Judge and Vlad Buy Order update

I got Vlad today about 1:30. I was around the 40 spot on the list.
Awesome. I looked on the app but some of them seem to be either duplicates or even triplicates, not really sure how to decipher how many actual orders went through.

I was about 200th in line on both, but I earned them both, and cancelled my order. So, you just moved up one spot. You're welcome!
Ok, soooo you're pretty good then? I would really like to just earn them but I could never win 30 games in 1 week.

I believe it's a 2 part event, so you have more than a week. I haven't had much time to play, but I was able to get to 20 wins last night and should be able to hit 30 by Sunday. I believe my opponent quit before the 3rd inning in at least 5 of those, which helped to speed things along a bit. My goal is to get Vlad Jr and Judge before Part 2 just in case the criteria for part 2 sucks. For all I know, it will be another HOF quick count event, but this time with outlier 99 pitches and silver hitters.
The key in this event is to take the lead before your opponent has a chance to pinch hit with Ohtani and then pitch with him for a few innings. I've had a few homeruns against him, but overall he's tougher than the silvers that are out there.

Oh good call. I put together my team without him and started reading about it I actually dove in for a bit and went 3-1 in my first 4 games. I'm a babysteps kinda guy haha. Next time I lose which will probably be my next game, I'll add him and watch out for that happening haha. Funny how a good idea spreads.
Thanks for the advice dude.

Pretty good? I'd say I'm great.
When I say "great", I mean... "average". I win slightly more games than I lose. In the vein of what @PennStateFencer said, you need a plan when playing events. Here's my plan:
-
"Know thyself". I've said this before. If I get into a game with a guy who has WS or 12-0 banners, I'll play for an inning or two to see if I can keep up. If he's smacking everything I throw, I'm out. I need to save time for a more favorable match-up. Also, if I have a bad connection, I quit. I play a lot of games against folks from Puerto Rico. Nice people, bad connections.
-
If you get off to a good start, lots of folks will quit on you as @PennStateFencer said. Your opponent is in the same boat as you are - trying to get wins as fast as possible.
-
Strategy - use the rules to your advantage. As @PennStateFencer said, "use Ohtani". You can only use Silver pitchers in this event, but not all Silvers are created equal. Personally, I did really well with Sale.
-
Use Shippet Stadium! As a side note, it took me 5 or 6 games before I realized the stadium is locked for this event.
In this event, I think I was about .500. If you actually go online and look at my record, I think it says I have less than 30 wins, but I did get to 30 and have Vlad and Judge.
P.S. I achieved my goal of quoting and mentioning @PennStateFencer multiple times in one post. He's a smart guy, so why not?

Sometimes I quote you just to get a response like this hahaha. Thanks, these are excellent tips. Your pal @PennStateFencer would be proud.
Also, I'm starting to learn which Silvers I can rock n roll with. It doesn't hurt if you've P4'd them in to golds either.
And yes, as soon as I lose this next game, Ohtani shall make the cut.

I actually have quite a few Silver pitchers at P4. I play too much.
Also, when you say "As soon as I lose this next game...", don't overthink that. I've set lineups that just didn't feel right, so I forfeited and rebuilt another team. Since entries are free, I do that all the time. (Not trying to be a j3rk, but if you didn't know, from the main Event menu, you can hit L1 to forfeit and start from scratch).
Also, you can't say "Jer k"? Censored? Yikes.

Can Anyone who put their buy orders in post here when they go through. I think I was too late and there is no way I could win 10 games let alone 25 and 30 in events. I think I've won about 30 games all year in all online play (mostly BR). Aka......I suck.
you dont suck, events are a great way to challenge yourself, theres no consequence if you lose, dont be so hard on yourself man, just relax and play
-
Thanks, you guys are right...I'm a little too hard an myself. And I did not know you could forfeit and start over, good to know,:).

So, what you're saying is exploit the parameters of the Event before your opponent?
Now before anyone jumps in me; let me explain that this is SDS's fault and usually when something like that happens; as soon as some glorified YouTuber does it, EVERYONE does it.
The pitching parameters are Silvers or lower. By putting Finest Ohtani on your bench, you are exploiting a programming glitch that SDS didn't think would happen OR knew would happen and plain out doesn't give a flying f about.
It's just like the one year where you could use that one Common SP that had a weird delivery. It was abused to hell and back UNTIL SDS decided to fix it.
Since they're already working on 22; I highly doubt they'll address this exploit now.
This is one of the many reasons that I don't bother with online play anymore. To many people that have a 'must win by any means' attitude.
It's a [censored] video game for pete's sake.

I hear you. I agree it's a glitch, intended or not.
But... If my opponent can exploit it, I'd be at a disadvantage not to.

While that is understandable you can't really use that as an excuse. Just because someone does something doesn't mean everyone else should. Be better than your opponent. These exploits/glitches and the whole 'well my opponent does it' mentality is why online play is horrible.
What's wrong is that SDS didn't think this through. Or if they did; they don't care.
It just reminds me of all the exploits that were/are in Madden that people use to get an advantage. QB Sneak. Manually moving your DE way outside the tackle. That time they had the HB Direct Snap glitch. Etc
What's sad is that there are people who will go out of their way to find these exploits/glitches and once they're posted to YouTube; they're all over the place.
That's the main reason I stopped playing Madden online and a small part of why I don't play alot of games online.

And yes, as soon as I lose this next game, Ohtani shall make the cut.
I've been using Chapman, Wagner, Sale, and Gagne out of the pen a lot. With Chapman and Wagner I throw a lot of off speed and breaking balls. Sometimes I paint the corner with a low and outside fastball after a couple of sliders out of the zone. You might catch them looking...or it could go 500 ft. I'm blanking on most of my righties at the moment and I'm not home to check.
The rotation has been a mix based on daily missions. I had Rays and Mets pitching ones recently. I know May is a popular option with the sinker. I also have done well with Alex Wood.
The key is to have an early hook. Stamina drains for each of the quickcount pitches you don't throw, so you could find yourself in the yellow before you realize it. Confidence can also disintegrate after a couple of batters. Don't be afraid to pull your pitcher if he's getting smacked around.

No. What I said was that you should try to take the lead before your opponent has a chance to pinch hit with Ohtani and then pitch with him for a few innings (as in, your opponent leaves him in). Most opponents leave him in the 9 slot, so if you're pitching well that could give you 2-3 innings to take the lead before they can bring him in.
I certainly hope you didn't sprain your ankle while jumping to conclusions

My best excuse? Most of the time I pinch-hit Ohtani, then at the end of the inning, I forget that he's now in the game and I bring in a reliever anyway. About 2 batters later, I'm saying "CR@P".

If someone brings a gun to a knife fight, you better hope you have one too. Yes it's an exploit, but as @arvcpa_MLBTS stated, if I know my opponent is doing it, I'll be ready to match them. I promise not to include doing it on my citizenship progress report. And of course, I like a fair game, if my opponent pinch hits with someone else, or doesn't leave him in to pitch,, I'll do the same and won't use Ohtani as a pitcher. I have a tiny bit of integrity..
You are absolutely right, it's pretty lame that it became the ultimate exploit for this event, but it's in Miyagi-Do, learning Karate for defense.....oh wait, wrong forum.
