Yes my opponents love when I bring him in because he loves blowing the lead.

No idea why but the same happened last year too. He’d strike out a ton, but somehow always gives up a bomb in close games for me.

Somehow I haven’t given up a single run with Jansen in like 15+ innings though.

I think because everyone tries to blow it by you, I find success pitching backwards with Goose and starting with low change ups and slurves and then going to the heat

I haven't really used him h2h yet but bought him for around 250k feels like less than 2 weeks ago and now his price is sky high. Tempted to sell but don't really need the stubs.

I think he's best used after you pull a lighter tossing SP. If you're putting in Goose after Degrom, Feller, Ryan, Verlander....people already have the 102mph heat somewhat timed.

IE: Put in Goose after you pull Felix, Maddux, Arrieta, etc. (Or after a softer thrower out of the pen). His fastball will be harder to time for the 1-2 innings you use him.

This is the way. 99 Goose has been solid for me.

This. It’s also how you pitch with Chapman

So far my most successful reliever has been Goose. Mariano is who I seem to be horrible with. I haven't used him in over a month because I was constantly getting shelled using him. Jansen I seem to do pretty well with which is weird considering they have such a similar pitch mix but man it got to the point anytime I used Mo I couldn't even get out of the inning with him. I'm sure it's all about how I was using him since others seem pitch very well with him.

So to piggy back on others, I think with both Mo and Goose is similar in that people are looking for Cutter / 102. Don’t give it to them. I rarely throw the cutter early on with Mo as instead it’s Sinker, Change, Slider primarily. I have been way more successful pitching this way with Mo and then breaking out the Cutter opportunistically. He locates really well and has a nice 5 pitch mix.

everyone throws cutter first with MO and then the second pitch is always the sinker.

    so predictable

So... I shouldn't be doing that? Hmmm.

    I do stink with Mo.

Goose has been my favorite reliever for a long time...loved the 95 and the same with the 99. Jansen has been pretty good too. I think all the suggestions on Goose are solid...working backwards or even just mixing things up. He has four pitches that are effective and if you are not popping the four seam all the time, it becomes much more effective. That outlier fastball is also more effective when it isn't following another outlier guy...at least use Goose different than you did the guy before him if he is following one of those guys.

As for Mo...goodness gracious I can't use that card. I have tried everything...backwards, forwards, upside down! I have tried pitching like Mo and just feeding cutters and I have tried never throwing the cutter or the sinker. No matter what I do with him, I seem to get shelled. I got to the point where I wouldn't touch him and then this event came along. I decided to give it another try and I used him three times and just got lit up...now I'm using guys like McGee and Betances instead of Mo, because I can get outs with them.

Ohtani is the same way for me. He has like 11 K/9 and a sub 1 WHIP, but has like a 6 ERA for me. Seems like everything is crushed against him.

I have like a 2 something ERA with DeGrom, Cliff Lee, Felix and Leiter. I just replaced him with Kershaw.

I like using goose/chapman after I start a “softer throwing guy” and Jansen/Rivera after the smoke throwers…eck is good for about a inning sometimes after throwing 102 guys..

I think the working backwards is huge, start slider snd change and see where their swing timing is

99 Goose is a [censored]. The 95 Yankees collection Goose is a monster. He's been my closer all year despite having every top reliever in the game.

I mean, 99 Gossage is literally the same card as the 95 but just better in every way plus outlier. Sounds like you used the 99 a couple times against really good opponents, got lit up like any other pitcher would, and just decided the 95 is better for no real reason.
