Daily player debate: Top 3 Bosses, Bottom 3
-
I'll name a player or two every day (or few days if there's actually a good discussion going on) and you rate them or compare them however you see fit.
Day 1: Al Kaline - great or not great?
Day 2: Best 99 Brewers Starter : Brandon Woodruff (Finest), Corbin Burnes (Finest), Freddy Peralta (ASG)
Day 3: Who is the better center fielder? Griffey, Mays, Mantle or Trout? Or someone else?
Day 4: Top 3 Catchers
Day 5: assuming you have every card, who would you rank as the best lefties in the pen. Obviously Wagner, Miller and Chapmen are up there, who else?
Day 6- Who are you favorite 3 bosses and why? Also, if you have a bottom 3, feel free to share. Obviously the first few innings had lower OVR ratings but at that point in the game cycle, some of them were really popular like Valenzuela and Lofton.

To me, Al Kaline is an interesting one, because I never see or hear about him in threads or other people's lineups.
Outfield is obviously quite crowded and he's certainly not everyone's first choice in RF. But his near perfect diamond defense and arm are a huge plus, his contact and power against LHP and power against RHP are all 110+and while he's no speed demon, he's not a liability on the base paths at 60+ speed.
He's my starting RF for my NL Central team and has been a doubles machine, especially to right/center.
-
He's mid.
-
One of the many guys who I absolutely rake with in moments/conquest....but just never would consider putting in my lineup. Sorry Al
-
I think he's more base...
-
I raked with Kaline in 19, but never really used him since. I've thought about buying him, but I haven't even tried Trout yet, just started using Harper etc, so maybe sometime in 22 I will again

Yeah, he wouldn't make my squad if I was only running 1 or 2 lineups for sure, or playing online, But for TA5 I had 6 lineups (1 for each division), so I put him in right and he mashed in conquest like you said. Not sure how that would translate against real people haha.

Exactly, and unfortunately he doesnt bring anything spectacular to the table besides defense....but defense only does so much with 60 speed.

I thought of him because he made 2 amazing catches and when I looked at his attributes I was Impressed. But when you've got Griffey, Mantle, Mookie, Mays, Hank, Yelich, Eric Davis, O'Neil, Gwynn, Rickey, Acuna, Marte, Marte and so many others with speed, it makes it hard.

Oh you can go on for days the outfielders who would be a better play than him in the outfield. Nothing against Kaline either, it's just that deep

New topic: which Brewers Ace is your favorite and why? Woodruff, Burnes or Peralta?
So far, I'm liking Woodruff Finest a lot. Quick windup and delivery, 117 H/9, great velocity and 3 active quirks assuming I finally understand what active quirks are hahaha.
Peralta was a staple for a while with another whip crack delivery and high H/9 and K/9 attributes. I have yet to debut Burnes but I'm hoping he leads the pack.
You?

For me, it’s Burnes by a landslide. I like your spirit!

I’m sure Kaline is a stud. I could’ve taken him in the previous event but I took Markakis instead cuz I like to run an Orioles team and I already have 4 million stubs. I’m not one to stick with the same players. I like to use lots of different cards.

Hahahaha, I'm sure I'll like Burnes the best too. His delivery was great in his Monthly and he's got all the good stuff, sinker/cutter, solid H per 9 stats and the dreaded Outlier along with 3 active quirks. I'm waiting to finish TA5 before I bust out the program Finest, I wanted to drag out the program since it's the last but I'm a day or 2 from finishing. So Burnes is first in line after that.
-
Burnes is the hardest to hit out of those three imo. When I've faced Woodruff and Peralta I've hit them pretty well, they don't seem very difficult to read. Burnes has the best pitch mix and his stuff is nasty.
-
My only gripe against Burnes as a Mainly Offline Player...No 4-Seam Fastball. Just personal preference, I can't stand pitchers that don't have a straight up 4-seamer. I use classic pitching so I already have to deal with pitches not going exactly where I want them too. Not having a fastball just makes games take longer. That being said...he is nasty.

Update: who is your favorite CF: Griffey, Mays, Mantle or Trout?
Or someone else entirely?
-
Duke Snider than Mantle
I play Duke in LF, Mantle in CF and Griffey in RF
-
This year it's Bryan Reynolds, though I haven't gotten Trout yet
-
1A Griffey Jr
1B TroutMays/Mantle nowhere near them. (only due to swing/stance issues)
