PinPoint Pitching should be patched in my opinion
-
PinPoint is too forgiving from what I’ve seen. There are times where I mess up the pattern quite a bit or am 78% accurate but still get “perfect” pitches.
I feel like it should be a lot harder to get a “perfect release” or the penalties should be a lot harsher when you don’t get perfect
Right now, PinPoint is actually the easiest to get good input on (once you’ve practiced enough). I pitched with analog for 10 years now and after 2 weeks I’m getting more good inputs on Pinpoint than analog and that’s just purely because the range is so wide for a perfect rating.
I think it’d be better if you have to get 95% accurate on the gesture and then be within 2 degrees left or right rather than 4.
What do y’all think? (I know servers are way more important right now)

I disagree. I'm learning it currently and when I get a perfect input, its pretty on point, but I have noticed when I miss I am getting some pretty bad balls. That being said, its the opposite of 20 where if you missed input you hung it for a straight cockshot. Pinpoint when I miss they're going out of the zone more often than not.
-
Too forgiven? I stopped because it was too hard... If I got all green feedback but not perfect ball was everywhere and grooved often... aim outside... Perfect motion? Perfect aim? 0.10 seconds off on release? Center cut.
Good results with perfect input, it was a horror show with good input.
-
I agree completely, it was hard as hell for a about 2 games, then once you get it, you really get it. And its pretty much impossible to not throw perfect pitches.

Maybe that’s the issue? I played about 12 RS games yesterday and I didn’t throw a single pitch down the middle the entire day
I think I get “perfect” releases about 80-85% of the time and the rare times I mess up it safely goes out of the strike zone for a ball.
I can also tell when my opponent is using pinpoint as they throw every pitch on the black or just outside of the strike zone as well. (Asked what setting they used to confirm)

I do not have an issue pitching with meter, I throw to the edges and outside the zone. Do you get more strikes called on the edges then other pitching options?

So far, I am highly proficient with pure analog. I would need a new controller to learn pin-point, my right stick is just hammered.

I think the strike zone is the same. Can’t speak on the success of meter as I’ve never used that setting. Always was an analog guy until PinPoint came out.

Ok, I have not tried pinpoint, I guess I could give it a go vs CPU to practice.I like meter and have always used it.

If it helps I've used meter for probably 10 years or more. And before I even tried pinpoint I didn't think I was going to like it and go back to meter. 2 weeks later I'm still painting corners with pinpoint.
-
I faced a guy in BR yesterday I thought was cheating, and I still kinda do. He literally painted every ball on the corner or just outside the corner. And by corner I mean the 4 extreme corners. So up/in, up/away, low/in, low/away.
Not a single pitch was within the other 5 "zones" of the strike zone. And actually if you split those four zones he hit, all but one pitch was in the 1/4 of the actual zone he was aiming 4.
-
I was using pinpoint and found it to be beneficial but then you get the R2 cheeses that instantly screw up any timing. Found the best way to combat that is to switch back to pure analog. So I've jumped between the two inputs really depending on the pitcher and whether the other guys a cheeser.

Players 2020 - "Make input matter more. Pitching is too random."
Players 2021 - "Input matters too much. Pitching is not random enough." -
I lost a game where the guy did nothing except for 2 cutters and a splitter that I missed and went dead center, 3 dingers; and according to swing feedback (IF they were accurate) all three middle PCI swings. So I’ve missed in the middle. Don’t tweak anything
-
It definitely matters how much control a pitcher has with whatever pitch you are throwing. I love pinpoint though i think it’s the best pitching input in a baseball game in a long time. I disagree, while I do get perfect pitches quite often when I do miss with pinpoint especially missing with off speed pitches they end up center of the plate more often than not or hanging and then it’s just up to the other person to execute on those mistakes.

Also, history says the minute any game play patch is deployed, it never ends well and only messes things up. Servers suck but game play has been pretty solid minus a few bugs not related to hitting or pitching IMO.
-
after the fiasco of pitching last year, I don't understand why anyone would want less accurate pitching this year.

Input should matter and there should be a skill gap. There’s no skill gap if you can get perfect pitches with 78% accuracy

No one wants less accurate pitches. I think it’s pretty clear that what I said is that it should be more difficult to get “perfect” input.

100% what Dolenz said.
