So, it can be assumed that one of the three bosses for the second inning program is going to be a starting pitcher. My question is, what is the likelihood that we might see a Tim Lincecum card as one of the boss cards? If not now, maybe later down the line?

While his career in the major leagues was relatively short, he did some amazing things in that time like racking up 1,736 Ks, making 4 All-Star appearances, winning 3 World Series, being awarded back to back Cy Young awards, and being the NL strikeout leader for 3 years in a row. His record was 110-89, but a large handful of those losses are due to poor run support from offense. Anyway, I would love to see a 2009 or 2010 Lincecum card in an inning program. What are your thoughts?

There is a new legend in the inning program, so Timmy is on the table, but so is anyone else

I've never guessed very well in these scenarios, but i am actually hoping for Doc Ellis, or Randy Johnson but would be ok with lincecum i just don't feel like he follows the theme of the Era.

I think it's jeff kent or a reliever who will be the new legend. I don't think lincecum even knows this game exists so it would be hard for them to ever get his rights.

I'd love to see a Tim Lincecum card in the game, but can only assume there must be a rights issue if he wasn't in 20 at all. Fingers crossed though.

Doubt Randy Johnson would be a 2nd inning boss as a new legend he would be a mid year guy like they did with Griffey and Maddux/Papi/Mo/Walker

I don't think rights to use players in the game work this way.

Sony/SDS has a deal with the MLBPA to use current players and the MLB Players Alumni Association to use former players. They don't have to make a separate deal with every player in the game; they have rights to every player whose licensing is handled by these two organizations. So even if Tim Lincecum doesn't know the game exists, as long as he hasn't specifically opted out of allowing the Alumni Association to handle his licensing rights Sony/SDS should be able to put him in the game.

Which is a long way of saying that the new legend could be him, but it could be a lot of people. 😉

Can it? 40% of the programs last year did not feature SP bosses.

I dunno. Lincecum totally seems like the stoner, gamer type to me. I wouldn't be surprised if he was familiar with the game.

I'm pretty sure he lives in a cabin in like oregon or something like that. I don't think he does the gaming thing at all or fame in any way.

Either 16 & 17 or 17 & 18 had back to back years of a 99 Tim Lincecum in the game. I think when players retire it takes 5 years before they can get their rights back.......could be wrong on that but he was in the game.

It's not necessarily 5 years, although that is the general rule of thumb. Rollins was 3 years and he was probably the earliest one, his last game was 17. As was lincecum. So he is a legitimate possibility
