Gallo Diamond, Walsh Not?

Walsh plays a solid RF when needed too. His BA against lefties is about .180 though. Definitely should have gone up 1 to Diamond
Much like Devers should be easy Diamond. On pace for 44 HR and 140 RBI and stuck at 81. Doubles machine who had 201 hits in 2019, so great track record too.

SDS takes away 8 contact v L for Walsh, after he hits 3 HR against lefties in the last 8 days.
And they appropriately bumped his power vs lefties up 10 points
To get a raise in contact we need to know how he did in all his other at bats vs lefties beyond those three HR's.Looking at his stats for the last 14 days, he is batting .229.
Vs lefties for the year he is batting .178Hard to argue that a player deserves an upgrade when they batted more than 50 points below their season avg during the time period in question. He is lucky he got the +10 to power vs lefties. Without that boost he probably gets downgraded.

Gallo is leading the league with bases on balls too by a pretty decent amount

Walsh is getting a TA3 card though.

Yeah but that TA will most likely be a 97+. A far cry from the 85 some of these guys deserve, especially Devers.

Gallo has elite defense which helped him get diamond, can't just compare batting average and home runs
I never knew him to be such a good defender.
That eases my pain of him robbing a HR from me the other day! -

Gallo gets +4 to reach Diamond. Walsh gets +0
Chapman gets -2 and gave up a Grand Slam to Walsh. But Walsh gets +0

Walsh batting average, .282 HR 22
Gallo batting average, .239 HR 23
Just funny how...
You’re looking at batting averages???
What is this, 1990??? -

What is this, 1990???Does contact not relate to batting average? Gallo's contact went up, yet he has a worse average? If those two aren't connected then so be it, but seems quite logical to me.

I’m guessing they’re using xBA for contact more than BA for current players. Haven’t checked how they compare though

I’m not an expert on this subject, so if I’m wrong I’m wrong but I think it has something to do with gallos diamond fielding helps him reach diamond with the boost to his hitting with the fielding taken into account…maybe

Gallo’s contact went up because he’s been on a hot streak, but his contact still isn’t great. You’re also neglecting the fact that Gallo leads the league in walks and Walsh still can’t hit lefties.

Defense most certainly helps in overall ratings. Mookie Betts is a perfect example. Dudes got bronze tier offense attributes. 65/52 contract 69/60 power. 77 vision.
But then add in his 99 fielding, 99 reaction, 96 acc and 85 arm str and he is now an 87.
Gallo is the same way. Defense and Arm are super high which on an overall level helps offset his low contact/vision. Power is always there.

But is Gallo that good a defender in real life?

Yeah, he is a lot better than a lot of people think I imagine. I remember being caught off guard by how high his defensive ratings are but some of the metrics seem to support it.
According to baseball reference, he finished 3rd in AL in dWar (1.1) and has 0.9 dWar this year. Currently has 12 defensive runs saved. I'm not well versed in some of these advanced metrics but he ranks toward the top in a few.
