It's interesting how on one side of the issue there's an actual feature in the game (triggered by a control) and on the other side the users affected by the use of that control. We're not talking 50/50 here no matter how any R2 supporter tries to paint it. It's 100% batter ability to freeze and disrupt against normal gameplay (pitching). The speed of the normal gameplay is a conversation, for sure, but it's not the real issue here. It's gaslighting by R2 users to expect neutrals to evaluate both sides of a coin when we're nowhere near 50/50. It's really 100/0.

If you don't then they won't have a reason to "spam"R2.
Obviously people use R2 to mess with people, but a lot of people also quick pitch. The best answer I've heard is to have a 2-3 second window after each pitch where the pitcher comes set and the batter can check things with R2. After which R2 us disabled.

So I guess you didn't read my other post, where I mentioned playing someone yesterday who hit R2 before every pitch. I would wait for the icon to go away, then give a couple of extra seconds to make sure no impact, and then the icon would keep flashing some more. I guess I was really quick-pitching that mofo huh?

The issue you have isn't with people using R2 to combat quick pitching, your issue is with people griefing by abusing R2. Two completely different things.

I am working both sides here but yes to hell with those R2 spammers that don’t check nothing there only purpose with pressing R2 multiple times an at bat is to throw off your pitch yeah to hell with those people. -

Obviously people use R2 to mess with people, but a lot of people also quick pitch. The best answer I've heard is to have a 2-3 second window after each pitch where the pitcher comes set and the batter can check things with R2. After which R2 us disabled.
There are far more people that use R2 for cheese than there are that use it for quick pitching etc. Thats what none of you seem to realize and why this discussion is even being had

The issue you have isn't with people using R2 to combat quick pitching, your issue is with people griefing by abusing R2. Two completely different things.
One thing is what someone on here wrote. The other thing is what I experienced in gameplay. Two different users, I assume. I dislike both scenarios as both are abuse of a feature although the one was attached to an attempted justification (which I don't buy, especially given their choice of terminology). And R2 isn't gameplay so is not equivalent to pitching.

R2 is simply the batter holding up his hand in the batters box for the umpire to slow down the pitcher until he is ready, so it most definitely has a purpose in this game. I use R2 but only to see confidence or check patterns. I will use it occasionally for quick pitching, which I am guilty of sometimes also. I have not seen anyone hold R2 as others are saying, however, I have seen numerous players try and speed through pitching when I have players on base to try and cheese me. This is a much bigger problem than holding R2 in my experience. Turn balks on and R2 off and the problem is solved.

In the 2nd inning content stream they mentioned R2 and they are looking into it; they know. Curious what they will do about it.
