NBA2k20 gives you a 15 min ban - then an hour

This is getting ridiculous with all the people quitting when the opponent hits a homerun and it doesn’t count. Usually I don’t mind because you still get points but when this has happened more than I can remember, I start to get annoyed with how easy this game makes it for [censored] players to just quit their way through the game.

    That's hilarious.

Since when does winning get annoying? You still get same results on wins whether you grind out 9 innings or more or if the opponent prematurely quits, which I have done plenty of times myself.

Hmm, would I rather grind out 9 innings for a win that takes usually 30-45 minutes (god forbid it goes into extra innings), or take a win from someone quitting in 5 minutes or less? People who quit against me never gets annoying and is always welcome 🙂

Some would say that what’s important is up to each individual. For some it’s the journey, for some it’s the result.

I doubt it would help any but you could always go to game history and report their connection issues

That actually makes sense, and I’ve done it before. Not often, maybe 4-5 in over 1000 games played, but it forces you to cool off, instead of doubling down on the rage, which we all know leads to even more losing as you hack at every pitch. It’s tough to force yourself to step back for a few minutes, breathe and then try again.

I played 14 innings the other night the score was 0-0 when I finally connected and walked it off.It took over an hr so yeah I'll take a quit any day vs a disconnect on a HR.I get both sides of the coin though. If the CPU can track stats then it should know the hitter hit a HR then it should track that HR even with an instant quit during said play..

The problem with that is the servers drop people too often for no explainable reason.

I'm not a programmer so maybe this isn't as easy as I imagine it top be, but why not just make the home run count when an opponent disconnects? The game knows it is a home run the second the ball comes off the bat. You can tell based on how fielders and runners react. Even if it isn't a no doubt shot, runners with less than 2 outs will still run because the game knows the ball can't be caught. Therefore, the game knows it is a home run BEFORE the disconnect.

You may not be able to stop an opponent from disconnecting since it is done outside of the game, but I don't understand why SDS can't figure out a way to have to stat count if it is on a home run. Clearly if it is on a game winning double or something in the bottom of the 9th and the opponent rage quits, the game can't predict the outcome. A home run though seems like a no brainer. Especially if you're going to make stats relevant again after they didn't really matter in 19.

Last year I never understood all the whining about this topic. Who gives a [censored], the virtual stats are meaningless.

This year I can understand the gripe a little bit as there are stat missions for some players.

Still, I will take an early quit if I can get one and move on.

It's greifing no matter how you look at it.

Taking the win is easy. Stopping the opponent from collecting stats for prestige etc that require online accumulation? That's greifing.

Or SDS could have seen this coming and allowed you to accumulate stats offline and not strictly tie prestige stats to online play....but wait then we would have the same situation we did with immortal's, a bunch of people complaining about having to play vs cpu to accumulate their stats...can't have it both ways
