but from everything I've read and seen so far...it's an online players game now.

We can't be playing the same game cause I have bee playing all day offline and have so much to do.

Mini season is awesome I am loving it,

    Been doing some moments, conquest

Scored my first chase pack with a diamond pull 85 live series.

Please explain what you would be doing differently as an offline player then what I mentioned above?

I thought Mini Seasons and Conquest both weren't working.

Alright, I'll shut up and give it another go.

Only complaint I have this year so far is no "bonus xp" for conquest like we had last year. Hopefully it gets worked in soon. Would just be a nice boost for those working a lot or can't get on all the time.

Not nearly as many come to share good feedback.

absolutely mate but i would absolutely love to hear what is so good about the game come launch day - reading this forum i am seeing none of it minus some small QOL updates like flipping packs and how they open up now etc.

the only good things are the miniscule QOL updates around the game that you would miss if you werent looking for them. but none of that is substantial enough to create depth.

    RTTS: untouched from 21
MTO: untouched except now you can play a second season and theres an offseason (as if anyone actually wanted to spend more time playing this mode they keep force feeding us)
    Franchise: untouched once again
DD: They added mini seasons and consolidated content paths.

its just a reskin of 21 with content updates and a roster update pretty much. Very Madden-esque

I know they’re saying they consolidated paths, but that is not really accurate, they got rid of paths.

I just grind US conquest and now doing that plus mini seasons is a hugely welcome addition. I found the Team Affinity to be tedious and I'm glad it's gone. They mentioned monthly awards on the DD stream and I'm sure there will be some form of Topps Now. And there will be All Star content, etc. It'll be just as easy to have a team of 99s.

You really talking about all star content? Might as well start getting hyped for finest. I’ve never complained about the show’s content but this is buns.

Team Affinity isn't extra content in terms of something to do. It's just extra cards. It was a ton of annoying moments, annoying Showdown, and stats to accrue in OTHER modes of play. The only thing we're kind of losing is the cards, but who cares. As long as there's other ways to grind out 99s it's fine.

It was an easy way to compete with people who drop 2 thousand dollars on the game day one, now instead of 4 hours to complete it, it’ll take 50+ to complete less than half of it. Absolute L.
Totally agree, they definitely put way too much weight into the opinions of people who play the game as a living

    RTTS: untouched from 21

That is just untrue. They did multiple things to RTTS to try and improve it from last year. Jury's out on the quality of those changes, but saying it is unchanged is not honest.

What did they change about RTTS besides adding more podcast scenes that most people skip?

They now allow you to create multiple , different, RTTS characters.
You are not forced into playing a two way player. They allow you to choose pitcher, position player or two way.

Those are the biggest. Maybe that does not excite you personally but those are changes that I am guessing were pretty major from a development view.

I mean last year all it took was one dialog option to be just a position player or just a pitcher so that's not that big of deal imo. Multiple RTTS characters is nice but that's a kind of miniscule QOL change, not actually upgrading RTTS itself
