Steroids saved the game! Bring on the ROID era!!! I remember the crowd numbers in early ‘95. Some crowds had less than 2500 fans.

Montreal.... So sad.. especially after their insane '94 team.

That team would’ve won it all I have no doubt!

    100%!

Watching them that year was incredible.

I wanted to see what Jeff Bagwells stats would have ended up. Actually I think he might have got hurt right around when the season ended. But in 2/3s of a season he hit .368 slugged .750 with a 1.201 Ops 39 bombs 116 rbi 104 runs and 15 SBs
    In 110 games lol

Think he meant the 94 expos.. but ya. Bagwell was nuts that year.

Yeah I did, but I forgot about how sick Bag's numbers were that year. Actually looking at MLB stats just now, there were so many crazy storylines. Massive HR numbers, pitchers winning huge numbers of games (Jimmy Key! even though he was a Yankee then), and of course Tony Gwynn. What a year it was even though it was cut short.

Matt Williams chase for the HR record. Gwynn chase for .400. Maddux had an ERA of 1.50. What could have been.

Big hurt was a monster that year... Again..

He had a chance at the triple crown that season. Just remembering 1994 makes me upset. Donald Fehr/Bud Selig. Sad times.

I hear ya!! I had the most spoiled childhood a young baseball fan could ever ask for... Becoming a die hard Jays fan by 1989.. Skydome, 2 world series, close in '91 as well.. peak of baseball cards.. Ken Griffey Jr!!
Then it felt like it all came crashing down....

Steroids isn't why they aren't in the game. All those guys have extremely high egos and won't give up their rights. At least not for what SDS is willing to pay

Does SDS flip the bill or Sony? I’m assuming there is a substantial difference in the depths of each of their pockets.

I'm guessing Sony gives them a certain budget for new legends and SDS allocates that as they wish. There's no way to know 100% for sure how it works though

I’d like to see a wink and a nod to Deion Sander’ career in MLB. He’s certainly not shy about selling his likeness for a buck.

Yankees (70-43) were running away with AL and Montreal Expos(70-40) in the NL. Spos had Young Vlad , young Pedro, Moises Alou, Gary Carter, Cliff Floyd, Larry Walker.
Yanks had Mike Stanley (Good [censored] catcher who hit, hit, hit), Bernie, Mattingly, O'Neil, Danny Tartabull was a monster, Pat Kelley lol and had a deep bench. That would have been the WS IMO

Vlad I forgot. Thought Carter was there. You're right though, 1992. Randell White was on that squad too I forgot and just seen.

I agree. He was better than Big Papi in every way, but you wouldn't know it.. incredible plate discipline and power.

I did forget about that, and somehow missed it when I was checking out those stats yesterday! I remember the buzz now that I've been reminded. It really was one hell of a year. I was reading this morning that Griffey Jr said everyone picked a terrible year to have a great one.

Yanks had Mike Stanley (Good [censored] catcher who hit, hit, hit), Bernie, Mattingly, O'Neil, Danny Tartabull was a monster, Pat Kelley lol and had a deep bench. That would have been the WS IMO

You’re blending timelines with the Expos: Carter retired after ‘92; his last AB was a double at the Big O vs the Phillies (I think, maybe Cincy). Vlad wasn’t on the radar yet (came up in September 96 when rosters expanded); Floyd and White were recalled because Walker had a shoulder injury and playing 1B. Floyd was THE blue chip we were waiting on; terrible trade with the Marlins. They were trying to put him at first (go figure) and had a horrific wrist injury on an errant throw to first and tagging the runner. Alou was having an MVP year after his devastating and gross injury in 93. I still get a kick out of the ump’s reaction at 2B when he saw it but watching Alou it hurts ugh!!!

Steroids isn't why they aren't in the game. All those guys have extremely high egos and won't give up their rights. At least not for what SDS is willing to pay

    Not projecting at all....

It was a sad year for me, besides the stoppage, because it was the year that I realized the Jays dynasty might be over...

The Indians were 66-47 and the White Sox were 67-46 lmao. Even the Royals had 61 wins.....

Steroids isn't why they aren't in the game. All those guys have extremely high egos and won't give up their rights. At least not for what SDS is willing to pay

uh wrong... Bonds does but the rest don't. It's the mlbpa that keeps most of those guys out.

SDS negotiates with all retired players individually. They aren't in the MLBPA after they retire

I think you misunderstand. The mlbpa has a say on who sds negotiates with and they don't want them to negotiate with the steroid guys.

I really think you are looking too much into it. SDS is a business. MLB and the MLBPA probably do have a list of people that can't be in the game, but it's the Chicago Black Sox and Pete Rose. Maybe Bonds and Clemens but that is probably just because they were the faces of the whole thing. There's no way they would let SDS get the rights to Giambi but not say Jose Canseco. They didn't care about this game at all until they wanted Xbox added to the mix, which was likely a marketing ploy for baseball as a whole. I really don't think the MLBPA cares much about this game at all

I disagree.. The faces of the steroid era are 5 deep and not 2. Sosa, mcgwire, Bonds, Clemens and Palmero are all the faces of that era. I don't think any get in the game and also don't think canseco gets in because of the book and the literal distain most players and exec's have for the guy. If not acknowledging the game is the benchmark then no old player would be included. Only the guys who grew up playing would know about the game. I don't think sosa or mcgwire would care if sds wanted to use them..
