Is SDS practicing ageism?

I'm 26 and last year was the first year I ever played DD. I was around high 500's and low 600's all year which I was fine with. I was probably 15 games above .500 on RS. This year I am a couple of games under .500 through about 80 RS games. I have been no hit once, held to 2 or 3 hits multiple times and have no chance at winning unless I hold my opponent under 2 runs. I know I am not great, but it sure would be fun to be competitive again. I actually prefer to play offline, but that is not really possible everyday with only one new conquest map per inning program. I want to play 9 inning games and actually use strategy some which is not happening in this years game. It's all about who can bring in Kluber in the 3rd inning or their reliever who throws 100+.

I am 43 but pitch speeds arent an issue. I have had trouble adjusting to the timing window. That seems to be the only thing that has got tougher. But we needed the timing window change. You will eventually get used to it.
Honestly brother, nobody’s getting used to it, because it’s so Inconsistent and varies from game to game. I’ve tried with this game and I’ll still play it (I played ‘18 FFS) but it’s a bust. Too many off key things with the the online gameplay. Fielding is one thing, but if everything else was fine, you’d probably calmly give them time to fix it, even though the same issue was prevalent last year, which kinda makes you roll your eyes. But it’s just....... off in every way somehow.
Well I think I am getting used to it because I stopped playing online for the time being lol. Not because of the hitting though. I can handle hitting struggles, but i cannot do the computer messing with my fielding and base running. I will play online again when, or if, they fix it.
-
@ChuckCLC Yeah, what is up with baserunning lately? Fielding is fielding and we know what’s up with that, but my runners have suddenly lost the ability to read the game entirely. Not running on hits in gaps, not getting back to base on routine pop flies, ending up with multiple runners trying to take the same base..... It’s suddenly become a nightmare for some reason, lol.

In the same situation as you, and I agree with you, and your initial point.
-
The pitch speeds this year are actually slower then most year— Not as slow as 18 but 20 seems slower then 19. 21 is a good balance. Slightly faster with movement. Smooth

You are hitting .40 points higher than I am. I am 37 and this is my second year playing. Last year I played 300 RS games .192. This year I have played 500 games and hit 2.09 but my era is 1..34 which is decent. I feel like I am better this year than last but only .018 higher batting average so maybe im not better.
This game is very frustrating and I will play like 10 games a day so its hard to be focused like if you only play 3
-
Yea struggle at first to hit the FB but by the 5th inning I'm able to get my timing down. Seems every game is different and take a bit of adjusting.

Honestly a 1.34 ERA IN MLB 20 is phenomenal. This is imo the hardest game to pitch in due to the constant forced mistakes. You have to work on your hitting but you are doing something right with the pitching. Especially if you are holding people to that in 500 games?! And under 600 RS. That’s not easy man.

43 here and yes I could barely hit 102mph online, offline I could

The issue I run into is as soon as I hit 650 I start playing way better competition. I hit mid 600's most seasons that I try to play. I have very low scoring games. Ive tried to use a monitor and Ive tried movin my PCI but i cant time it for [censored].

Full disclosure- I’m a 42 year old father of twin boys. I’ve been playing this game since inception. I love baseball and this is a hobby of mine. I’m fortunate as I own a fairly successful business and I’m able to spend time and money on this game (mad respect to those who are NMS). I ask this question because pitch speeds in RS seem absurd to me. Maybe it’s my old a** eyeballs or something but I can’t seem to adjust to 102 MPH FB and 80 MPH off speed pitches. It’s absolutely driving me crazy. I’m late on every FB and off speed is just a disaster. Is this game catering to the young guns who have awesome eye site and reflexes? If so, good for you. My old [censored] can’t seem to catch up to anything. It’s super frustrating considering in 19 I was fairly competitive. I made CS pretty much every season I played and pushed WS most seasons. Are FBs OP? Just asking in case any old heads are experiencing the same thing. Before you bust my balls about being old, I get it...you’re a young stud and my reflexes blow...ps....I do use a monitor.
Well judging by response i don't think you are alone! First i am almost 50's and struggle in some of the same ways others have said.
I don't think it is necisarily ageism that would imply they are discriminating and i just don't think SDS is excluding people on purpose.
But i do think there are ways they can accomodate our age group and one would be by allowing customized batting views in MP. I used to do really good with strike zone batting view prior to pitch speed increase. Now i switch between Zoom, the 2 Fish Eyes, and Catcher High. But they are like a car each one has a certain blindspot to it. I think allowing people to set batting to where they are more comfortable would help in some ways.

Fish eye is one of those cams that gets you comfortable on the lower difficulties but it’s almost impossible to really hit good on legend with that cam because you can’t see any break.
I hear you on strike zone though I can’t pick up low pitches with that camera but strike zone 2 works good. It’s still a slight disadvantage imo though. Being good at strike zone and practicing on it is the best move. I struggle on sz 1 myself though...

the timing windows are off and not realistic.
what we see on screen with my players bat should be what happens and that means the ball should never ghost through the bat but since some players timing windows are so small they make it so the ball just goes through the bat.
they did this to combat late or early swings which was never the problem.
if you want more people to strike out then shrink the PCI and force players to stride.
A stride could be as simple as press the button down when you want your player to stride and release when you want him to swing.

I tinkered with RBI Baseball '21 Sliders and saw some 110 mph pitches. Yikes!
-
if SDS slower the pitch speeds old guys like us would lose anyways. young guys with better reactions would just tee off on us. I'm 37 make WS every season can compete on HOF. legend is a different beast and o accept that

Please don't? Don't sit there and tell people strike zone 2 is the best thing for everyone and then proceed to say that Fish eye is less superior except on lower levels.
Because you have no proof and that is simply your opinion, and it does not make it gospel.

The timing windows are bad in 20. The timing windows in 21 however were perfect.
