I know this is not appropriate for the DD forum, but has anyone ever had luck with friendly leagues? I’ve done them before in madden and they were fun with active people.
Leagues are great. The problem is getting everyone to commit to playing when you are supposed to because everyone is playing missions or something trying to get better players.
I vaguely remember you trying to organize one. If you do again, count me in.

As the title reads…do you guys have fun sticking to offline?
It was my first year for the show and I’ve honestly enjoyed it. Server problems and all.
I’ve finally had enough of Ranked Seasons. And no, this is not me blaming SDS. I’m blaming myself. I’m so widely inconsistent that it has taken the fun out of the game. In my opinion, the whole point of DD is to build your team with players to like to play other’s teams online. I do enjoy particular events. But that gets me back to my problem. The point of DD, for me, is playing with A team with the players I work for.
So, restating my question…do you offline players still have fun grinding out for players to play offline? And is there anyone like me who had been happy “retiring” from online play?
I enjoy playing offline. I've never liked online competitive play for this game—server issues and network lag is just not fun. I don't need to put any more stress on myself than I already have, lol.
Besides, I've finally figured out how to do well in the market, so I can make stubs without the tedium of online play. And bullying the CPU is quite satisfying.
-
I've put in over a thousand hours each of the last three years and have never played an online game of any kind. I see all the constant toxicity being posted about and the constant freeze offs and whatnot and that just doesn't appeal to me. Sure maybe I'll have a good game against someone once in a while but my time is too valuable to have to hope for that.
As someone said earlier, I know exactly what I'm getting with offline and truly enjoy it. Maybe part of it is generational. I'm 45 and so growing up playing RBI Baseball and Bases Loaded on NES on into each future console generation there was obviously no online play until the 2000's. So anyone in there twenties or younger has pretty much had online available for their entire life. Now of course plenty of you could me my age or older and only play online, but for someone like me who is simply a diehard lover of the game of baseball and baseball cards, I will always only play DD offline. It has the perfect amount of new content weekly for me to keep up with amidst the real world.

Hope this helps.
I stopped playing this franchise about 2-3 years ago because online play was HORRIBLE.
I stated back up late this year only because I got the game for $10.
I did mostly offline stuff to get caught up on content.
Once I got pretty caught up; I decided to try the BR program.
I suffered through it and once I got to 100pts; I stopped playing BR.
I recently tried the new Event (Part 2).
Tonight, when I got home from shopping I turned the game on and entered an Event game.
I was the home team; so I pitched first.
After my opponent, who had a WS icon and a 20x 12-0 banner, decided to hold R2 FOR THE DURATION of the whole half inning, decided to try to take an extra lead when he got someone on base, and bunt danced the WHOLE half inning; I just shut off the game and watched movies with the wife.
IF, and that's a big if, I buy 22 right away; I'm going to play nothing but online.
Once I come across a player, that I want, that is tied to either me playing a H2H or will cost my 1M in stubs and has a wait-list of longer than 100, I'll be completely done with this game.
I may play offline franchise; but if I incur what I mentioned; I'll be done with DD and will only buy the new game when it's on sale for $20 or under.

Whilst this is a grind thread, I’ll pipe up in support of Franchise mode. It’s all about the long game.

Man, in the Triple Play Baseball days '97-'00, I used to play multiple 162 game seasons! At least one Mets, one Indians back in the day. Excuse me, Guardians. I despise that name!

Yes, I just love using the cards of players i like, that is what is most important to me, earning and using cards. Too much about ranked is about winning. I hate losing as much as the next guy, but the win at all cost mentally that leads to people finding any way to exploit the game to get a win is just too much for me, or the toxic R2 holding, sore losers who want to say nasty things to you after they lose, even when I have messages off. I have only played vs people when the mission requirements for getting cards were based on online stats. Sure I have had a few good experiences playing people, but those few bad experiences ruined the entire game for me when it comes to H2H play.
I play this game year round every single day online. What did you experience that makes you feel this way? I only ask because I don't think it's that bad. Of course you get the occasional bunt dancer, R2 holder & pause guy, but thats life.
You never know if the guy you're playing has one hand, a mental illness or a house full of kids. If it gets that bad I just quit and search for another game.
You made it sound like somebody walked in your house and slapped the food out of your mouth.

I played mostly all offline half of the year then played mostly online for the 2nd half of the year. I was kind of scared to play online as this was my first year. Then I played an event and realize that I wasn't nearly as bad as I thought I was compared to a lot of players. I still really like offline also. I enjoy conquest and I also have an obsessive compulsive disorder right now to parallel one ever diamond card in the game so offline is a nice grind when I am tired or at night where I have had a couple of drinks.
-
This was my first year playing DD (previous years I played Franchise). I can honestly say that I had more fun playing offline than online, but then I only played around 10 games online. I came to realize that online gaming was 99% competition, and at my age, I don’t need that anymore. Even now, I play the 11th inning mission each day, and I’m finding cards that are a blast to play with. There is nothing wrong with sticking to offline.

I play strictly offline. I don’t have much time to play and when I do, I tend to get interrupted a lot so players my against players really isn’t possible. Offline has plenty of features now like conquest and all the programs that are available throughout the year. Lastly, when I did play online years ago, it was toxic. I just want to relax and play a baseball game. I guess I’m old school and remember playing a lot of games before the days of online play.
This is me as well. I very rarely play online.
-
I can honestly say I have never played an online DD game and probably never will. I used to play Madden online but quickly realized it’s not for me. I, as others are, are from a time when playing online didn’t exist. So I’d rather spend what little time I have at night, maybe an hour or so, playing offline. I play simply for the enjoyment of playing a video game. And I must say, MLB is by far the superior card collecting offline game of any sports game IMO. This was my first full year of playing DD and I loved every minute of it. Heck I’m still grinding the final inning forever program.

The thing about offline is if your willing to put in a bit of effort you could do it in franchise and make it even more enjoyable. You get the cards from Day 1 and have no reason to wait 6-7 months before you can use whoever you want. You have an actual season to play with stats, awards, trades, contracts. There is a post season with a World Series where you would play against other teams with legends and not the live series whoever’s for the 50th time.
I just don’t get offline DD. Wait months for cards to play teams that never change with no real end game other than cards they could literally already be using or playing against. Borderline psycho.
You don't get legends in franchise.
You don't have missions and other fun RPG elements in Franchise.
You don't have cool things like Showdown.
You can't get special versions of your favorite players.
Most of all, franchise was stale at least 5 years ago and has barely changed since then. There are legends in Franchise, just not all of them and they have different ability stats. But I agree with what you are saying..

Hahahaha, you nailed it. People commit than get caught up in a loop of forever “grinding” for the next card. Too bad, leagues with good dudes ( who You chat party with during the game) are
The best part Of this game to me. -
Yes it is and just as good doing friendlies with the mic

I used to be RS only in years past. Last year I really enjoyed the BR format! Wish I would’ve started playing BR at the beginning of the season. I hope they keep it the same and actually add a bigger variety of throwback cards as rewards. I do enjoy offline missions such as Topps Now and POTM just to mix it up. If I play too much of one mode I get burnt out.
In an unrelated matter, they can get rid of MTO in my opinion but if a lot of people like then keep it. I don’t wanna rain on someone else’s parade.
