We’re talking PED here, not legal issues. Those guys were clearly users but live(d) in denial AND obliterated the record book, which baseball has always kept in high regard compared to other sports.

Yeah, they cheated but Bonds and maybe McGwire didn't need them to be great.
    Didn't Bonds win a couple of MVP's w/o steroids?

I’m not expressing my personal views here, just discussing why these guys are on some kind of unofficial black list from MLB, and absent from the game. I don’t understand what your point is or how it relates to the OP’s question.

Yep he did, but he got jealous of Sosa/Big Mac and decided to do it too. He probably would have gotten more stolen bases and been a defensive factor longer had he not, maybe. Back in the mid-90s the debate was who was better, Bonds or Junior. Jr had more HRs and played a more important position at a high level, but Bonds did everything well, like stealing and walks. Now personality, you had “The Kid” vs Darth Vader lol

My point is, I think the morals are in the wrong place for keeping guys out of the game over steroids. Guys who were never suspended but are guilty in the court of public opinion, for sure. Yet at the same time putting people in the game who have been suspended over domestic violence. Guys that were investigated and found guilty by MLB. I find it to be hypocritical.

Not disputing that, but they’re part of the Association and there’s a deal in place; pretty much out of their hands. It’s like unions, they have to represent/defend their members even if they know they’re grossly incompetent.

Guys that have been more or less forthcoming since the Mitchell report are in, the others not. So it’s not impossible we see a Pettite in future years, for example. Notorious jerks and/or deniers are not: Sosa, McGwire, Palmeiro, Clemens…

yet weve had albert belle and piazza

Belle and Piazza weren’t in the Mitchell report

No but Gagne, Sheffield, Justice, Brian Roberts, Troy Glaus and formerly in the game Benito Santiago, Rick Ankiel, Matt Williams and Lenny Dykstra were

belles an asshole and piazza is a known steroid user he just never got popped on a test

As far as people being assholes and cheaters, I’d rather have them then the wife beaters and racists.

Exactly, that’s my point. Notorious deniers and jerks/bullies about it are not in. I think also if they haven’t impacted the record book, they’re more likely to be in. And Dykstra’s legal troubles won’t help. The guys the OP mentioned are poster boys. I wonder if Arod being involved with MLB as a broadcaster will help him one day

How was big mac a [censored]? He testified to congress, and told the truth, he completely came clean and answered all questions. Because he was honest and accountable, he was allowed back into baseball and worked as a coach for 8 years.

He now spends his time raising his triplet girls, and running a non-profit that helps support children who are victims of sexual and/or physical abuse.

He impacted the single season record. That is what other guy is implying.

I also thought for a while that they were deliberately left out of the game bc of their ties with steroids. If that's the case then, why is Giambi and Braun in this game? Personally, I think it's because none of them has ever given SDS permission because they don't want anyone to be making money from their name and likeness. Michael Jordan is the same way.

Braun was active until recently and unreturned. Giambi has been the cover guy for several video games so it is a good bet he wants to be in game. Also much younger than Bonds and McGwire. Not sure why Sammy isn’t in. I do know he got weird after leaving game.

Well I don't know if that makes him a [censored]. Baseball players have been using foreign substances as long as the game has been around, it's certainly nothing new. If that is the sole reason he's not in the game, SDS and the MLBPA will be hard pressed to find anyone that meets their standards.

I didn’t say he was whatever word is being sensored. It was an either or scenario. Bonds meets both criteria. He didn’t allow his likeness in games since he left Pittsburg. Both Sammy and Mark impacted the history books. I personally believe SDS would have them if they could.
