jason bay or lee smith?
-
just wondering who you all have been picking, imo smith will be in my pen for a long long time but due to recent pack luck of chapman and hader, and the free picks of mo and matt barnes I dont feel the need as much to get another reliever.
that being said ive heard bays swing is a bit wonky and having buxton, belli, and harper in the OF would make me have to bench harper or do some swapping with gallo being benched. any and all takes are ideal thanks -
I just picked lee. Not a lot of 95 rated rp available. My bp is pretty good but it's now a lot better. Plenty of 95's position players available...
-
I’m taking Smith. There’s always tons of good outfield options and it seems like there’s never enough good bullpen arms. On top of that Smith will make my all Cubs team at the end of the year
-
I couldn't decide so I'm getting all three. Have Smith and Bay so far, and both of them are great.
-
Probably Smith.
OF is crowded and my offensive results have been rather disappointing lately and I don't think Bay is going to fix that.

this is the way im slightly leaning as bullpen is always needed whereas theres always so many positions players that are viable especially outfield

I'm taking the HOFer and one time career saves leader.
-
Lee Smith without a doubt. He's my favorite RHP out of the pen
-
It’s a [censored] shoot. Goose, Mo and the likes still got lit up last year. To me relievers are a dime a dozen. My most effective relieves this year have been Franco and Hoffman. Everyone seems to be able to hit fastballs these days

I've tried all 3. Mattingly is my favorite real life player of all-time, but this card does not do him justice. Really good contact, but you really need more power (I'll still use him because of my love for The Hitman). Jason Bay is fine, but I think there are already better outfield options. I love Lee Smith. Great fastball, lethal forkball. Smith is probably the player that will be on the team the longest.

Lee Smith without a doubt. You can find lots of hitters similar or better then those two but not a RP.
I took Mattingly and sold him because he was going for the most a week ago and only because I bought Smith the first day he was available. -
Mattingly

Cheers, my friend...
Donnie Baseball is my favorite player of all time also.....
Stats due him an INJUSTICE -- he played in an era when his 35 and 31 HRs were top 5 in the whole league and only 1 player hit 40 (and it was 40 on the nose).
If he played in the juiced ball era he would have put up numbers they would still be talking about today. Instead he just hit .307 for his career.
Oh, and he played gold glove defense.
If he played now, not only would his numbers have been ridiculous, modern medicine might have been able to keep him playing at an MVP level longer, since it was nagging issues that held him back for the second half of his career.
Anyway - He could never get a fair shake in a game like The Show. They dont reward line drive hitters.....Im just happy he got a Boss card. Thats pretty cool!
Here's to #23!
-
Jason Bay cause he's Canadian, ofc

I agree with all the Mattingly comments...but I am wondering what are the better 1st base options at this point? The Musial is very similar to the Mattingly in that there is not enough power for this game. The Vlad POTM isn't great against lefties and his defense is terrible. Freddie is ok.... I liked the Prince when I used it in BR, but that was a very limited sample size.
-
Mattingly dominated for me in the 2nd innjng showdown. So I had to take him. Then I hit a HR with him on his very first at bat in a RS game.
Bought Lee Smith as well.
So many OF already, but I guess I’ll buy Bay just bc I have the other two.
-
Lee Smith. I like how fast his pitching motion is, especially grinding offline. I can't believe how stacked my bullpen is already this year.
-
Lee Smith will likely be in your bullpen all year.
