Scoring on a ground ball
-
You characters that think you are clever rounding third on a groundball to short are not really helping yourselves to get better.
FWIW, for those of you that haven’t figured it out yet, if you need to do cheesy stuff to get your BR or low division ranked wins, you are just going to make it harder on yourselves later.
/old guy rant.

Do you mean if there is a guy on second and a ground ball to short the guy sends his runner to score while the SS makes the play instead of stopping him at 3B? What's wrong with that?

With less than 2 outs that is plain dumb.

this is why i automatically throw home after getting the out on plays like this

I mean I don't do it, and I don't even think it would work at a high %, unless the guy on second is a burner and the ball is hit in just the right spot. Otherwise you are just counting on an error or gambling. But getting frustrated and calling it cheese isn't quite accurate to me.

Unfortunately it never really works in real life; however, with the game animations in place currently (and the last few years actually) there's an 80% success rate with guys over 60 speed scoring with less than 2 outs.
You can't check the runner when the ball is hit towards the 2B side of the SS default position.

No you are counting on bad gameplay with zero defensive urgency which remains a problem in this game. It’s almost not possible to stop without sacrificing the out at first.
If you throw to first your 1st basemen will take about 1-2 full seconds before he gets promoted to throw home allowing an extremely easy run, you basically need to fake a throw to first (have the runner continue to round third) and run him down while sacrificing the out at first, which is still a bad play on there part taking a guy out of scoring position but it’s effective against most players that don’t expect these glitchy tactics.
Its very popular in extra innings on a bunt with a speed guy pinch running at second base to start the inning for players that don’t want to get good at the game

No, just preload a throw home after throwing to 1st. They will be out 99% of the time at the plate regardless of the result at 1st.

I haven't ever encountered this but I took last year off from DD so maybe I'm just missing something.

This doesn't happen. Like ever. People aren't doing it because you'll be hosed at the plate easy unless the opponent is completely out to lunch.

Yeah if the guy at first is safe the guy at home isn’t going to be out 99% of the time....that is actually completely contradicting the way throws to first base are coded in this game. If Yadi is running to first base the game takes even LONGER to throw to first base then it would if it was Buxton, they throw as fast as they need to to get him out, not as fast as possible. They will literally take speed off the throw for a slow runner and make it look like a cool calm and collected throw to first base you would see in the MLB. Take a step, pound the glove, lob it over, all the while Buxton has rounded third and half way home.
What your saying is so completely wrong it comes off as you hoping people fall for this because you do it all the time.

What is the consensus on this scenario....
1st and 2nd 1 out. Ground ball that the shortstop has the back hand and make a longish throw to second. I know my guy at first will be safe if he tries to turn two. Can I wheel the guy going to third to get a cheap run with two outs?
I’ve tried this twice in different games. The first time it worked. The second time the guy pumped to first and threw me out at home.
Is this cheesy or is it on the defensive player to know he’s not getting the guy at first?

Not cheesy in my opinion but also if I am playing defense and I know the guy at the plate can run then I just throw the ball the 3rd to get the lead runner.
