I'm really having trouble hitting high fastballs. Have tried everything. One whole game I kept my controller in the top of the strike zone and tried every timing possible. I always got a "very late" message. Well, most of the time. Occasionally I would foul one off.

I know this is not the end of the world. But I feel I may be at a small deficit unless I can consistently get my bat to strike the ball when it's fast and high. If anyone has any pointers it would be so great if you could share with me. Thanks in advance.

So depending on the connection with your opponent, 100mph fastballs can seem like they’re 120mph. You really need every advantage you can get. Do you know what your tvs input lag is? I know this isn’t exactly what you asked, but that always comes to mind if you can’t touch a fastball at all.

go into custom practice, pick a pitcher who throws hard and have him throw you inside fastballs over and over. helps me warm up before i play online

Go do batting practice on a higher difficulty than what you’ve been playing on. Should speed up your bat a bit

Have the same struggles, but I tend to just take high pitches and hope they miss the strike zone. Probably 60/40 strikeout to walk ratio for me on average. Personally rather deal with high fastballs than in the dirt changeups.

Yeah, that’s a great tv for gaming. Even though you’re in game mode, it might be worth it to check and make sure all picture processing options are off. On rtings.com it said your tv has an input lag of 92ms with interpolation on. I’m sure game mode turns that off, but it might be worth checking out.

I also game on an LG OLED (or mostly an HDR LG monitor lately) and they're both good for gaming. OLEDs are one of the fastest TVs actually. My monitor isn't even that much better, though it's not fast for a monitor, but does look better than the fast ones.
Anyways, I also struggle with high or inside fastballs more than anything. It's much easier for me to move my PCI down and crush low balls. I have to start with the PCI high to hit high balls. Online it's just worse.

Monitor with 5 ms or under input lag. Do it and you’ll see. Especially if your talking offline lol. Online there’s opponent connection and then timing is pretty random anyway. User input is about 20% of the equation online unless you are just really really good.

Amazon has the Dell S272 with a pre-Memorial day sale of $230. Should i buy it or would the 27" be too small? The Asus ProArt is 32" but much more expensive. I'll do anything to hit that high fast ball. Money isn't really an obstacle if it might allow me to be a much better batter in MLB the Show.

If anyone has experience playing this game on the ProArt please let me know your opinion.

Move the PCI up and down and all around before the pitch .. nothing to crazy just to get an idea of the zone. Before the pitch sit high fastball while lacing your PCI 3/4 the way up.

Look at the pitchers release point, looking for first movement.

    1. Baseball goes up a little, adjust and wait cause it's a breaking ball.

    2. If the ball looks like it's coming low, let it go if you don't have 2 strikes.

    3. If they throw a high fastball, you will be waiting on it with your PCI placement.

(Really shrink down your strike zone early on in the game) GL!!!!

Like said above, custom practice on legend vs Nolan Ryan or similar.

The other part of this is approach. Obviously if your opponent exposes your inability to hit fastballs, you will see tons on them. That being said, picking up your opponent’s tendencies helps a lot.

Lots of players online will just spam balls until you don’t swing at them. Swinging at fastballs (sinkers or cutters more likely) in hitter’s count is better than chasing high fastball LS early, if you are having trouble with them.

I might also be in the market for a monitor. So, I’m curious what people think of this one.

In another three I made earlier as asus was recommended. It should still be towed the top of the comments.
