PS5- Play on TV or monitor?

I have not yet been able to get my hands on a PS5 but I’ve been actively looking and trying to get in on these restocks but it’s [censored] near impossible. I will get one at some point. My question is for those who have one or plan to get one, will you be playing on a TV or a monitor and will it matter as much with the next gen consoles/newer TV technology?
I am new to online play, this was my first year playing DD. I played all year on a reg PS4 with a reg TV just switched to game mode. I’ve done OK, but I feel to get to the next level and be more competitive I would need a monitor to help with hitting. I know seemingly all the competitive players play on a monitor, I’ve just literally played all video games my entire life on a reg TV(from Nintendo all the way up through every PS).
Money is not an issue. I’m willing to spend on a monitor or a new TV if it will help with any timing/lag issues with online play. Thoughts? Also any monitor suggestions to pair with a PS5 if you do suggest using a monitor?
I have the PS5 and Xbox series x. I just bought the LG CX 65”. In game mode on that specific tv I hit way better than on my monitor playing 20. If you can afford to get the CX, do it. No sense in wasting next gen games on a 27” monitor IMO. The frame rates and visual fidelity are amazing with that TV.

Better playing on a monitor. Just look for a monitor with at least 144hz and 1ms, you don't have to look for nothing too pricey or special at this time.
This isn’t totally accurate, on a PS5 you also need a 2.0 HMDI port on the monitor (you don’t need this on a Xbox which makes it superior for now) and that is where the prices significantly jump. Otherwise your buying a 144hz monitor that can only produce 60hz

Ok cool thanks for the clarification.

I've got the same TV(55inch) and notice that minor league stadiums at night fade(get darker) a little sometimes. MLB stadiums no issues at all, have you seen this issue, what setting do I you use on your TV besides game mode?

You’re exactly right. I assume you’re in game mode with the show playing on faster and hdr off? Even with hdr on it still looks washed out. My assumption is it’s not the TV but the game causing that look. No other games I’ve played in game mode looks this way. I have to imagine when the show 21 comes out in 4K 60 FPS this will not be an issue. You can increase the brightness and other settings within game mode to better this for the time being.

Bob - just head down to The Wiz with Kramer and get a monitor. Best decision you'll make.

The CX puts the monitor vs TV debate to bed. The CX is faster than most gaming monitors for the PS4, Xbox, PS5 and Xbox S/x, and the image quality is incredible as well. You get the speed of a gaming monitor, and can actually see what you are hitting. I have a CX 65 as well, and my batting average so far has gone up 50 - 80 points in 700+ games since getting it.
-
Also, the Xbox X/S and PS5 require HDMI 2.1 for 4k@120fps , which the LG CX has, yet not many other gaming monitors (or TV's) currently have. The CX having HDMI 2.1 is one of the things that makes using it the correct decision.

What is biggest monitor you can get with the specs you guys/gals are reccommending?

There are plenty of Samsung TV that are still A+ for this game. You really only need 4K@60hz which is a budget TV these days. They now have budget TVs that are designed to be incredibly fast as well.
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ru8000
Is really good, I own the budget version if it, the TU8000 not the RU8000 and it’s still WS caliber but about half the price. They have even better versions but again for 4K@60hz for a 50 inch screen it’s tough to beat a 500$ price tag that won’t hold you back and looks amazing.

Well if you have a 8k TV it’s probably incredible lol, but the issue is this, how fast is it in 1080p vs 4K vs 8k and how fast is it at those @60hz? they can actually all be a bit different which is annoying. Its native resolution usually is the best, and it can be just as good or extremely slow on other settings.
The one I posted is actually fastest in 4K@60hz which makes it a great TV for MLB the show because its what it plays at. The more you spend, they better they usually perform so I’m sure yours is amazing, but there is a slight chance lowering the settings to 4k@60hz could actually disrupt its performance.
Jealous btw, if you want to message me the mode I can check how amazing it is lol.

HDR, Game Mode, Faster ...and I can hit now like never before. I also finally got my glasses last week, so that helps as well. (It's amazing how well I can hit when I can see the ball well. ) Anyway, the combo of glasses and the CX makes the game like a completely new game, not to mention the colors are incredible.
102 is still fast above 700, yet I played the Lou Gherig God Squad moment again today (after not playing it for 3 or 4 months) that has Pearson as the pitcher as a test, and won easily, so I definitely can see the difference and also hit the 102.
Also, I don't have my full, maximum configuration just yet, as I am still playing '20 on my ps4. My Xbox Series X (which I will pair with the TV) will have additional settings that I can use to further optimize everything. I know what I am going to further optimize already, because I got the CX specifically to pair it with the Series X after doing a ton of research. I had a 32-inch, 3ms rt, 7ms input lag gaming monitor before, and although the speed was good, the picture quality was horrible and made hitting hard in different ways. The CX fixes that issue and is also faster than other gaming monitors, so I am set as I can see the pitch clearly and also handle the speed. The last two nights, I hit 4 home runs back-to-back-to-back-to-back in one RS game around 700, and another 3 back-to-back-to-back last night in the mid 700's and dropped 6 runs in one inning. I can actually see the spin on the ball and determine the pitch based on the spin. It's insane how big the difference is with the CX.

I messed with the settings, yet it seemed like it made things worse somehow, not better.
I had game mode on since yesterday, and then must have something reconfigured incorrectly? Can you be more specific as to what specific performance tweaks you turned on, as I'd be curious to know. Also, this is just connected to a PS4, Xbox Series X and Xbox. Some of the performance settings are only available on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. The Series X is what I will play '21 on, yet I play '20 on the PS4. Are you talking about auto-low-latency, or something else?
Also, I do appreciate the information/help. I am definitely curious about what you are setting.
