A new problem with pause timer.
-
Just played a game where I forfeited for running out my pause timer despite being paused for less than 20 seconds total between pinch hitting for my pitcher and warming up a sub. This was in the second inning of an event game. I had not paused the game once up until that point. A user on Reddit mentioned running into the same issue, so it doesn't appear to be a completely isolated issue.
Tried to report a bug but it kept failing to go throughEdit: I don't want the loss taken away, I don't want be gifted an extra win. I don't care about losing an event game. But want to bring this to sds' attention before it affects a game people actually care about the outcome of

Tried to report a bug but it kept failing to go throughYou have to be careful it used to be a thing when using D-pad quick menu's will run clock down as well. Not sure if that was case or if it's still a thing or not. I generally don't pause. But might be good idea to monitor it.

d pad quick menu definitely still counts. I hadn't done that at all prior to the pinch hitter though.

Without a video, I don't see this happening in any mechanical sense.
I also don't believe anything because of one reddit post.

I will post a video. But how do I prove to you when you inevitably ask for proof that I didn't pause before then? I only screen recorded from right before going into the pause menu until going back to main menu.
Edit: quoted the wrong part of your comment, rest still stands

that proves nothing you ran your timer down he forfeited you

That video shows that you have zero time remaining on your pause timer, but it doesn't show the rest of the game. How are we supposed to know if you ran it down or not?
Just saying, rest of the video would be important.

Seriously? I ran my pause timer down in the first inning and came here to make up a new glitch to what? Make myself feel better? I was not streaming the game. I hit capture after getting sent to main menu. It's all I could get
-
I literally stream any game in Ranked just to isolate bugs. I have little to no followers.
I mentioned video proof as a tool, not an accusation. My comment about Reddit stands.
Back to my point. Mechanics, don't support the claim of a timer running down without a user input. If you work your defense alignment, your clock goes down. Anything but R2 makes your clock go down actually.
There's no glitch that magically makes a user have their pause timer taken away in an event game. Something like that would spread over Reddit and TSN faster than covid-19.
One Reddit post doesn't confirm a bug.
BTW, event games start with 1:30 I think. That's not a lot of time for pausing to begin with.

It only lasts 30 seconds on xbox. But believe what you wish, I'm not trying to convince anyone, just trying to let sds know about this problem

Xbox will last however long you want it to. You can change your capture length in the settings

I would believe you had I not witnessed it first hand. I cannot prove to anyone here that I never paused before that moment. I am not a new player, I'm well aware of the mechanics of pause timer, there was nothing done prior to the start of the video that would use up any of my time. Hell, I didn't even so much as hit R2.
Your absolute certainty in all things glitch related leads me to not trust your word. I understand healthy skepticism with something like this, but seriously, could you even consider the possibility that something is going wrong and you don't know how/why it could happen?

Yes, I could believe it if it was happening more frequently. Not trying to be obtuse here.
With any glitch or bug, it has to be genuinely repeatable and commonly reported. With the ridiculous amount of pausing done by players of this game, it would be getting reported all over the place.
When human error is a more likely explanation, I will absolutely be skeptical of it being a "glitch" or "bug".
The likelihood that you did something inadvertently is greater than it being a glitch or bug.
-
@hoboadam_PSN That is fair and a much more nuanced argument that I can respect. I still maintain that I did nothing to cause the pause timer to start, whether intentionally or inadvertantly, before the video, but I understand why most wouldn't believe it. Finally got the bug report to send, so all is moot anyway.
