Does anyone use 96 Griffey Jr?
-
I played with him on BR, it was nice because the 42 series version of him was mad dissapointing. Griffey was arguably one of the best players of the modern generation. He definitely needs a card that showcases how good he really was. In the 90's he was basically like the MJ of the MLB. One of the smoothest swings I've ever seen and had web gems daily in center. He needs better representation in this game.

I haven't used him in ranked, but he's been my best hitter in every event he has been eligible for. Plenty of multi homerun games. Lefty/righty doesn't matter. Can't wait for the 99.

being a Mariners fan i did for a bit but he's just been phased out by other guys

I use him a lot in my endgame outfield. I think people get too hung up on 99s overall. Once you get him up to p5 he is 90/115 against righties and his defense is absolutely elite. Even in past years with his 99 i would sometimes platoon him with an elite rh bat so im not worried about his splits vs lefties. He always has a great swing so for me there is no reason to wait on a 99.

Obviously he's not really worthy at this point as a starting OF for most people, but I just picked him up as a lefty bench bat. He seems like he's an all around good bench player. Has good speed, great defense and a good swing that can hit righties well. Seems like a good tool to have if you need a late game D sub or pinch runner. Obviously there are some better options but honestly not many lefty 5 tool guys.
he's really one of my best hitters in RS right now - keep in mind i am AS hovering 600-700s max - his swing is butter and he plays great fielding at CF - i have finley in RF, and soriano in LF

Yeah I mean as a bench player I would rarely if ever have him hit against a lefty. Honestly he'd be my second bench option for hitting behind Ortiz. But having that speed and defense off the bench, to go with that sweet lefty swing is clutch imo.

As a life ling baseball player and somewhat competive Ive always admired Griffeys swing, He has no hiccups in his swing. Just quick, smooth and powerful. Lefties always have prettier swings anyway IMO but Griffeys swing is legendary.

Worth using- definitely
worth it(comparing to other OFs)- definitely not. -

I use him and will until the 99 version comes out. He is great on defense I'm not sure if there is a center fielder who has better attributes defensively on offense his attribute numbers may not be as high as some of the cards out currently but his swing is amazing and he crushes the ball. I am not the greatest hitter but not terrible either I've used almost all the cards released so far and he is solid and as good as most other than a select few in the highest tier. Right now my outfield is Trout in LF, Griffey in CF, Harper in RF I get Acuna in a lot and still love Finley.

There is only room for one leftie CF GOAT
and that is my beautiful parallel 5 Cedric Mullins
My only player who is hitting over .300
