Nolan Ryan’s 169th pitch was a 102mph fastball

Fix outlier, lol.

That's more of a problem with the stamina not draining properly with pinpoint, but yes, that's still ridiculous lol
-
Psh, I do that in my sleep.

Dude was a hoss, what can you say?

Believe it or not Nolan Ryan is believed to have thrown 200 pitches in a start on several different occasions and that dude magically avoided the DL for his entire 27 year career. There is a school of thought that believes that baseball is actually hindering development of young starting pitchers by putting pitch limits on them. Obviously not everyone is Nolan Ryan and people who are prone to injuries because of bad mechanics or just bad DNA will have injury problems no matter what program you put them on.

I remember pitching in college and high school and in between games we would push our arms in buckets of rice to strengthen your arm and shoulder. I think if your mechanics are good and you’re aren’t trying to overthrow you will avoid injuries more. That’s not proven science but just my opinion. I see some kids people who throw so aggressively they look almost unstable on the mound. With Ryan he had great mechanics. High leg helped him get some velocity from his body and so much from his arm. Some guys were just meant to do it and do it really well. Ryan was born to do it. One of the best ever.

Great post. Adding on to this, it was usually detrimental and/or frowned upon to throw across your body as a pitcher. Your plant foot as a pitcher was in line with home, or toward your non throwing side. Now, it seems like many pitchers throw across their body to help facilitate movement, but it's also harder on their arm and shoulder as it works against them. I believe it's a factor in more frequent pitching injuries today.
