I have thought about to doing this so many times....

Getting up to mid 600's, lose a bunch of games on purpose to go back down, then win a bunch then lose, rinse and repeat.

I feel like the most fun I have in RS is when I am at or below 650. But I kinda care too much about my win loss record.

How do ya'll get to that 30 or 40 win mark without doing this?

Number one I don’t really play ranked, so that decision is your choice. Basically your saying you don’t want to play HOF which many people do. Just remember your record doesn’t mean a [censored] thing because there is zero rewards from being the best or worst player in the game

I've seen others post about this but honestly

    1. Your ruoning it for guys that are actually at the lower ranks because you are clearly better than them.
    2. Shouldn't talk about tanking in the forums because I'm fairly certain it's against TOS and you might get yourself in trouble.

I never try to lose on purpose. If my opponent is squaring up every pitch and I'm down 8-0 after 3 innings, I might quit. I'm also not running out a God-squad every game. If you play me, you'll face Leiter, Jenkins... anyone I feel like throwing out there. If SDS has missions, I'll run out teams to complete those. My current team is entirely 1B/3B to complete the "Corners" mission. I won't make WS, but I will get my 30 wins. And, I'll stay comfortably in the 500-700 range. Win/win/win.

Alot of people do it, even/especially world series guys. Once I reach the mid 600s I start getting guys quit as soon as the game loads. Those guys will tank to get their 30 wins playing lesser competition, then they will make a push back up to worldseries so they get a second ws pack once all the tryhards are already in the 900s. So it's a win win for them and they never have to play even other player at their level.

They are scum but it's not their fault. Clearly sds didn't think about this obvious tactic when they added the 30/40 win path.

Also with every pitcher having outlier now and the lag being so inconsistent who wants to sit there and play a bunch of 2-1 9 inning ranked games on hall of fame. I blame sds for all the goofiness going on with ranked. They made pitching way to easy and hitting way to hard.

    Just my opinion here, but....

    1. A player ruining it by tanking it to play a non CS/WS player is the same as a CS/WS player ruining it for WC/DS players that they are clearly better than. One is tanking on purpose and one isn't, but the matchup mismatches hold true across the game. I think a smarter way for SDS to handle match-ups is that once you make a level you only play people at the same level until you reach the next level and so on.

    2. I do not see how tanking on purpose would get you banned. People quit games all of the time for various reason. Not sure how SDS would or should police that.

The matchup's in game boggle my mind at times. I know that when playing event the ranked season W/L records of players are insane. 25-3, 60-8 and so on. I never see anyone 8-60 or 3-25. I know that there are really good players out there and I am only 24-12 in ranked (3 early disconnect losses early in the game cycle), but with all of the things that go wrong at times late in close games it is impossible for me to understand how people can be that effective online.

My record is like 50-11 or something but it's because I don't play alot of ranked so when I do occasionally play a ranked game it's in the 500-700s.

I never try to make world series because I don't like playing in hall of fame. Also I usually just buy the rewards I want so there no reason to waste my time trying to get 40 wins

So this being like the 6th season a player could be 30-0 and never play a single game above 550. Just play 5 low ranked games each season

I'm also convinced your first 10 games are against bots

legend last season was playable...i went 3-1...but i pretty much avoided playing ranked season after getting WS, that's why i only played the 4 games
before that season once i hit WS i would lose on purpose to get back to HOF....

    Hard no on this one.

Play the game if you are getting throttled 8-0, 9-1 then quit but quitting out just to get lower is toxic.

How do ya'll get to that 30 or 40 win mark without doing this?

Every season until I get to around 25-30 wins. Then I make run to WS.

Monday night I dropped down to 430. Fix the game where I don't see 110 mph wiffle balls and I'll be more than happy to start at 700. I usually only run my best players from like 750 to 900+ for the initial WS run. Once I make WS I tank back into 7-800's and play with different cards.

I don't care about my record, I care about having fun. Not being able to read or react to pitches because of the lag isn't fun. Coincidentally (cough, cough), the higher you go the worse it is.I think it is a product of me being 8-9+ hours from the alleged server locations and opponents being very close. I just don't think there are very many people in my area that are highly ranked.

This has zero relevance on getting better at the game. I love to compete but until SDS figures out the connection/server issues plaguing this game that is nothing more than a pipe dream for me. I gave up 3 non-pci HR's just in my last game. Meanwhile, good/good is just a lineout. I'll just play for fun until then. Going to be a while.

Sure it does if you're playing down at All-Star a bunch against a bunch of newer players. You will never get better at the game by beating up on them. It's likepitching Rebel playing against you every game, it's not fair to you and he will never get better playing you.

Do you seriously do this before playing online? Honestly, I've never understood the idea of practicing vs CPU to play online. The game feels different offline vs online and I feel like I play astronomically worse playing the CPU in any mode/difficulty and then jumping online. I may just be odd though.
