I will preface this by saying I am a first year xbox player and "git gud" may be the actual answer to this but I just dont understand how hitting works. Generally I'll end up with the about the same number of hits as my opponent but lose because 2 of their hits were homeruns while all my perfect/good swings are are flyouts to the warning track or liners caught by the infielders etc. So what are the other factors involved? I know pitcher stamina and confidence play a role and I know that i swing too much for sure but is pitcher confidence keeping all my good swings in the yard? and why? if a pitcher throws a "prefect" pitch and I square it up do I not leave the yard or even get a hit because the pitch was "perfect" and jus make weak contact instead? If I hit the same ball the same way as my opponent in the same spot but one pitch is "perfect" and the other is "early" is there a dfifference in contact or power? Is there a penalty for making contact outside the strike zone? and if so why?

or is it all jus a [censored] shoot and I should "git gud"

sorry for the long post I jus cant seem to drive in runs anymore

What type of TV/monitor are you playing on? Sometimes its as easy a adjusting some settings. What you're seeing and the feedback you're getting aren't always true.

acer predator xb241h. its slightly old by todays standards but is 144hz through display port. it only does 60hz through hdmi but im under the impression this game only runs at 60 fps anyway.

I dont really have a problem making contact I just dont understand what makes some hits a home run and others just can of corn flyouts? what determines if something is a hit OTHER than the obvious such as contact numbers, k/9 numbers, and swing timing/pci placement

I know you're not a dev and this is a rhetorical question but why even give us our opponents feedback if its not correct?

Hitting is just odd. I can put the pci on the same pitch in the same location with the same timing and a guy with 62 power homers and a guy doing the same thing but with 108 power lines out.

The sad truth is there is so much RNG in this game it’s making what you think should happen, not happen.

Basically there are multiple pools of results. If the pci is here and the pitch is this then consult hit pool 46. It then does a dice roll and you are handed a result.
Hit pool 42 might have all lineouts and 1 gapper so if that is what is summoned you have the slimmest chances of getting a hit.
If the game deems your pci location and the pitch type are suitable for hit pool 1 which is 75% homer 15% warning track and 10% shallow fly you have a decent chance of homering.

This explains why bad pci can homer and why perfect/perfect fails.

They need to fine tune the p/p hit pool. It’s currently too negative, also take out all the p/p foul ball results from all pools.

There honestly seems to be a lot that factors in. Almost all of those things you mentioned are supposed to factor in but I don't always believe they do. I think timing is one of the biggest things this year, even more important than PCI placement. This year's game has great gameplay at times, but also terrible gameplay at times. I think with the intro of pinpoint in the game that has trumped hitting a bit. Its hard to square [censored] up if they're all on the border of the plate.. It makes an average player godlike sometimes.. Luck is part of it too but if it was all luck then there wouldn't be the same players consistently on the top of the leaderboards. Try to work plate appearances and get pitch counts up. It makes a difference too.

Everyone comes to the conclusion you are coming to after fully learning the game. The only answer is to play perfect and dominate your opponent taking it out of the hands of the RNG. Sometimes you just aren’t going to win.

sadly as a madden guy I can completely comprehend this. I'm fairly good I think at limiting mistakes so I guess my question is what can I do to mitigate rng in this game? In madden there seems to be tangible things you can do such as go on conservative carrying so you are way less likely to fumble or kickoff to the fullback instead of letting deion sanders return the ball. Not that any of that translates but I guess it just seems as though every time I turn the game on I have vastly different experiences despite the feeling of me being fairly consistent (maybe I'm not)

It wasn't a joke..... it was you just saying something...... If that's your definition of a joke then "I am hungry" is technically a joke.
