I think it needs to he stated that giving away a game for free on a service like PS+ or game pass to attract new players to a game. In the case of MLB thise who love the game pre-ordered a month ago when the special edition was announced.

Did anyone bother to look at this guy’s track record and see he’s almost never right?

So, if this is in fact true and you preorder; you're paying $100 for a handful of free cards, 25K in stubs, and 4 extra days to play?

Heck, it may be better to get the game for free and buy stubs.

It depends on how much you value those 4 days, because it is definitely better to get game for free and buy stubs otherwise.

The game will be unplayable for the first week or so, paying to enjoy that 4 days earlier is not something I’m interested in doing, thankfully I have game-pass so it comes with my subscription.

So Playstation always makes their ps plus monthly free games available on the first Tuesday of the month, which in this case would be April 5th. They also always release the official list on the Wednesday BEFORE the games are available for free. If you're thinking about waiting to see if The Show will be free you'll still have time to preorder and play, since April's free monthly game list should be out on March 30th. That's assuming Sony follows the same pattern they always have.

That being said, if the show is a free game this year then you 1000% are better off just buying 100 bucks worth of stubs over the preorder unless you really need to be on for 4 days early access.... 5 if you wait until the Tuesday for ps plus.

I doubt it's going to be included in April's line up, but you never know....

The reasoning people are using is the fact that the free games are out the 5th...and The Show is coming out on the 5th. The only other time i remember a game launching for free was Hell Let Loose on PS5. That game was showing in the PSN store for 2 months and there was no option to preorder.

Sony would be in so much [censored] if they took $100 pre-orders for this game only to release it free 4 days later.

All the article writer did was note these games come out the fifth and said they could then be free because that’s the same date as PS plus monthly games. The show comes out of he first only for certain pre orders. The writer used this as clickbait, pure and simple, which makes him stupid and he thinks we’re stupid to actually believe these games will be free.

These games have pre order bonuses and have been pre orders for a while at full price. Asking people to pay full retail price for pre order of a game and then giving that game away free at launch with no prior knowledge that it would be free is a lawsuit waiting to happen. No way any of this is real.

Didn't they have preorders for the Xbox last year before they announced it would be on Gamepass?

Yes. I bought it. Didn’t bother with the refund since I game share with my brother. I find it crazy Sony doesn’t have it on there service. Not fair to dedicated fans.

Stupid enough to keep people talking about his article in the official forum of the game plus OS plus I assume reddit as well. And now it’s in our browser history so it comes up as suggested link when we start typing stuff into the address bar. 😉

But yeah I agree with you, it’s total clickbait. The usual PS Plus monthly games predictions.

Likely a clickbait con job. I wouldn’t even click the link. I don’t intend to.

That's my favorite time to play. Yes h2h will be a mess, but I will have no interest in h2h the first week with plenty of content and grinding to stay busy.

This article from IGN may be worth a read.
    https://www.ign.com/articles/ps5-spartacus-reveal-next-week-xbox-game-pass

    From the article:
PlayStation could unveil its upcoming subscription service as early as next week. Bloomberg reports that PlayStation’s Xbox Game Pass competitor will get a proper unveiling soon. The site previously reported that PlayStation was working on a similar service under the codename “Spartacus. Sources say PlayStation will have a “splashy lineup of hit games,” and will officially merge PlayStation Plus with PlayStation Now, Sony’s cloud streaming service.

I still have my doubts about 22 being a Playstation Plus game at launch, but if they wanted to push subscriptions for this new merged service (possibly the higher tier), then the timing might line up pretty nicely.

I've seen that article, but I don't think they will actually release this service until the holidays. Companies don't usually release something within days of it being announced

This already happened last year. There are definitely people that pre ordered on Xbox only to have it come out on game pass. There is also a ton of people who owned both systems and had no knowledge of it being free on xbox shortly after release. Honestly for years the pre orders have been pretty weird, sometimes even giving rewards for last years games even though people might not own it. Regardless at the end of the day Sony is getting Sony users to pay for a game that is free for Microsoft users on a superior system. Par for the course from this PR team. Diehard baseball fans choose Sony for this game and Xbox users just get it all for free.

Xbox Game Pass has first party games day and date, and they don't come off. Sony would definitely not do that, which I believe is what they are referring to in the article. I could see them putting some of their more niche games up day and date, and then they would take them down at some point. Granted this game kinda sucked, but they gave away Destruction All-Stars at launch and that was a console exclusive.

Many feel like having The Show on Game Pass and not PSNow was a bad look. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up on this new service to get more eyes on it. They may have held back on this announcement (as opposed to Game Pass) because they weren't ready to actually reveal the service to the public.

Dragon could certainly be right about the actual launch coming months later from the announcement, which would make all of this speculation a moo point, or a cows opinion.

Gotcha. I would be pretty disappointed in SDS if it turns out they took pre-orders on a game that they knew would be available (essentially) for free. Oh well, either way I'm starting to get stoked for some new MLBTS!

MLB The Show being on Game Pass the last two years was not Sony’s idea. MLB threw a ton of cash their way to make it happen to get more people playing videogame baseball. Sony likes making money and having the game on both subscription services is not a smart business decision. Sure they have a revenue stream from selling stubs, but in no way is it anything close to what games like Fortnite rake in that allows those games to be F2P. The fact that there are this many replies in a thread based on a clickbait article some idiot that has no clue about anything wrote is mind-numbing.
