Lmao just had this happen to me against the all mighty speed demon Padres, effectively costing me the game. Missed the same exact play, then next AB soft grounder to him, ball goes right under his glove, runner goes 1 to 3 and then a contact swing blooper for the lead/win.

I'm guessing that since the question is why "AI" does this, they have it set for AI to do all the fielding and throwing. If not, it's really as simple as you say, don't press the throw button.
