i made the switch last year to directional and havent looked back.

I've played the show since the ps2 days and before that the high heat series which used 'zone hitting'.

But I've gotten old and my skills are not what they were so I went with directional (MVP Baseball hitting basically). I enjoy it as i find it's a bit more casual for me and I can sit back and enjoy the game.

I use to be a zone hitting snob too like most people who are pro-zone are. I still think zone is the most realistic hitting option but it's a videogame, i want to have fun, so i am good w/ directional.

I play 99.9 percent offline nowadays so can't really comment about zone/direction for online play.

I just find directional more relaxing to play.

Here is the ULTIMATE DIRECTIONAL HITTING GUIDE over at OS :

Directional is ideal for moments, conquest and offline missions and is all RNG based. You typically need zone hitting when playing online because it's better to have more control over your swing and pitches are harder to connect with when corners are dotted.

But what everyone is saying about Zone hitting this year is it completely RNG. So not much of a difference than from Directional.

Unless a patch fixed the Zone RNG

I just use whatever the default is. Don't remember which one that is off the top of my head.

It’s not much different RNG than last year. I still use zone bc I have more control over the possible outcome. But may see if directional is giving me the same results

Zone is great and as far random as it has been in forever, if you play with the competitive setting or play h2h.

I use directional for the same reason as I’m getting too old to be trying to keep up with the hand eye coordination. I can hold my own online, usually get the event awards and can be a 700 player. No way I’m going above that with directional but I’ll stay in my lane and enjoy the game I want to play anyway.

It does take the work out of hitting but then you are really relying on good RNG. Conquest and moments are fine. You will get totally screwed using directional hitting in Showdowns vs the bosses. I would never recommend using directional there.

I guess I'm the only one who uses pure analog hitting.

We all age differently Chuck. BTW I'm still hot at you for that shot you hit against me with D. Wright back in 17 😜

For homers in moments directional is the way to go. Zone for everything else.

You can just use zone the same way you use directional....leave the PCI in the middle and track the ball. It actually works pretty well.
