PCI Starting Point

I have been struggling lately. I am sitting in Wild Card for RS, and cannot seem to find a good place to start my PCI. I have trouble getting to high pitches and away pitches. Any tips?

Where I try to start is where I think the pitcher is going to throw. Issue is, I'm the 17th worst player in the world and just center it and pull all the way down or all the say up because I'm an old chunk of coal who can't into small precise movements on an analog stick

Man, I feel ya! I used to start my PCI right in the middle and then adjust. I have problems laying off pitches in the dirt (best view i've come across for me has been Offset Zoom). Strike Zone and Strike Zone 2 i just couldn't tell - probably cause i'm old. Late last season I started putting the PCI almost at the pitchers head and then trying to move it as the ball breaks. That has helped some, but I can't hit for $hit in RS. I've scored a combined total of 5 runs maybe in my last 3 games. a 1-0 win, a 3-2 walk-off win on a dinger by rookie chipper, and a 1-0 win last night that went 11 innings if i remember right. RS is almost unplayable and is zero fun right now.
Good luck!I lied the Chipper walk-off was against the CPU on All-star to get Wood. RS is still zero fun and impossible to hit on.

I've been starting my pci inside high/inside middle...If pitches are hard to catch up too believe it or not MLB 15 view makes the pitches seem slower even tho the view may look ugly it worked.., I used that view until I got a monitor this year, now strike zone 2

Thanks, I usually start it inside middle/high as well. I guess it is also adjusting to your opponent.

I really like the customization of the PCI this year. In the past I have played around with turning the PC on and off with mixed success. Now I like to start with a blue PCI at about 70% visibility. This allows me to place the PCI exactly where I want it, usually high and inside depending on the handedness and then I elect to have the PCI fade out before the pitch. Allowing it to fade out of view is huge for me because the PCI no longer obstructs my view of the pitch. This approach has worked wonders for me this year.

FWIW, I'm terrible at hitting, too, and have been for a few years. I'm using Strike Zone and PCI. What I'm really focusing on this year is taking pitches to try and help improve. Work the count. And honestly, it helps a lot. Unless the first pitch of an AB is a meatball down the middle, I'm not swinging. Even if it means I'm down 0-1 in the count. I want to work the count and get to as many 2-2 and 3-2 counts as possible.
I'm also working on not chasing the low and away stuff (low offspeed in the dirt is my achilles), as there's really not much a batter can do with those pitches anyway (rolled over ground balls, strikeouts). Make the pitcher throw more pitches. because the more the pitcher throws, the quicker his energy will deplete. In a nutshell, try to be patient and work the counts. Be less aggressive and wait for your pitch. Probably not anything that you don't already know, but this is the stuff that seems to be working for me this year.
This is exactly how this game is meant to be played. Wait for your pitch. I don’t swing unless it’s down the middle. Same approach I have in real life baseball. Same approach mlb hitters. They hit mistakes. People are so choked about hitting and I have to admit DD just doesn’t feel right right now but it also seems they think they should be able to take a 100 mph fast ball on the corner out of the yard. Just doesn’t happen. Zone up down the middle and tattoo mistake pitches. That being said I don’t leave my pci in the middle. I go 3/4 of the way or at the top of the strike zone. I have a tendency to move the pci down anyways. Also. Really hard to move it up towards a 100 mph heater as a posed to getting it down to a 80 mph change up. Another thing to mention and what makes this game great is how true to life the hitting is. You have to soft focus the pitcher and pick up the reread point. One other thing that helps is to pay attention to what and where your opponent pitches in certain situations. You’d be surprised how much this helps. In short. Zone up over the middle work the count. Until you have to strikes on you. Then battle. This game really comes down to who is the most disciple for at the plate. Force guys to throw strikes. -

But the top part worth reading too

Basically this. If I know how my opponent is pitching me I will place it where I think the pitch is coming. If the pitcher is mixing it up enough I usually start slightly inside and a little up to protect against the inside fastballs and adjust to everything else.

I am currently 18-3 in RS, and just made DS. I start my PCI up in the zone. I struggle getting to high pitches and that is where the best result is. From belt to high. If you start you PCI moving up when the person pitches you will have success!

I usually try to start at the pitchers release point and follow it from there. It doesn’t always work the best especially if you got a tall player batting and have a lot of space to cover or if the pitcher is throwing 102.
But I’ve been having decent success doing that and just sitting on pitches from the middle up until I get 2 strikes then I’ll usually start the pci a little lower than the pitchers release point
