Doesn’t explain how end game cards like JV, Wagner or Chapman crash too. Nothing we get in Finest will be better than those cards and those cards are rare and not owned by lemmings who would sell for pennies on the dollar for a pack of cards. I have an advanced degree in business from arguably the top program in the world and so no one can convince me this wasn’t manipulated.
Newer cards that are also endgame at cheaper prices= jv, chapman, wagner to all drop in price, also those cards are easier the obtain then in the past due to the RS program and BR Program. Your business degree must have not been that advanced if you cant understand simple things like that.
Ok tough guy. I’ll refrain from engaging with a child but let’s just agree to disagree. I could teach a course on this though…
I'm 24 and work at a high school, Its simple basic knowledge to realize that when new things come out people sell off the old to buy the new. Its not that complicated to understand Professor.
And I get that but let’s approach this from a different lens. Does SDS have a vested interest in manipulating the market to create engagement with their community and have they shown a deliberate interest this year in making all cards more accessible? Markets at times behave irrationally and crashes are fueled by fear and underselling. Get all that and your answer may be right but I also come back to the questions posed and those lead me down a different path. If some of the elite cards weren’t effected I might think differently but rare cards that should have largely been not available and locked into collections crashed too.

The last part is what I do not understand as well, I think it has to do with more players and first time players IE XBOX. It did not just effect player cards but it effected equipment, Unlockables, Stadiums, unifroms and who knows what else. Every type of care I have flip though out the year was affected by this crash. I believe it has to do with people not selling duplicate cause they did not want to put there time going though there inventory to sell them. Now with the Finest cards out people need stubs to get the finest cards IMO. I am just trying to think why it affected almost every type of card in the game.

First, less people than you think will go for the collection. Second, once everyone saw how juiced the finest are, they dumped other cards. Third, as is typical in market crashes, selling begets more selling.
Remember, these cards have no “intrinsic value” that creates any sort of floor and supply is way higher this year
Yeah, Paul Sewald is a huge upgrade over Sig Chapman...
No but guys like Aaron loupwho is a lefty out of the pen selling at 7k with 124 h/9 is a huge value card, It allows you sell chapman if need be to get more cards to collect.
Chapman et al also only has value to highly competitive ranked players. There are tons of people who play the game entirely offline, or just events/br online. I think a lot of people just don’t understand the make up of participants in the market.

I will disagree to an extent here, my friend...I have every card, as do you, but I don't really have any of the rare cards locked in as I always lock in the lower level ones first.....Plus, watch some of the top streamer guys, they sell off rare cards they don't like to get stubs to try new guys coming out......There are only so many people who get every card and hold onto them, so selling these high value cards when new packs drop isn't a surprise and I don't think conspiracy theory.....(I would think SDS would want them to keep their value leading up to the collection drops which always is accompanied by a stub sale)

Everyone that prepared for the collection in advance got destroyed on this. The random dude that can barely get to a million stubs was able to get some players they typically couldn’t afford.
Investors and people that play the market and not the game got absolutely destroyed.
Really the only quote that matters in this whole thread. So true. I bought Kluber at the beginning of the tank for like 325K. That hurts. But it's all good. I've got what I need for the big one. I think.
I got hurt pretty bad also, but I figure if I’m locking the cards anyways who cares. I have more players then I can use anyways.
Mainly I’m looking for extreme pull hitters with 90 plus fielding, reaction, and arm along with 99 speed at this point.

Really just investors, I play the market quite a bit, but I never carry excess inventory, I get stuff that sells fast. Even with cheaper prices the margins are still there so it's status quo for me.
Though I won't be flipping anymore with the new collection coming out as I won't have a reason to the rest of the year

I went on a huge spending a week before the crash if I would have waited I could have got double the cards and would put me closer to have all the legends and flashbacks so yeah that hurt. it is ok I got what I wanted just sucks the market crashed this bad,

It hurt what I was flipping, I believe it is because people were not selling there duplicates and now they are so I just have to wait that out and then the cards I was flipping will go back up. There was an unlockable diamond that I was buying for 23k and selling for over 70k and now that diamond is selling less than 2k.

Ah, I mainly have been flipping flashbacks and legends because everyone is preparing for the collection, so that's where I felt the most $ was.

I been flipping Unlockables faithfully the last 5 month that is how i am getting close of having all legends and flashbacks. The Diamonds have been great and some of the golds move super fast especially the week before the crash. It has now slowed down on the size of profit.

I made 1 million is stubs in one day flipping certain unlockables either Sat or Sun before the Market crash. It was a thing of beauty.

Nice! I've never really ventured into that part of the market or made that in a day, but I made about 250k-400k an hour this past couple weeks when I did flip. How much time would you say you spent flipping?

I totally love how much intrigue and debate this has sparked. I also have been buying cards at a steady rate long before the crash and could have saved a few million had I known this was coming. However, as soon as the market did crash. I started flipping milestones like Kemp, Yelich and Hamels and made a killing.
Won't get into an economics debate as I was an english and theatre major and I see no sonnets present. I could see the possibility of market manipulation but I also am not at all surprised if it's just a case of people dumping all dupes to get their hands on the new Finest. I imagine the market will stabilize by Sunday but again....I really don't know.
How's that for a lack opinion hahaha. P

Yep, that's where I was making my killing, Yelich especially moved fast. Unfortunately with how crashes work, no one knows ahead of time or the crash would happen earlier as everyone would have sold off fearing a crash. Economies are fickle things

Me too, bought Hersh and Kluber as soon as they dipped below 500k. Took a major bath. But I also made a ton taking advantage of the chaos with fliiping three MS cards. If you can't beat the frenzy, join it I guess.
Edit: @eatyum_PSN , Yelich was definitely flying. So was Hamels. And just for fun I've been flipping LS Trout. You're right, I figured things would dip with the coming TA5 and collection but not like this.

I get that some people were low on stubs so they sold a couple cards to get 150k to open 5 packs and get 25k worth of players BUT why are costs down across the board?
Did EVERYONE say, I need to sell all my old inning bosses and RS/BR rewards at the same time? Enough to drop prices 50% across the board?
Or were the prices brought down artificially so the average person could complete the set coming out today
Also a subs sale today....would you buy stubs $100 stubs in November so you could afford 5 of those packs. Would you buy $300+ worth of stubs to buy Nolan Ryan at his price last week?
Something smells fishy and my girlfriend already went to work so it's not her.
There is nothing fishy going on here. You're forgetting about the fact that it takes two to tango. Yes, there are are people selling cards for stubs due to new Finest cards. There are also people cancelling their buy orders which causes prices to drop even further. If I was investing or trying to buy a card for a collection and I start to see prices dropping, I'm going to cancel all of my orders so I can ride it out.
This usually ends up snowballing as prices drop further and more people get nervous and cancel orders to see what the market is going to do. They are also more likely to reinvest those stubs they were going to spend on one expensive card towards a bunch of cheap Finest cards in hopes of them going up when the collection goes live. Low risk, high reward investment. The stub sale will cause prices to go back up a bit.
Its nothing new. The same thing happens throughout the year every year.
