But seriously, I think it's great that some folks (perhaps the younger set) think it's great when they pull a Mike Trout. I think it's great that the community then shows their love with assorted "congrats" type comments. All positive and I would never try to rain on some little kids parade.
But for you adults out here..keep some perspective.

Yeah man, why would anyone be excited about pulling a card they can sell for 200k. It's not about Trout's in-game stats, he's literally the most expensive card you can pull in a pack. I still don't understand why you intentionally ignore that and just BuT ThERe ArE BeTtEr CaRdS
Probably ignore that on purpose because it pokes a hole into your "Why should anyone care" stance. -

Because there's nothing more adult than logging into a site created for the sole purpose of sharing mlb the show gameplay experiences, then calling people childish for doing just that.
I think I'll go find the FIFA message board and ramble on about how inferior it is to some other game that none of them care anything about. I'm sure they'll all praise my maturity, because nothing says "I'm a grown up" quite like trolling a video game message board.

Don't bother with this guy, he thinks everything is some magical code in the game to screw us all. Also he doesn't seem to understand that people do have perspective, they are happy in game about paying Trout for stubs or collection. Noone thinks pulling Trout is getting them a hot date or fixing their life

Actually did get several trout. The dept. of Conservation finally stocked my pond today. A bevy of beautiful rainbow trout. Along with some bluegill, channel cat, and bass.
As far as Mike Trout goes..how does he stack up to the topped-out diamonds that are just handed out as consolation prizes in this game? I've pitched against him several times this year and never gave up a HR. Not even sure he's hit me.
But, if the mention of pulling his card is that meaningful of a marketing pitch I will make sure when I finally do pull him I will share it with the community. Can't wait for that day.

I mean the way some people go on about their online records and making world series this year you would think a date with the kardashians, an increased credit limit and a large raise at work is the reward.
