What did SDS get RIGHT for The Show 19?
-
So, we've all seen many threads of complaints and what people want changed for the next game. I'm curious to see what changes SDS made for MLB The Show 19 that were spot on. What changes did you like?
Some of these things will seem very minor in the grand scheme of things, but even the little touches can make a big difference.
Multiple lineups. This was much needed and I love it. Four is a good number, too, I think.
Searchable players for lineups. This was also a much-needed feature. It really cut down on the time trying to set a lineup for a specific thing, either team affinity or dailies.
Updated Conquest maps. I'm an offline player, so seeing new Conquest maps all the time has been great. I've been even more happy lately with maps coming out nearly weekly.
Inning programs. I think this is a great idea. I really liked 17's version of programs, and this feels like a version of it. Putting the best rewards at 300 stars while being able to earn beyond that is perfect. You can get the best reward without having to play every day, but if you want to play every day, you can keep getting better stuff.
Choice packs. This might be the best one. Getting a choice on who you grab in a pack is fantastic. Doing all that work or spending all those stubs just to land a guy you didn't want really stinks.
Stadium sounds. Love it. I think this should be tweaked a bit, but I like customization.
Moments. I'm a little hesitant to put Moments on here. I really hated these early on as I actually enjoyed the stat grinds (not to the MLB The Show 18 level, though). So, I didn't like the initial change, but it's grown on me. I think it's a pretty good middle ground between those who like to do stat grinds and those who cringe at the thought of it.
New Legends. I'm a bit bummed that some players didn't return for 19 (Fisk being the biggest loss for me), but I think we got better returns than we lost. I hope we can keep most of what we gained in 19 and expand on it.
How cards are revealed in packs. Great addition. Show all or one at a time. Get an animation for the better cards.
Quick sell feature in packs. I didn't touch this early on, but now that it's so late in the year, I like that I can just hit 'quick sell' when I get a bronze free agent relief pitcher. Saves me a step. I like that you can list a player to the market when opening a pack, but I think you have to see what he's currently going for, and that's not available at the moment.
What changes did you guys like in 19?

I think they took a step in the right direction with fielding. I want it to matter. It's not perfect and tweaks need to be made, but it's a start.
Increasing pitch speeds made fastballs usable again. We have the problem of a bunch of changing speeds between difficulties, but I think they iron that out moving forward. Again it's a start.
Changing BR to have three diamonds and three golds was a welcome addition to Battle Royale.
Increasing the amount of orders you can have to 50 greatly helped the market.
The way they released the cards, though not perfect (Pujols etc being very late in the cycle), was an improvement on releasing the best cards in June which killed lineup diversity.

Making Rewards Sellable: If you recall, there were very few rewards you earned in 17 and 18 that were sellable. Now, just the XP and TA rewards and a few moments were locked. Everything else was market bait.
Team Affinity: Unlike Team Epics from 17 & 18, Team Affinity was a much more interesting requirement/reward system.
The Show Nation Marketplace: 17 was still the pinnacle IMHO. But 19 was LEAPS AND BOUNDS more user friendly than 18.

Stadium sounds were by far the worse idea they came up with for 19

Rewards (or at least anything you can do offline) weren't sellable, same as before. I'd file that under "promises not kept."

Contact hitters having a place in the game was a huge step forward, IMO.
-
You can't sell Inning rewards? You might want to contact the devs.
-
Getting rid of souveniers and all that junk was cool. I also really liked the bat skins being added.
-
I thought March to October was a great addition. I know it wasn’t time efficient in terms of the awards. But, it was enjoyable and I hope they keep it for next year.

Why the "lol" ??

Disregard, wrong quote.

Inning rewards weren't offline rewards. Anything that didn't have some aspect of online play (Conquest, moments, TA/MTO) wasn't sellable.
(and how do I not have enough "privileges" to delete my own post)?

the game was head and shoulders better than 18 or 17 anyone who says otherwise either sucks or has no clue how to play
Or enjoys different things than you do.

All Conquest rewards except for Cobb, Colon, Keith, and Smardi#$@ were sellable.
Almost everything in Moments was sellable except for Storyline cards, Sony Partners, Ultimate/Extreme and the first April POTM -

Almost everything in Moments was sellable except for Storyline cards, Sony Partners, Ultimate/Extreme and the first April POTMNo conqest rewards (the actual cards that were given for specifically doing something in Conquest) were sellable. No Moments cards were sellable. You just said "everything was sellable except the actual cards that were rewards." There was nothing you could earn from only offline play that you could then put on the market to sell to those that didn't want to play offline except the Topps Now stuff.
This was the "screw offline" year. Every WS/BR card was sellable but Andrew Miller wasn't.

You could earn Program rewards by strictly being an offline player and sell those.

And those program rewards were for both offline and online players. Not only that but there were more opportunities (dailies) for earning stars online compared to offline.
