Tim Anderson fielding
-
So I'm watching the Sox play the Yankees and I see Tim Anderson making a nice sliding play to take away a hit from Kyle Higashioka. Which reminded me that Tim has a 63 fielding and a 63 reaction rating in this game.
According to fangraphs, Tim is better in every defensive category than Fransisco Lindor this year and has only made 1 error so far. Lindor has an 85 fielding rating and 90 reaction.
I'm not saying Tim Anderson is a better fielder than a multiple gold glove winner in Lindor. I know TA is more valuable for his bat. But 63 fielding and 63 reaction? That's horrible. Should be around a 75 at least.

It’s based off of a 3 year average. No doubt Tim’s defense has gotten much better this year but he’ll have to prove it for longer than just a two months before they can actually give home a noticeable boost.

Yeah I know it goes over a 3 year average, but even then 63 is abysmal.

I think the same thing about Bogaerts..
Without looking up his defensive metrics and all that, every time I've watched him play, which is every game against the Jays, he's making crazy plays, extremely reliable, great arm and range.... Every time I've seen him..
Maybe he's only good when he plays the Jays, because his ratings are trash in this game -

They want to make him a 3B for our national squad which he refuses because the Red Sox see him as a SS so why wouldn't our national squad? In his logic that is, because we also have Simmons who is undeniably a gazillion times better in the field.

Yup, Simba is a wizard with the glove.

Another interesting comparison would be Trea Turner. Very comparable hitting to Tim but also a 60 something rated fielder. Yet he is an 86 overall diamond. So speed and stealing makes up +4 in overall difference? Either that or they really weigh the vision stat heavily, which Trea has +14.

Gotta be the speed at the position. They probably weigh it heavily at SS

If they gave him 75 fielding he would probably be a diamond and I believe they only want a certain amount of live series diamonds at any given time.

I think he should be a diamond honestly. He ended as a diamond last year and he's been having a pretty good start as well. Not to mention the fact he's the heart and soul of the team.

I don’t think they take heart and soul into consideration. Nor do they take into consideration how much we like a player or how many of the player we own.

Yes they actually do take a player's importance to the ballclub in consideration, whether they acknowledge it or not. And all of my statements has nothing to do with my sentiment or how many I own, look up the stats and then ask yourself how on earth they downgraded him by 1 on the last update.

I agree. LS TA7 should be a 95 overall.
P.S. I may own 100 TA7 LS cards and can not be 100% impartial.

Lmao. In that case I certainly hope he does go diamond for your sake. But all jokes aside, he is very underappreciated in my opinion and especially the defense should be adjusted to 70-75.

I did own 100 of his cards last year just before the final roster update, and he did sneak up to a diamond. So... wishful thinking.

I hope it works out for you again, like I said I think he deserves it. So I would be happy if I'd be sitting on 100 like you because I believe he has a good shot.

He's a good player but heart and soul have no rating in mlb the show. Some would call him an arrogant a$$hole

I know it doesn't have a literal rating. But Fernando Tatis Jr. having upper 80s fielding is an example of something similar. I'm a fan of Tatis but he's been having some serious issues defensively and yet he has an elite rating because he's the cover athlete.
