Too many homeruns when it first cane out though. Sure. Change it to more hits but less homeruns. Who agrees
I don’t understand why everyone is complaining. The new patch forces you to zone up and wait for a mistake pitch. Mlb player hit mistake pitches left over the middle out of the yard not painted on th black. I like it so much better now. If they tweak it I hope only a little. Maybe be a little more forgiving allow a few more base hits but was just getting sick of all the homeruns. It’s a baseball sim.
Can anyone explain why online rated plays so well. I play on Allstar with my bro.
Listen unless there’s something screwy going on on the Xbox version. this game is the closest thing to actual baseball you’re ever going to play. I use strike zone 2 hitting view. Any of the strike zone views work great. I’ve played lots on fish eye zoom and strike zone 3 but settled on strike zone 2. I hear the same complaints every year about hitting. Listen. It’s hard to hit. To quote Tom hanks. “The hard is what makes it great “. It’s not the game. You just need to practice. I would recommend playing on veteran to start. I play hall of fame. I’ve only been playing on hall of fame since last years game. Takes time boys. Like I say. Not an easy game. Gotta work the count. Swing at good pitches to hit. Can’t be taking painted pitches on the corner out of the yard all the time. Just doesn’t happen. In the game or real life. If zone hitting on veteran is still too hard after a while switch to analog or directional hitting. I suggest putting your time in and figuring zone hitting out. It’s the most rewarding when you do tag one. Also. Your tv has to b on game mode or there’s a delay. Impossible to play this game like that. Great game. Stick with it. Be frustrated at first. Things will get easier. So fun boys. Trust me.

I think it's the best the show has ever been! I'll probably play 500 rs games this year if it stays like this
Agreed. Since the patch you mean?
@IIJACKINTHBOXII said in Two diff handles same house same system?:
Just sim the games between the two of them
Maybe they can just play offline vs each other and then I can manually enter a winner. Or just sim an reset till I get the right winner. Thanks boys

Facts you can’t even hit the ball right now with out it being right down the pipe
Not true bud. I mean it’s harder but it should be. If a pitcher is hitting his spots he shouldnt be getting raked all over the yard. I felt I was painting before and guys were hitting it out or I was hitting pitches out that shouldn’t be. They need to find a happy medium I guess. But to say it was good before. I don’t get it. I want a sim baseball game. Not whatever that was.

FWIW, I'm terrible at hitting, too, and have been for a few years. I'm using Strike Zone and PCI. What I'm really focusing on this year is taking pitches to try and help improve. Work the count. And honestly, it helps a lot. Unless the first pitch of an AB is a meatball down the middle, I'm not swinging. Even if it means I'm down 0-1 in the count. I want to work the count and get to as many 2-2 and 3-2 counts as possible. I'm also working on not chasing the low and away stuff (low offspeed in the dirt is my achilles), as there's really not much a batter can do with those pitches anyway (rolled over ground balls, strikeouts). Make the pitcher throw more pitches. because the more the pitcher throws, the quicker his energy will deplete. In a nutshell, try to be patient and work the counts. Be less aggressive and wait for your pitch. Probably not anything that you don't already know, but this is the stuff that seems to be working for me this year.

This is exactly how this game is meant to be played. Wait for your pitch. I don’t swing unless it’s down the middle. Same approach I have in real life baseball. Same approach mlb hitters. They hit mistakes. People are so choked about hitting and I have to admit DD just doesn’t feel right right now but it also seems they think they should be able to take a 100 mph fast ball on the corner out of the yard. Just doesn’t happen. Zone up down the middle and tattoo mistake pitches. That being said I don’t leave my pci in the middle. I go 3/4 of the way or at the top of the strike zone. I have a tendency to move the pci down anyways. Also. Really hard to move it up towards a 100 mph heater as a posed to getting it down to a 80 mph change up. Another thing to mention and what makes this game great is how true to life the hitting is. You have to soft focus the pitcher and pick up the reread point. One other thing that helps is to pay attention to what and where your opponent pitches in certain situations. You’d be surprised how much this helps. In short. Zone up over the middle work the count. Until you have to strikes on you. Then battle. This game really comes down to who is the most disciple for at the plate. Force guys to throw strikes.

It was good the first week and now it’s resembling The Show 19 so much(Btw was a horrible game) . This NEED TO BE FIXED BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS when HITTING was being actually REWARDED Crazy how some people consider themselves baseball fan. And dont realize it's a sport where you fail 6-7/10 times.

Exactly. Couldn’t stand how arcady it was before the patch. What was so wrong with the way 19 played. I thought it was pretty realistic. When this game came out it was a homerfest. Like I’m painting corners that are getting jacked. Dumb

@SHOW_TIME_ryan said in I never understood the “take pitches” tip: @smalltownkid1990 said in I never understood the “take pitches” tip: Yes, after 4 balls you are rewarded with a walk. Pretty simple concept. What about a pitch right down the middle? Am I supposed to let it go if it’s the first pitch of an AB? You know, to “work the count”. The whole point of taking pitches is to get a pitch down the middle, or the pitch that you’re looking for. Just because it’s a strike doesn’t mean it’s a good pitch to hit. If I’m sitting up and in and I get a low and away changeup, unless it’s a two strike count, I’m taking it. Or if it’s the first pitch of the AB and I get that high heater you bet I’m swinging. Here are a few things taking pitches does for you both in the game and IRL.. Pitch recognition. Seeing a pitch multiple times it becomes easier to hit. Figuring out a pitcher’s tendencies. Wearing down a pitcher Waiting for a pitch down the middle or the pitch you are looking for. Drawing a walk

Could not have said it better myself. Everything this guy said is vital. My friends wonder how I lay-off the close ones all the time. It’s because I shrink the strike zone to just the middle until I have two strikes on me. Like he said not all strikes are good pitches to hit. People think they should be able to take great pitches on the corners deep just because they get their pci on it. Mlb players may get hits on those pitches but they rarely take them deep. I play this game a lot and for the most part I think it plays pretty realistic.
Couldn’t agree more. It’s driving me nuts.
Boys. This perfect/perfect sound issue is my only gripe with the game right now. It’s killing me. Sooooooooooo quiet.
Man. You can’t even here it on my tv ️ You guys all on ps5. Maybe it’s a ps4 issue. Don’t it’s high on there priority list to fix. If at all.
Must be. My brother says the same thing as you
Boys. I just posted about this. I’m playing on ps4 . Grown [censored] man who can’t walk into a store and purchase a ps5 cause there aren’t any. 🤬. I’m absolutely rattled about the sound of the perfect perfect hit sound. Sounds like a bunt in last years game. No idea why they changed this. I play hardball with wood bats. Last years game sounded way more real. This year sounds terrible. Every time I hit a bomb. I’m welling at my bro. “Tick”. Oh. Must be gone. Haha. Brutal. Man I hope they fix this and soon. Otherwise. I’m loving the competitive mode. Good game thus far
I was a default strike zone 3 guy forever because I like seeing the entire batter. I finally converted to strike zone 2 last year. Easier to see the ball and still looks great when you make contact. You switch it in gameplay setting. Zoom is a happy medium if you want to be closer and still see almost all of the batter.
What’s up with perfect/perfect crack of the bat sounds like a bunt from the show 20. Man I hope they fix this. It’s driving me nuts. My brother has the game for ps5 and he’s using headphones. I am not. He says it sounds good on his. I don’t get it.

@bluetractorman22 said in Wish strike zone hitting view wasn’t an option: Sucks that to compete in this game you need to use strike zone hitting view like everyone else. Just looks so terrible. Just wondering if anyone else feels this way. I’ve gotten as high as just below 700 rating in ranked season but can’t push past. Not to mention I refuse to spend my own money on player cards. I guess what I’m wondering is how many use a hitting view where you see the majority of the batter and have made it to World Series ranking or how many use strike zone cause they feel it’s the only way to compete at a higher level but hate it. I’m not looking for a war here guys. I get it. Just don’t like it and was wondering what you all thought. Thanks. If you are good at the game you don't need to spend a dime. Even the worst players don't need to spend any money, just have patience as you can build an amazing team over time. The people that complain about the money angle are just making excuses. They think the expensive cards will all of a sudden help them pick up fastballs better or help them differentiate a slider from a curveballs. Stop with the excuses. Its just a video game. If you cant get to 700 rating i dont think your problem is the "no money spent.". I think you just need to get way better at the game. Secondly, if you can hit the ball and see the ball better on strike zone then why use any other angle? Because the other angles are cooler looking? Lol. You got to decide what's more important for you. Graphics and looks or winning and getting better.

I know it’s just a video game bud. Just killing time during the pandemic here. Not truly that upset about it. Just surprised how many people use it when you lose all the sweet aspects I mentioned in the game. I have built a descent team without spending a dime but you’re lying to yourself if you say a lot haven’t and that it doesn’t make a difference I hit better with th the better diamond players and pitch better with the better diamond pitchers. I’m not a game hater here. I love this game. Think it’s awesome. I also get that 700 rating isn’t that good but I’m confident I would have kept climbing the ranks if I could have kept playing as much as I was at the start because I was off work with the corona thing. Back to work now so when I play I’m a bit rusty. I have decided what’s more important. How the game plays and LOOKS. Can I ask what your rating is. What hitting view you play in and how much money you’ve spent on player cards. Again not trying to start a war here. Just curious. Thought this was a little more interesting than “hitting broken”. “My outfielders can’t catch”. Lol Really I was wondering how many people are having a high success rate using one of the further away views. All I see when I check out you tube is strike zone camera angle from all the top players on there.
