Questions about button accuracy - fielding
-
If I missed a thread on this, please point me there....
I've always been a straight "Buttons" guy when fielding. I'm messing around with "Button Accuracy". A few questions:
-
If I get it in the green zone, will it ALWAYS be a perfect throw?
-
Does each player have a different "speed" at which the meter moves? For example, would a good fielder have a slower speed on the meter? Or is everyone the same?
-
If I'm in the yellow/red, will it ALWAYS be an errant throw?
Yes, I should know these things.

If you get it in the green zone it will be in the vacinity of reciever not pull them off of bag so to speak. But not guaranteed out.
I think meter speed is same b/c it is based off of user input however accuracy and strength will be based off of player attributes.
As far as red i would say yes to some extent it will be an error throw but yellow is gonna depend on how close to the green or how close to red you are.
Hope this helps

- In the green means always an accurate throw. Hitting the meter in the center means a perfect throw.
- The speed is the same for everyone. The width of the green area differs depending on the attribute throw accuracy; the higher the number the wider the green area.
- Yellow/red means it's an inaccurate throw. Let's say you throw home and hit the yellow instead of the green. It will pull the catcher off home plate. If you hit the red, you might actually throw it passed the catcher so that more runners can advance.

I would honestly tell you that button accuracy with throw meter is the only way to go. Every error I make is my fault and that’s the way I like it.

Unless you’re playing March to October or other rewards-influenced mode:
MLB The Show 19 button accuracy fielding error on perfect meter https://youtu.be/XRBSX_b304E
MLB The Show 19 button accuracy throwing error despite green result https://youtu.be/uz8KYW9LZVY
These are from 19 but I can’t imagine it changed.

have you played 20? Or do you just not use this input mode? They completely revamped this in 20 and green is always a good throw. They also added a "perfect", in the middle of the meter for close plays. I.E. if I field a ball in center and the runner is going home, if I make a perfect throw, he'll most likely be gunned out at home.
This all depends on fielders attributes, arm, etc.

Those clips were anomalies but enough to convince me that the influence of DD on MTO made it a bit of a furphy. Green was supposedly always a good throw prior to 20 as well. I’ve always used button accuracy since probably TS15. Never had or noticed the issues shown in my clips until MTO, hence I blame it on the rewards incentives and DD’s influence.
Having said that, my MTO/DD participation in 20 is limited so I can’t assert that 20 is the same, and as you’ve pointed out, I’m sure it isn’t. I played a whole Mets regular season of HoF MTO and got up to the division series (I think I’m up to game 3, just haven’t played it) and also maybe three or four ranked seasons games with diamond pitchers and silver and below position players, just to see how I’d fare. I think I also forced myself to play a bunch of conquest stronghold games on my way to the platinum trophy.
All up I didn’t have the issue in my limited experience in TS20 MTO/DD.

I got ya. They really did improve it immensely in 20, and it was needed, as your videos show.
I'm excited for the continued fielding and animation improvements in 21.

I actually put this game back on just to get the platinum because I was a trophy away because I really wasn’t playing online since maybe June. And I got sucked back in. I also platinum hunt. Super fun.

I threw to my pitcher covering 1st with Bellinger when I was really close to the bag, it was yellow and it didn’t pull him out of the bag.

Did you get 16? After I got the 19 last month I thought I may as well have a go at 16 (12-0 BR run). It’s the only one that would have put up a fight. A ridiculous trophy.
Unfortunately of course I was about seven months too late

Funny enough the show is one of the only games I don’t really go for platinums it’s the one game I play online. The only platinum I have for the show is mlb 15

If the fielders are close together, a yellow meter throw sometimes will be a good throw in 20.
