Oh no doubt. Baseball is also different. In 2k I can buy the best card and I can run the ball through him every play if I wanted so huge advantage. Same thing with Madden. I can run the ball with Dickerson 50 times a game if I want. Baseball at the end of the day Ortiz is getting 3-4 ABs a game. Can’t do it by himself

I would say that's a plus, not a minus. Once I get the collections complete, those cards will be usable all year, If I was spending money, (I'm not), I wouldn't have to worry about those cards being obsolete and having to spend more.

I bought Mantle week one last year and really regretted it.
So this year I built a decent team, but nothing special.
I don’t judge people that do it, because I have in the past. I wanted to use Mantle all year last year so I did it. Chipper this year didn’t have the same appeal to me. So I didn’t care to do it
That’s where I’m at. I could do it but I kind of like grinding away and progressing towards the collection rather than getting it done week 1. It gives me a purpose to grind. However, I understand why the streamers get them done quick.

I have no issues with that, I'm not anywhere near them RN, but It's my main thing every year, my goal is to start chipping away at collections, it's a good incentive and is fun for me.

There is only one thing FIFA is better at. Draining wallets. EA has made 6 BILLION in microtransactions since 2015, they make more off that then the base cost of the game.

Some people have the money to do it, power to them! To each his own. I would if I could. Some people do it because they’re content creators though. But why someone has collections done is not always money related. Some people are good at BR. Some people flip like crazy.

Bro I have collections completed nms having 99 ortiz is completely fine but if they suck then you can beat them with a fairly solid lineup. Just because you don't have ortiz yet doesn't mean other people who do this game for content or have fun can't have him. Also don't always assume that people who have collections done have spent money too

If you think madden, fifa and 2k ultimate team modes are better than mlb, you should head back there. This is by far and its not even close the best mode for having rewards, not needed to spend and stay competitive. The servers are a whole other thing and are garbage right now but there is no way any of those games are by far better than mlb. That is just absurd.

I would consider Trout an end game OF. I mean you can parallel him up to 99.

You heard that from people that haven’t played them in 5 years and don’t even know what squad battles or weekend league is. They ALL have pros and cons, one of the cons in this game is the ability to buy coins and purchase teams outright for $, no other game does this but MLB. One of the pros is that it gives away 10x more free cards than other games. Currently at about 40 free diamonds and another 10 earn able by skill. Only 3 have a price tag. It’s not even close to the worst.

Don't you have to buy contracts to keep playing with cards in madden & NBA 2k? At least you don't have to do that with the Show.

Alright everyone maybe I overreacted a bit.
But I am someone who appreciates the long grind without shortcuts. Additionally in those other games I have been able to be NMS and be competitive online out of the gate without having to face god squads day 1. -

NBA 2K is the only one left with contracts and that is admittedly annoying. Edit - FIFA does also but you easily accumulate these so it basically becomes moot.

Yeah I don't think thats a terrible take, he just ends up with gold fielding in the Corner OF spots. I can't justify keeping him in center and once higher diamonds come out his defense will become a liability for his bat.
The quirks and parallels will keep him relevant longer, but not having diamond D and bad stats vs lefties will eventually fade him out in favor of Mays/Aaron/Mantle/Griffey/maybe even Clemente if they juice him.
Idk, this is def the best year for live series viability. Acuña's still hitting nukes for me.
