So I stumbled across this YouTube video of MLB pitches from a batter's POV and it made me realize, "This doesn't look that hard to hit." The pitches don't seem that fast, I think I could hit these.
I haven't played baseball since middle school, but I'm a young adult in pretty good physical condition. I believe I'm getting a hit in 20 ABs versus an average MLB pitcher and defense. I said this in a group chat and basically got flamed, but I'm pretty sure I'm right here.
Ball gets to you in less than a second! In that time you got to decide where the pitch is location wise, what kind of a pitch it is among some of the intangibles. Hardest thing to do in all pro sports is hit a [censored] baseball where the best in the world fail a minimum of 70% and that's among the upper echelon. Slow down down son and humble urself a little. Most of us couldn't score a point going up against an NBA player even.
This is incorrect, if it's not make it take it, I could score once or twice in a game to 21 against an NBA bench player.
yeah and I could beat up connor mcgregor and GSP. maybe even brock lesnar, just ask me.

Go try out for juco ball, basketball or baseball, film the results and post them. Otherwise stop running your mouth.
And while I have you, please describe these statistics that are on your side. You relate everything back to probabilities of PROFESSIONALS succeeding and just try to apply them to yourself. My guess is you're maybe 50th percentile in athletic ability in general public, much lower in professional sports -
I would bet my entire 401K that you couldn’t put a ball in play. I’m seriously not trying to be mean, but you haven’t even played high school and you think you could hit a major league pitcher? Also, they aren’t gonna serve you up 92mph fastballs down the middle... they’re gonna hit spots. Then when they drop in a slider that looked like it was coming for your hip out of the pitchers hand, my bet is that you [censored] your pants.

Scoring one bucket is not equivalent to winning a fight lol. Your shooting doesn't really get worse depending on your opponent, if you can shoot, you'll score at least once.

If I wasn't a broke college kid, I'd bet a large sum of money on me putting a ball in play in 20 ABs.

Even players like Aaron Judge go through patches of 1-20 in plates appearances.

I can’t say I’ve ever played baseball but I have played cricket. The bowler is a similar distance and nearly as fast - when you get the odd ringer playing who can bowl 75-80mph you’ve got no chance.

As someone who played low level pro ball, if an active middle school player got 20 at bats they MIGHT get a lucky hit. Possibly. Probably not though. I definitely wouldn't straight up bet on him, but if the odds are good enough (I'm talking at least 10-1, likely closer to 20) I'd throw down some cash on the chance a middle schooler lucks out.
Someone who only played up until middle school and hasn't swung a bat in years? I mean yeah it's possible, but extremely unlikely. Any professional pitcher will find a gaping hole in his swing and exploit it. OP can not close that in 30 minutes. And as he gets more tired from swinging his bat slows down.
OP's chance is in the decibels of a percentage, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile...

that's simply not true. The worst NBA player is maybe 10 times better than a great pickup player, not 100.
I said the average person, a great pickup player is has much better basketball skills than an average person.

Well then I'm significantly better at baseball than the average person. I have at least played at some level, I know good form and technique and have a better eye.

Let me put this to you mildly. If the last time you played any real baseball is when you were 13 or 14, you have no chance in heck of making contact against a real MLB pitcher. Do you really think 92+ is slow?.....that would be gas to you no matter what kind of shape you're in. I admit it was a good enough post to get 8 or 9 pages of comments but this dream would never come true.
