Good Online Sports Games

To OP, I guess it would depend on your definition of good. Sports games have absolutely stopped evolving and put in far less improvement from title to title, but The Show is still good enough to keep me playing.

I’m no help cause all I play is The Show, Madden, and 2K. MLB is the best by far despite its glitches, Madden is okay but I can never really get into H2H Seasons cause I hate the passing game on online play, and I’ve played about 4 online games on 2K so I don’t really have an opinion on that.

Never apologize..it's a sign of weakness.
Quite the opposite: never apologizing is a sign of weakness.

I think for the casual fan 2K and MLB are great games. It’s just when you play any game excessively you’re going find flaws, be more annoyed by them, and see them more than a casual. I think that’s why generally this forum is toxic. Not to mention burnout (that a lot of people have but don’t want to accept it or put the game away).
Sports games should be an every other year type of buy IMO. I just wish the companies would actually take a year off to really improve for the next release but micro transactions have eliminated the need to do that.

See, there are females on this forum...joking of course.

I have yet to see any of these titles improve online play.
The Show 21 has just as many online issues as The Show 15.
One would think that with time, game quality would follow.
The content improves, graphics are terrific.
But I think we would trade it all in for server stability and a less nerve wracking online experience. -
Also PGA 2k is good

Rocket league is awesome. They rarely put anything new out and is still a blast to play

Might legit be the only one as far as I know.
I play NHL (mostly EASHL), NBA a little bit (dabbled with myteam this year online) and MLB.
NHL is full of glitchy goals, NBA seems to be the same side-to-side BS and shoot random deep 3s but has shooting mechanics that has results as random as MLBs PCI placement (with the except of a Green release always going in regardless).
Haven't played Madden in years. Online never felt right in that game...MUT games were always way to short to accurately represent football imo. First to score wins basically.

I never have. In fact, at their core, they pretty much have the same basic vibe. You sense way to much AI control, and too little of the human element. They all suffer from the same issues.
My theory has always been with all the variables - screens/monitors, gaming platforms, networks, overloaded servers, latency, jitter, etc. it overwhelms any attempt at creating a level playing ground for everyone..so the companies just say F IT, and try to hit a happy medium.
There are those that have great success because they happen to be swimming in that fortunate swim-lane that gets all the bennies. And, unfortunately, those that are encumbered with all the baggage (high latency, jitter, lack of server muscle, etc) and just suffer and bitsh (which they have every right to).
Most are just swimming in the happy medium lane most of the time..hopefully.
Very good players that have to deal with the heavy baggage typically aren't reflected as very good players. Bad players that do get the advantages (distance from server, TRUE high speed, and all the other stuff money can buy) are often reflected as good players. Those in the middle just have to find their way.
I believe the potential is there to get to nirvana, but it's going to take a huge investment in predicative modeling in the client/server architecture to mask the affects of latency. Right now, AFAIK, most companies use a variety of load-balancing techniques to interpret latency and adjust player experience on the fly..I just don't think it always works so well.
But, even if you eliminate all potential hardware/network deficiencies the companies are still going to code DDA in order to keep people engaged and ensure some bit of parity. They have to, otherwise many customers would flee because they would never win or always win. That is not a happy experience either way.

NHL 21 is pretty good online. I just do versus and the games only take like 15/20 min to play.
