i thought they just made the PCI more sensitive in the last update, or reactive....its kinda shitty cause i went from getting better to starting over. way to change at the end of the year.
I don’t think it’s exactly like that. They extended the PCI range which I think means the same movement you did before actually goes a little further. They didn’t make the PCI more sensitive per say but by changing it’s range, it kinda did it on its own

It said in the notes that sensitivity was boosted. And it’s pretty noticeable. A few content creators have made videos about it

Yeah and I stand by my statement. The sensitivity was boosted to compensate for the PCI extending further. Meaning the same movement you did before will reach further because it has farther to travel

No bro it stated specifically that pci sensitivity was changed. It moves quicker than pre update. Go look at the notes and tulowrys video about it

I truly think the pci system needs an overhaul. Wayyyy too many games decided by non pci hits/homeruns and that just shouldn't happen. The pci absolutely needs to represent the barrel and there shouldn't be a outer pci for vision either. Playing good players on HOF is still a foul ball fest and it just gets real frustrating with the undeserved hits
My 2 cents may not count for much, especially since this is really only my second full year playing DD but, personally I find PCI to be bush league. Prior to this week I'd been playing last year and this year on broadcast view with pure analog for hitting and pitching with no visible strike zone. I enjoyed that option as it gave me the feel of watching an MLB game on TV. However after feeling my frustrations mount with each borderline pitch my opponent seemed to know wasn't worth swinging at and getting hammered in the respective games I decided to check out a couple of Twitch streamers to confirm that my adversaries weren't cheating but had more than likely been using PCI.
Maybe I'm just a grumpy old man but PCI leaves me with the impression that you can hit just about any and every pitch thrown at you which IMO doesn't offer me the sim experience I like, nevermind a truly competitive game between me and my opponent but in order for me to be remotely close to competitive my view for hitting is now set for Strike Zone 2, but I'm still not using PCI.

Let me ask you this since you want a sim experience. If you go out IRL, do you just swing blindly at the ball or do you track it and adjust your swing plane according to where the ball is? That’s what the PCI means to most everybody

I completely get this and agree. I use PCI though because there just isn't a other good option. PCI for me is not anything like swinging a bat. I am sure it is just me personally, but using one hand to line up the PCI and another to swing is not anything similar to hitting. To me it is more like the old game where you try and rub your stomach while you tap your head.

About K's and foul balls, I'd be fine with fewer fouls if they banned the outlier perk. THAT is the real thing that's ruining the game.
I think outlier is fine, as long as they don't give it to any random players. Degrom deserves it, but why would they give it to Justin Verlander.
Didn't watch Verlander when he was with Detroit huh? No, he didn't throw 102 every pitch. With how it currently works works the only 3 pitchers that actually deserve outlier are Degrom, Nolan Ryan, and Chapman. But saying they randomly gave it to Verlander of all people is a bit strange
Based on your argument Nolan Ryan doesn’t deserve outlier either. Ryan occasionally eclipsed 100 but was not consistently throwing that hard. What about Jordan Hicks. Dude still holds the record for the hardest pitch recorded I believe it was like 104.8 mph. Also how they measured speeds during Ryan’s time and nowadays was different. Back in the early days it was speed crossing the plate not out of the hand. So there are some old timers that might have been shortchanged on their velocities due to the technology that has evolved over the years. These perks are a joke in my opinion and should just be scrapped anyways.

Outlier could still be used but in a proper manner. If you keep pumping out 102, your stamina should take a massive hit as well. As it stands now, pitchers in this game throw 150 pitches, with maybe 50 of them being outlier and energy is still in the green. It makes absolutely no sense
I have 8 bullpen guys and I use maybe 4 of them

its really ticking me off, like the same movement down, which would take me to the bottom of the zone takes me all the way out of the Zone. its like they said, well we'll fix one issue, but how can we mess up something else.

The point of the pci patch was to make it more challenging. Meaning that you would have to learn to make finer adjustments to your pci movement while gaining more area to maneuver in. So now you can’t just slam the pci down and rely on the corners of the strike zone to stop your pci. If your good enough to make it to the mid 700’s where you see the difficulty increased from AS to HOF than you should be good enough to adjust to the new pci parameters. If not than we will see back in the AS ranks again.

I think the problem is with how hitting works in this game. Outlier probably had to be invented to accommodate pitchers (like most of the ones mentioned) that threw harder than the game was designed to allow.
They had to do something to make fastballs actually relevant in a baseball game because, if you remember, there was a time when they were not.
I keep hoping SDS will remember this is a video game and not real life, and make it about fun gameplay and not semi-accurate to MLB stats, but I might be waiting a long time for that.
Not everyone wants an arcade "video game" like you want. I want this game to be even more realistic as do many others.
I get that, and I am not looking for an arcade game either, but I’m pretty sure they did not sit down at the design brief meeting and say, “How can we make the most frustrating sports game possible?”
At the end of the day, the game needs to play well and be enjoyable, otherwise there is zero point.
