I am not very good at this game. I own and I admit that, I'm like a 400 or 500 skill level in head to head. If that. I very often struggle to make hits and score runs.
I've accepted that I'm not that good and I still enjoy building a team by doing all the offline content, And then I like to go online occasionally with my team and see if I can get some wins.
The showdown mode broke me. I ended up uninstalling the game because of it.. that game mode is actually quite fun but it's all or nothing nature is extremely frustrating for bad or new players. You can spend an hour on a run and if you don't beat the final boss you get literally nothing. Maybe some XP but that's it.
I really feel like if you make it to the final boss and lose you should still get at least one ticket I mean what's one ticket it's nothing. But it's better than literally nothing... If you win you should get five and if you lose you should get one. Maybe make it so you can't skip to the end(and still get the 1 guaranteed ticket) if you're worried about people just cheesing to get one ticket. But if you actually play through it all beat the middle boss and then lose in the final getting nothing is heartbreaking.
It happened to me four times in a row and that combined with the fact that I suck and lose online all the time I was just like what am I doing with my life why am I playing this game.
I hope this feedback is well received If a change such as this were to be made I will probably reinstall and come back because at least then I could feel like I could grind away and get the characters I want even if I'm bad and I lose to the boss half the time or more.
If thats the case I'll just skip to the final boss and quit out each time and pile up tickets in no time. You see the flaw?
I said in the post that they could make it so that if you skip to the boss you don't get the one ticket like it disables that.
if you make it to the final boss being down 10-12, 8-12, I don't think you should be rewarded for failing, thats just my opinion and you already earned your stubs back by that point, just be patient in showdown, its a great way to improve, pop on some Netflix and just play away
See I disagree because if you make it to the final boss with 8 or 10 runs that means that you earned those 8 or 10 runs. That means you put in the time beating the moments and then picking out your players and perks and then setting your lineup. Sds didn't give you those 8 or 10 runs you earned them by grinding the mode it takes time and you have to get multiple wins. You would have to beat four or five moments plus the mini boss to go in there with 8 or 10 runs. By doing all that I feel like you should have earned and be guaranteed at least one ticket.
That's just my opinion I guess you know not everybody's going to agree.
Patience is one thing that people keep saying and I think that's true I need to be more patient.
I understand what you are saying, but the runs you get to close the lead for the final boss, is the reward for beating the smaller missions. You still get stuff along the way, but the point of the mode is to beat the final boss. If you dont beat the final boss in gaming, you didnt beat the game. You can spend hours trying to beat (insert whatever game you want here) but you cant claim you beat the game without the end credits.
So no, I dont think anyone should get vouchers for not beating the final boss. That's the whole point of the mode.

Dude youre better off going into a showdown and looking at it as much needed practice and if you get rewards then cool. But it'll only benefit you in the long run

This is what I do I'm a 500-600 level player myself - if you use directional for Ranked games don't - practice with zone and that will help your hitting , learn what players you're good with and stick with them not everyone has the same result for instance most people I play against rake with the POTM Buxton - i cannot hit with him so I don't bother. When doing showdowns or moments use directional its much easier to hit the computer controlled teams - now they only time I use zone is for the junk ballers - like Wainwright or Smily. In showdown draft high power guys it'll help.

I reinstalled the game today lol because I'm addicted.
I'm going to try some of the feedback that you guys have given. I do still wish that they would add a small something for your time but I guess we will see if they read and if they agree with me or not.

I will be the first to tell you about the frustration of showdowns, I struggle with them and hate doing them. Lots of people say “oh they are so easy”. Not for everyone their not. The secret to showdown if you struggle with them is don’t do them. That simple. It makes the game take longer and you get less rewards but less fury too.

He literally addressed that issue, plus if you charge for entry then you have to pay stubs for that. But OP said make it to where if you skip to final you dont get a ticket. One way that could be done is by getting a ticket from first boss. I think showdown is very easy as is but I have been playing baseball video games for 20 years and the show for at least 6. The issue is it is hard to cater the game to both new and veteran players. I think they do a good job of that but it will never be perfect

I believe their online mode needs a redesign though, to help new players. It's too random, find myself matched against vastly superior players way too often. We need a league pyramid type system. Put all us trash players in the bottom league, we can have some enjoyable games against each other. Put the good players in the top league with better rewards.
Playing against similar skilled players is the best way of improving. It's disheartening for a new player to be matched against experienced skilled players, that's only going to turn new players away from the game.
Its called ranked for a reason.

Well he was 80-100 last year alone in Ranked so I can only imagine... Always amazes me that people don't know you can look up their history and stats... Kinda comical. But what wpuld you expect from someone who chooses thaghettoblasta as a gametag hahha.
HA! You're comparing my online stats against my actual gameplay v.s the CPU? LOL. Your post is comical. Also, my actual ranked record was worse than what you see, so don't believe what you see. My Ranked record was close 380-576 last year. Yes I was new last year and my issue was online RANKED not simple games against a CPU.

I've played ranked in multiple sports, FPS games over the years. The ranking system is this game is flawed, outdated. I'm not sure if MLB the show has any intention of becoming an eSport, but if they want to grow their playerbase, they need to rework the ranking system.
A good ranking system starts with a placement games that puts your playerbase into set divisions, depending on their skill level.
The way it's setup now, the worst player in the world could be matched against the best player in the world at the start of ranked seasons. Current system is also easily exploitable with smurf accounts. A smurf can continually play against lower skilled players in this game. Don't you want the playerbase to grow, the game to become more popular?

most people refuse to take pitches. Once you have an actual approach at the plate it becomes significantly easier.

Out of 4 outs I’ve slammed 2 balls good and inside the pci off center and slammed one for a hr that was robbed. What part of this is fixed by getting good? Everything should be perfect perfect and hope they don’t make a diving catch or rob a homerun? I’m truly interested because I can tell you I’m not bad at the game but I’m f’ing tired of playing it. Idk maybe they want only a handful of people playing.

That's the spirit man and my apologies for insensitive comment last night. You will get better, it just takes alot of practice. Have you watched any of the tutorials on YouTube? Just search for MLB The Show 21 tips and tricks. There are some of the top 50 players giving all kinds of tips. I started with Koogs46 and McGunski and learned pretty much by watching those vids and playing way too much during the pandemic.

Well then maybe y’all should go play real baseball and we can play a video game. Somebody said it right before. You can take good/okay off the screen but it doesn’t mean it ain’t a good okay. I’m sorry I’m trying to like this game but I feel I have absolutely no control. The game just decides when I pass a mission or when i don’t. It’s the reason I dropped the game 2 weeks into last year and it’s the reason the numbers on this game will drop too. Wish it was better but it’s not.

I get the game isnt perfect and I am not saying it is but blaming the game for something that is very possible for tons of other people to do just doesnt make sense. Either way it’s still a good reason to hang it up. It’s a decent game other than gameplay and a few other things. And it’s good that the people who work on this game do seem to care. But they can only work with what they have.
I’m not pretending I’m super good. But it’s pretty obvious that the game gives you hits when it wants and outs when it wants.I’m actually almost done with TA so I do beat them. It’s just not fun at all to be able to tell how little control I have.
Like you said that’s baseball. It’s the same argument you see all the time in shooter games when people’s guns jam and they lose and they say well that happens in real life.
