I think if EA designed an MLB game today..it would be better than The Show. The got much deeper pocket books.
TBH, I'm surprised they haven't thrown their hat into that particular ring. Would be interesting. Would frighten SDS to death, but competition makes things better..always.

No it isnt. I fire it up from time to time. So much wrong with it. Plus what do you mean silky smooth? So is this game I guess. If you mean runs great. You cannot play MVP online so cannot compare that. That is were the issues start on all games.

Look at it like this, outside of baseball and basketball EA has zero competition when putting out madden or NHL. There games have steadily gotten worse since they lost competition. SDS Honestly has made a good game since 17. Competition makes you better

I don't think it's lack of competition necessarily, it's moreso that ALL they care about nowadays is DD. I'll give them credit for making the mode extremely accessable to no money spent players, but still the overall improvements to actual gameplay and other modes has completely stalled since they introduced DD.

Yes I do.
They are handling F1 2021 now and did a good job, so far to my surprise. They even put in a 'Longshot' type story in this year's game.
MVP '04 & '05 were great. We need comp anyway.That's incorrect,
Codemasters is the developer for F1 2021. EA purchased codemasters and took over the publishing of F1 2021
But they're still a part of it, right?

They could have at almost any time in tge last few years. They didn't want to. They said it wasn't worth the investment to build it up from scratch.

I am one of those old guys who still thinks about a game 16 years old. I do think it is a testament to EA/MVP that a game is still talked about like it is, but it is so old that most people who play The Show, never played MVP. The thing I feel that they had right that nobody has ever duplicated as well were the analog controls. In my memory, they played far beyond any analog control system of a baseball game that has followed. When it came to pitching, hitting and fielding it all just seemed to make sense and flow well based on user input.
This year is the most I have played a baseball game in a long time and definitely it is the most I have enjoyed it...along with many frustrations. LOL When it comes to graphics, details, variety of options, etc. there is no comparison...MLBTS is far beyond anything.

Clearly you have never played Madden. That game is total trash. MUT which is the DD for Madden is terrible. The gameplay was horrible, there were bugs since day 1 that were never fixed, they offer very little free content and there is even more "meta" in online play. This year I am not planning on buying the game for the first time since the very first Madden.

As someone who has played Madden Ultimate Team since Madden 2015, it truly got me back into sports games and I was super excited to see MLB The Show coming to Xbox this year. The complaints I have are very minimal for this game. Sure they could bring MVP baseball back, but would it beat this out? Based off the improvements they've made in ultimate team over the last 6 years I'd say SDS would win..

Let's put it this way...they have a much-much bigger budget. So, yes, it stands to reason they could hire the Crème de la Crème of the development world. Easily out bid any gaming company for MLB rights. Which would lead you to believe they probably could manufacture a better MLB game.
Not saying they would, could, or should. But, SDS has a monopoly on Baseball console games right now. Monopolies stifle innovation and quality..competition has the opposite effect.
