Hello this post is not meant to be a hate post it's just meant to be feedback.
I am not very good at this game. I own and I admit that, I'm like a 400 or 500 skill level in head to head. If that. I very often struggle to make hits and score runs.
I've accepted that I'm not that good and I still enjoy building a team by doing all the offline content, And then I like to go online occasionally with my team and see if I can get some wins.
The showdown mode broke me. I ended up uninstalling the game because of it.. that game mode is actually quite fun but it's all or nothing nature is extremely frustrating for bad or new players. You can spend an hour on a run and if you don't beat the final boss you get literally nothing. Maybe some XP but that's it.
I really feel like if you make it to the final boss and lose you should still get at least one ticket I mean what's one ticket it's nothing. But it's better than literally nothing... If you win you should get five and if you lose you should get one. Maybe make it so you can't skip to the end(and still get the 1 guaranteed ticket) if you're worried about people just cheesing to get one ticket. But if you actually play through it all beat the middle boss and then lose in the final getting nothing is heartbreaking.
It happened to me four times in a row and that combined with the fact that I suck and lose online all the time I was just like what am I doing with my life why am I playing this game.
I hope this feedback is well received If a change such as this were to be made I will probably reinstall and come back because at least then I could feel like I could grind away and get the characters I want even if I'm bad and I lose to the boss half the time or more.
If thats the case I'll just skip to the final boss and quit out each time and pile up tickets in no time. You see the flaw?

He literally addressed that issue, plus if you charge for entry then you have to pay stubs for that. But OP said make it to where if you skip to final you dont get a ticket. One way that could be done is by getting a ticket from first boss. I think showdown is very easy as is but I have been playing baseball video games for 20 years and the show for at least 6. The issue is it is hard to cater the game to both new and veteran players. I think they do a good job of that but it will never be perfect
sounds like a participation trophy, never been a fan of those.

Well he was 80-100 last year alone in Ranked so I can only imagine... Always amazes me that people don't know you can look up their history and stats... Kinda comical. But what wpuld you expect from someone who chooses thaghettoblasta as a gametag hahha.
Well in his defense he said he was new last year too i believe, so having a record close to .500 out of 180 games is not horrible. But again knowing that he shouldv'e been more undestanding i would think.

if you make it to the final boss being down 10-12, 8-12, I don't think you should be rewarded for failing, thats just my opinion and you already earned your stubs back by that point, just be patient in showdown, its a great way to improve, pop on some Netflix and just play away

I did specify using the perks for this strategy; you want to drain the pitcher so that around 10 outs you can start racking up runs. Since it’s on veteran difficulty, swinging with contact gets you hits easily. It’s easier than last year, but last year with checks swings you could stretch ABs to 10+ pitches quite often. It’s not a guaranteed, but when I went into TA boss at 15-15 just attacking the ball with diamond mashers I still lost (I was fuming lol); but with a RP it’s really easy to drain the guy.

I can understand the complaints about struggling on Showdown. What I dont understand is the complaints about "all or nothing". Just defeating the mini boss gets you stubs and a pack and XP. To complete the Showdown, you have to beat the final boss. Why is that unfair? It's how video games have been set up for ages.
Look at Returnal. The first big PS5 release that utilizes the controller and graphics. You must complete the game in one run through without dying. When you die, you have to start again from the very beginning, with rooms randomizing, and there arent save points. That is "all or nothing".
Showdown is what it's supposed to be. You have to defeat the final boss to win, if not you must restart to attempt it again. Getting vouchers or credit or whatever for just getting to the final boss, then people could skip to the boss and collect and quit out without even playing the mode.
You don't get a pack for beating the mini boss... You're talking about the inning program showdown. I'm talking about the team affinity showdown. All you get for beating the mini boss is a diamond hitter and a diamond perk for your showdown run.
It is all or nothing as far as I can tell the only rewards you get is XP. Unless you beat the final boss and then you get five tickets.
I appreciate you all leaving tips and constructive advice. I still feel like if you play the whole showdown but you end up losing you should get one ticket. I don't see how that hurts anybody. One person said that that cheapens the experience for winning... How? You get five tickets for winning That's five times what you get for losing. Only thing I'm saying is that if you're bad or new or maybe you just get unlucky and you end up losing to the final boss after spending 40 minutes to an hour grinding The least you could do is get one ticket. One ticket is just three points in the program but at least that would make you feel like you didn't 100% waste your time. And it's an incentive to keep trying and grinding and get better.
Again thank you all for your constructive feedback and tips.

Because awards are for winning and beating something, not for failing. If I take a 3 credit class and fail but I went to every class and tried really hard should I still get 1 credit?

Hang in there - I didn't not beat 1 single showdown last year, I didn't even try after inning 1.
This year beat about 30 Team Affinity Showdowns and 1st and 2nd inning on the 1st try.
I play them straight through without skipping, I've come back form 8 down. Normally I want to be 3-4 runs to have a chance (Thats why do the little missions).
Showdown pitchers throw junk right below or just above, and they try to get you to chase the slider.
BE PATIENT .... move the PCI up and down so you get a good sense of the strike zone, and just LOCK IN in the middle. Some have suggested taking a couple strikes, that helps to.
Once the showdown pitcher recognizes you know chasing the junk, it becomes so much easy. And once you get it, you just keep winning at a good %.
You'll get there. GL

Yeah, I’m not disagreeing with you.
I have just found that, for me, I would rather swing early in the count if the pitch is there. I like to equip perks that help that, like “clear for takeoff” etc.
Also, this kind of applies to RS and other H2H online modes. Taking pitches can be good but, at some point, you need to swing in order to hit.
-
Thanks for the advice everyone I will probably end up reinstalling at some point and try again
I still hold to my opinion that there should be a small reward guaranteed regardless. People talking about participation trophies and failing their university class I don't understand you. We're not talking about a championship tournament and we're not talking about getting your degree to become a surgeon. This is a video game it's an offline mode just meant to have fun and grind the game and eventually earn some players. I don't see how somebody grinding and spending 40 minutes on a showdown run, only to lose, being rewarded with one measly ticket hurts anybody. You who are much better at the game win's yours and gets five tickets which is far more meaningful. Who is losing here? We're talking about an offline mode in a video game here.
Anyway I've said my piece not everyone is going to agree but thank you for those who have offered advice and been constructive.

See I disagree because if you make it to the final boss with 8 or 10 runs that means that you earned those 8 or 10 runs. That means you put in the time beating the moments and then picking out your players and perks and then setting your lineup. Sds didn't give you those 8 or 10 runs you earned them by grinding the mode it takes time and you have to get multiple wins. You would have to beat four or five moments plus the mini boss to go in there with 8 or 10 runs. By doing all that I feel like you should have earned and be guaranteed at least one ticket.
That's just my opinion I guess you know not everybody's going to agree.
Patience is one thing that people keep saying and I think that's true I need to be more patient.

I said in the post that they could make it so that if you skip to the boss you don't get the one ticket like it disables that.
In the defense of those against you, your OP said you should get at least one ticket even if you didn't beat the boss. But they are saying prior to getting to final boss you already got your entry fee back and what couple packs? So it actually didn't cost you anything but time.
What packs do you get for doing the team affinity showdown? I must be blind because I don't recall ever getting one.
you make 500 stubs just for beating the first mini boss. That gives you your entry fee back. Thats worth more than one voucher

With all due respect I don't think anybody is playing showdown to get 500 stubs. The whole point of doing team affinity showdown is to get the vouchers for the team affinity program so that you can eventually unlock some of the 88 overall players. At least for me personally I could care less about stubs stubs are easy enough to come by by playing any other game mode.

The get good crowd will roll in and chest thump. Ignore them and check your tv settings and/or get a gaming monitor. Otherwise, you aren’t playing the same game as the get goods are and it is much more difficult.

Key to my success in showdowns is make sure I’m as high as Snoop before I play. Only way

I'm also new, bad at this game, but I don't mind how showdown is done, it's beatable.
I believe their online mode needs a redesign though, to help new players. It's too random, find myself matched against vastly superior players way too often. We need a league pyramid type system. Put all us trash players in the bottom league, we can have some enjoyable games against each other. Put the good players in the top league with better rewards.
Playing against similar skilled players is the best way of improving. It's disheartening for a new player to be matched against experienced skilled players, that's only going to turn new players away from the game.
