And I don't try to cheese and steal that much. But the amount of pitch outs by the computer are literally a third to a half of the time you attempt a stolen base. It gets ridiculous after a while.

The pitchouts were like this last year, too.

Wait for two balls....rare pitchouts then.....even on 1-2 counts....steal rate increases dramatically after two balls.

Plus every time you take an extra lead the CPU throws over. It’s beyond annoying.

Walk rate increases dramatically after two balls as well, is it worth holding at first instead?

I just wait until after the 1st pitch even if a strike then take my chances but I have been pitched out on the very next pitch and gunned down with that skip hop and tag throw that the CPU just so magically gets all the time..It is annoying but what can you do right?!!

I played online for the first time a few weeks ago (19) and with a 3-2 count with two outs his pitcher picked off my guy at first who I’d set to run on the pitch.

What is the consensus - is that poor sportsmanship or should I have known better?

That is just strange. In that situation, I’d be praying my pitch went for a strike, trying to get the batter out.

The worst is when you take a step lead and they throw over 10 times 9 times your safe and that 10th your guy just freezes

Wait 3 pitches. I’ve never seen the CPU pitch out from the 4th pitch onward in an AB.

Seems to me the computer knows exactly when you make the steal call...CPU gets the advantage in certain situations if u ask me as to not let the player just hot dog the CPU..I feel your pain but 3-2 2 outs they should be worried about the pitch but they just guessed u were sending the runner anyway in that count sequence Hope that makes sense

Yeah makes sense, just wondering about the etiquette. Eg it’s courtesy to not take an extra lead off step against another person apparently so I was wondering if there was a similar thing in this situation, is there an unwritten rule that you don’t attempt a pick off on a 3-2 count with two outs when the runner’s lead-off is minimal..

By the way, with the whole ‘extra step’ thing, is the extra step the first time we press L1 or the second?

yes the 1st time u press L1 last yrs game use to get you picked off between the animation and I would get livid. Or they would throw over 3 to 4 times and the last throw over would get you picked it has to be set in the algorithm of the game and the CPU gets that advantage we just have to out think the CPU in those situations is all I guess..

Any two ball count or two strike count makes the pitchout and quick wind up to home stop so they are safe to run on. I don’t take an extra step though so that may change the equation. Long as u don’t take a lead and it’s two balls or two strikes ur good.

It shouldn't be this way. No realism whatsoever.
