I wish they could somehow implement that you can't use the same cards as your opponent so you can make back up choices the computer will decide at random. I hate when both teams use the same pitcher ect
It’s not so much that I hate facing the same players that are in my lineup, it’s that there is almost no variety in lineups after 700 rating, and absolutely no variety on a pitching staff, I can literally guess with about 65% accuracy what pitcher in facing before the opponents lineup is shown

Maybe having a draft like in br but with the cards you own? You have a choice of 4 of your randomly picked cards. The ones you don't pick are not available. You take that team into a season or something with interesting rewards?

Yes, this is why I don't love the God Squad. I know we all have our opinions on who the best players are and yet, it seems like we always have similar squads mainly because any avid player is going to collect all the great cards. But now there are so many choices. It would be cool if there was a quick draft. You can take anyone from your collection but if your opponent takes that player you need to grab someone else. You'll both still end up with amazing teams. You take Wander? Cool, I'll take Honus Wagner etc.

All of these ideas are good. Ranked needs a major overhaul for 22.

What you are describing is basically the exact thing as events. they are testing it with the BR and RS "programs" to win a certain amount of games to win XYZ prizes. By doing this, they have essentially made every online mode a different variation of events.
I think they are testing out what the community is playing and collecting alot of data on it. I think they are going to make significant changes to online play structure for next year because people seem to be getting bored of the current structure

It wouldn’t be events. Players wouldn’t be limited on what series of cards they can use, the games would be 9 innings and the ranked structure would stay the same. It would simply bring more strategy to lineup structure, roster construction, and in game management. In my opinion it would make ranked much closer to a baseball simulation, which is what sds advertises they produce

I am agreeing with you. Yes, RS will not become branded as "events" but they are already tinkering with the way the seasons are played out. Making a 30 win cumulative goal as an option to achieve RS rewards is already a drastic change from previous RS structure. I think this is just the beginning and they are doing this to collect data on how many people are willing to grind cumulative wins (events) vs playing the traditional RS format

They tried this in 2k one year. Last 2k I ever played. While this always sounds like a good idea on paper, there are going to be far more people against it than for it. And no, you can't just make another mode. It would split the playerbase too much
-
That’s why we have BR. If anything just ask for 9 inning BR mode.

Ranked is fine just the way it is. It's the only on-line mode that lets you put together the team you've spent so much time building. Don't like it, go play events.

I’m not asking for ranked to be filled with silver and gold players, we have plenty of low and high diamonds to make teams with that would meet the requirements

This won't work because SDS wants us to grind our butts off for the best cards and some people have to spend money for stubs. If you can get by in ranked Seasons by using mediocre cards with a couple great cards then people will just keep their few great cards and not grind and spend money for the Ultimate Rewards. I like ranked Seasons the way it is. I put time into building my squad I would hate to not be able to use them the way I want. I believe Battle Royale and events are what those modes are for. Or you can always do Friendly's like someone stated.

Like five years ago they added position restriction to do what you are discussing. You used to be able to do whatever you wanted.

It doesn’t have to be silvers and golds, they could adjust it to low diamonds, mid diamonds and 99s. MAYBE a couple of golds to have some weakness.

Doesn't matter one bit as long as they ignore fixing the SP stamina glitch.
-
id love for a separate salary capped version of ranked seasons like this. i wouldnt replace the current ranked seasons though, just add a separate game mode

Boom, Roasted!

100% agree with you. I have said it before and I got roasted as well. I would love a mode that is not BR and not Events, but that a player had access to their entire collection. They just had limitations on how the team was built...and not something like average 90 or 95. Something like position players are limited to four cards 96+, four cards 90-95 and the remainder can be anything sub 90. Then similar for pitching...one 96+ starter, two 90-95 and the other two sub 90. Then similar for the bullpen.
I would enjoy this because my team would be more fun to create, you would see very different teams every time you played someone and the teams would more mimic a baseball team. However, I was roasted and I see that at least on this forum the masses just want to load up 99's and roll. I also know that SDS would not favor things like this because it would not promote stub spending. The current system leads everyone to want bigger and better and this leads to stubs flying for new 99's each and every day. And just like @Mereel13_PSN said, I would favor this as a salary capped mode or something...not a replacement for the current RS. I don't blame people for wanting to go straight 99s....I just like the strategy involved in something different.

My friend and I were talking about the idea of roster limitations in RS today. I’d like to hear some more opinions on it but we both agreed it would be fun and interesting. I’m not talking about the way they do events with only switch hitters or only a certain series but an overall cap on the team rating. I think it would make utilizing the bench much more important than it is at this point and add lots of variety to RS
I see where you're going with your post and I've thought the same from time to time. I wonder if we could have a few options:
- No roster cap at all and game continues as is now with god squad vs god squad, etc.
- You have certain "spots" you have to fill. For example the following:
a. must use 2 rookie cards in starting squad
b. must use 2 veteran cards in starting squad
c. bullpen, only a closer card could be plugged into a closer role. So, you'd have to decide if you want 99 Mariano Rivera as your closer or 99 Goose, etc. - you have the option when starting a RS game to either go god squad or a roster limitation vs roster limitation and it would match you up accordingly to what your opponent chooses
- and, of course a DH vs DH option
Those are my thoughts. Interesting post, thanks for allowing me to partake.

Fixing stamina will help more than anything else imho.
Other than that where I get where you are coming from by making a cap...what will end up happening is everyone will find out the best endgame capped squad and you will still see the same players on every team. I would like to see more of a cap on the type of cards you can use. So maybe 2 awards cards, 2 milestone cards, 2 prime, and so on. That way you really have to pick and choose your team.
