The subject of this post/thread is muddled a bit, perhaps. Anyway, what I mean to say is that tonight something happened to me/my character in RTTS that I haven't ever seen happen in any version of this game, which I've been playing for at least eight years now.

My character is an 18-year-old knuckleballer with an overall rating of 62, up from 61 at the time that he was promoted to MLB straight from Double-A. In other words, for the first time ever (for me), the team which signed my character brought him up way, way too early. I think that I might actually get sent down to Double-A or Triple-A given that my kiddo isn't far enough along yet to have developed any side-to-side movement on the knuckler, with the predictable result being that playing as him I got shelled in my MLB debut, got an insane ND in start #2, and by a series of extremely unlikely events managed to win a 1-0 shutout in start #3.

Note that the call-up is consistent with the MLB roster. The Royals organization signed my pitcher, and the rotations up and down their system are absolute [censored]. So, their virtual GM threw an 18yo kid into the fire in the hope of it being a crucible.

Interestingly, the games I've played so far as this overmatched pitcher have been some of the most enthralling I've played in many years... loving the Hell out of the challenge.

Let us know if you get sent down, it seems to be very rare that it happens so it would be nice to hear that it still does!

In the "old" days (maybe pre-2016), I remember getting called up and sent down quite a bit. Since then, it only has happened to me once. In the 2019 version, I was a LF for KC. I was called up directly from AA to MLB, and struggled mightily. I was sent back down after about 2 months for the remainder of the season. Started the next year in AAA, and was called back up. It's rare, though.

It wasn’t as rare pre 18 when you were able to buy the attribute points with stubs to make your player better way quicker ... I did it because I had the stubs and it was available, though I am glad they removed that from the game

I sort of enjoy the grind myself but there certainly are people who would like to be 99OVR out of the gate, playing only on their favorite team and only the position they choose.
It's the "sim" vs" arcade" debate which I doubt will ever end.

In the end, my guy stayed up in the majors, largely because the rest of the Royals rotation was terrible, I think. Finished the season 6-6, got a spring training invite and simmed through it... to find myself as the team's long reliever. By the end of May, I had over 100 innings of pitching in relief... annoying. Starting again now, in July I think, after a long injury from goofing around.
