Can someone help me understand why everyone asks for a friendly quit in Ranked Seasons before they hard quit?

I'm not trying to be a DB, but I'm in RS to try to get wins. I get quitting out because who needs to waste their time on a game they're gonna lose, but come on.

They are being the DB.... just decline it and then let them quit. It’s a bush league move...

Only acceptable times to do a FQ —

    Same pitcher.

Sometimes if you don't accept it, you end up regretting it LOL. If any pitches are thrown I won't accept it, but if the game hasn't started, I accept it all day. It's only a game.

I should clarify - I'm talking about when I'm up 5-0 in the fourth inning after a couple of dingers. I will absolutely give someone an FQ if we haven't started yet.

When you have a strong team you get these a lot tho. At some point you have to play. Win or lose.

I just tend to decline them straight up unless there is some terrible lag.

IMO, there is no reason to friendly quit request outside of lag. Feels like half the requests before games starts are because they saw your pitcher/lineup and decided they didnt want to play that game.

After the game starts, definitely not accepting it.

If they come back or I just get dominated, so be it. I'll take that L.

Yeah, no I would not accept it either. Like the other guy said, some guys are just douches.

People make that argument all the time. I wouldn't accept a friendly quit if my opponent has the same hitters as me, so why would I accept one for us having the same starting pitcher? Does your logic apply to the bullpen as well? If I bring in Mariano Rivera, and then they bring in Mariano River in the next inning should one of us send a friendly quit? We both have the same pitcher on the mound.

    It makes no sense.

I like playing games like this. Makes it feel more like an even tilt and a test of skill/strategy.

Huge superstition between the correlation of rng and FQ. (Many people think if you decline a FQ the game goes in favor of the one who sent it)

For me it’s just to have some variation to start the game. But you do you.

I don't decline FQ immediately in ranked, I just sit there and let their timer run out. If they leave the FQ up for 3+ mins, I reject it and force forfeit them. Call me a douche if you want.

I usually decline right away, but sometimes if they send it after I go up by a lot I let it sit there until they cancel it or quit. Almost like sending a small child to their room to think about what they've done.

I’ve never quit anything in my life and now people think I’m going to “friendly” quit something. Lmao GTFOH. All you did was motivate me to mercy rule you instead of just have a nice casual, competitive game. It turns personal at that point.

Unfortunately the friendly quit thing is similar to spam calls / emails. They don't have to succeed with every person. If it works 1/100 times and there is no penalty for trying, they will throw it out there once they start losing. 99% of the people on this forum know not to accept it, but there are plenty of new players this year that don't read carefully and may think it means their opponent concedes.

I think I've received more friendly quit requests in ranked after I've gone up this year than in all of 20 and 19 combined. I haven't played a lot of ranked, but I think I'm 17-1 and I'm pretty sure I received at least 12 friendly quit requests.

Yeah I get them regularly because my record, I accept some if the other team has a similar record or whatever but I won't accept 2 in a row no matter the other team. Dont have that much time to play so cant be spending it all loading in and out of games
